  1. Sure, anyone can play. I'd probably go team A, personally. Both are close, though. I don't even see how that is close. Team A beats team B in everything but strength of schedule and that is close. Team A has better overall record, better win percentage versus top 25 teams, no bad losses and a better R/N record.
  2. &!@#&!#%$%!!!!
  3. Thanks! I like the formatting, BTW. Thnk I will steal it. No problem. It's easier to follow, IMO. Especially once you get to multiple pages of picks. Don't worry we won't get there with how slow this is going.
  4. Well you can't take longer than Czar takes for his picks.
  5. xavier beat memphis and mizzou on neutral courts.... that's at least as impressive if not more so. michigan has two road games all year, and those were against northwestern and indiana. if they lose at minneosota they'll be 18-13 and below .500 in the conference. non-conference wins are nice, but they haven't done well enough in conference to get in. That and those wins came extremely early on and don't really show how good that team is. They are capable of beating great teams but play way to inconsistent to be a tourny team at this point.
  6. that would be dumb. I guarantee I'm a bigger fan of Purdue than a large majority of its students. Its in my blood and is 4th generation. In general I would say the truest of fans aren't students. A lot of student fans disappear when they graduate. They move somewhere else and either switch allegiances or just stop following their school but still say they are a fan. I consider the lifers bigger fans even if their peak fandome doesn't reach one of a avid student.

    arod

Please join my money league If its a keeper league then that changes everything. If you draft Arod early then you are counting on him carrying you in the second half. That can be a good strategy but considering Arod's worst month is September its not really a sound idea. You don't want to draft a guy to carry your team down the stretch who historically is bad in the last month. In general my draft strategy is to avoid likely injury issues. I put a stronger than most emphasis on health and in general over all fantasy sports I win half my leagues. I rarely miss playoffs so I will stick with my strategy because it works.

2nd round at the least. The loss of 1 1/2 months of Arod production is enough to drop him out of the first round. Add in its a hip injury that could easily affect his swing once he's back and I would probably avoid him unless he really falls.
  9. I would say a majority of us root for schools that we didn't attend.
  10. BC's resume: 20-10 overall, 2-4 vs. the top 25, 4-6 vs. the top 50, 2 losses outside the top 100, 6-6 R/N record, 7-5 in their last 12, SOS 47 To be honest, those 2 bad losses hurt their profile a lot, and they've had a fairly easy ACC schedule to get to 9-7 in the conference (the only upper tier team they played twice was Wake, while the only lower tier team they didn't play twice was VA). How is their profile that much different from, say, Northwestern's? A, they have at least 3 wins against top 25 teams (Duke, FSU, UNC) and only lost by 4 to Pitt. B, I would say that the ACC (top to bottom) is a better league than the Big 11. What fictional conference is this?
  11. I'm showing Team B as 7-5 their last 12. Whoops, I miscounted the games (To do the last 12, I just count back 12 and count the losses...I counted the last game even though it wasn't played yet). Fixed it. Still, pretty amazing, no? A-B-C C Really has no shot. Awful record versus top 50, a bad loss, and a easy schedule. B and A are very close but I go with A because of the harder schedule and much better R/N record.
  12. Glad to see you folowed the suggestion of keeping this thread free of comments and questions. Why can't you still trade for picks? Sorry didn't see that last part. I was saying that because soon everyone will have made their first round picks.
  13. Well so much for trying to trade for people's first round picks.
  14. I won't be available starting at 10 p.m. for the Thursday option. That would give me an hour of draft i.e. 2 or 3 picks.
  15. OK I have to do a TV daily update on the sports headlines for the day tonight and need to say who holds the tiebreaker between Western Michigan and Ball State as they have each beaten each other once. This is the what the MAC has ... http://www.mac-sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9400&ATCLID=3651224 Anyone care to weigh in on what the F they mean because it is not explained well enough. Andy if you remember what it is from covering them last year then chime in. I'm assuming it means starting at the top ranked team you go down and look at the tied teams record versus that team until one has a better record versus them. However if that is what it means then where do you start? With the third place team in the West or the the overall best team in the MAC which would be the East this year? And No. 3 is just down right shameful. What the heck does that mean. "Sport specific component (if applicable)," is all that No. 3 says.
  16. Meanwhile Purdue is choking a 4 seed away down the stretch.
  17. the big ten doesn't stand a chance in the tournament. purdue looks terrible on a fairly regular basis... illinois held to 33 at home... purdue dominates michigan state by 19... really... i don't think anyone in the big ten would be in the top 3-4 in the acc or big east... except the Big 10 actually plays defense. Get Duke or North Carolina away from the ACC refs and see how far their flopping gets them the tourney is called more like the big east or acc than the big ten The Big East is called closer to the Big Ten than most Big Ten fans want to admit. Yeah I've never heard anyone say the Big East is called like the ACC.
  18. How is Minnesota a lock. They are at .500 in conference with two to go. If they lose both they will finish 8-10 in the Big Ten. With a loss in the first game of the Big Ten Tourney that leaves them at 19-11, below .500 in the Big Ten, and 5-10 to finish. They are far from a lock. Wisconsin has a better conference record, higher RPI, much harder schedule and have played a lot better down the stretch. I would also put Ohio State over Minnesota considering their better conference record, higher RPI and better record versus 26-100 RPI teams.
  19. C-USA: Memphis Big Ten: Michigan St., Purdue, Illinois Big East: UCONN, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Marquette, Villanova, Syracuse, West Virginia Big XII: Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas Pac-10: Washington, UCLA, Arizona St., California SEC: Tennessee, LSU ACC: North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Clemson, Florida St., WCC: Gonzaga MWC: Utah, BYU A10: Xavier I have 30 right now with a couple teams having a chance to lock up with one or two more wins.
  20. "I'm the Brad Pitt of people with Marvin's syndrome."
  21. The whole "it's funny to act gay if you're not really gay" thing is probably the lamest type of humor/comedy in the world. I hadn't even thought of the gay part of it. I just looked and saw some butt ugly human and found it funny. I can't even tell if that is a woman or a man.
  22. Its the weight and he changed his swing the year he hit all those homeruns. That year he switched to be more of a power hitter and if you remember his swing would make him fall to his knees because it corked his entire body up. He then put on a lot of weight. The weight coupled with a very high risk, high reward swing has led to him falling off the face of the baseball world.
  23. His 429 SB's to 143 CS contradicts that. He has a 104-27 ratio the last two years. Steals aren't overly important but he is still an elite one.
  24. In a close resume between teams I put the most stock in record versus top 50 and r/n games. Reason being that is what they will face in the tourny. They will be playing at a neutral site and most likely against a rpi top 50 opponent.
  25. That's the big problem. These guys who failed are immediately taken as experts on TV. Why? They are the ones who didn't know how to be successful. I trust the nerd who studied the sport since he was kid over a GM/coach who got fired. Players are a bit different. Some may never have amounted to anything but they could have been as intelligent as anyone but just lacked the elite athletic ability to stick. Plus they can provide insight into what's like in a clubhouse and that type of stuff that no one else can.
