  1. If Demp got no outs Marshall would have probably come in and try to get three outs.
  2. Bill Murray just make another Ghostbusters movie. Do it for Harold. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1289401/fullcredits#writers
  3. No one is arguing that. Open your eyes. You keep saying it's just the Astros. I and some others have pointed out he also hit against the Brewers so it isn't JUST the Astros.
  4. He always played with lots of intensity and anger but he usually kept it inward and used it as fuel for himself. He then won a championship and has decided no one can touch him or else. Gotten pretty full of himself. I remember the first year with the Celtics he was kind of the quiet, stoic leader. Now he's Rasheed Wallace. Yeah he's always been a [expletive]. Ask Rick Rickhert or however you spell it. He made the mistake of lighting him up in pickup and Garnett fought him and got him ran off the T'Wolves. Yeah it was probably that he played in Minnesota and thus there wasn't the constant exposure.
  5. except...well...he is. they're pitching him inside which is the wrong approach against him even when he's hot. let's see how they pitch him in the 7th. i don't know how many times he's batted with runners on vs. no runners in this series, maybe they just don't trust their catcher to block the ball in the dirt. it's still hard for me to fathom. Except for he hit against the Brewers so it *gulp* isn't just the Astros.

  7. Dear WGN, Don't show a nearly naked man with a guitar even if he is somewhat famous.
  8. He's been swinging the bat. He's just not doing anything with it. He may be better off not swinging.
  9. What about the Brewers? He was 3 for 7 against them. off the top of my head, 2 of those hits were off a lefty (davis, i think). he should hit lefties pretty well because they don't have a pitch similar to the slider righties throw at him that makes him spin out of his shoes. maybe a lefty with a good sinker would give him fits, but that isn't doug davis. eta: only one of those hits was off of davis. 2/5 for the rest of the series. he still wasn't showing much (to me) on the pitch away in that series but the astros haven't even tried to pitch him away. i'll take it though. The other hit that game was when a righty threw a fastball on the middle/inside of the plate. Missed his location, the first pitches he fanned at were outside. That's all wonderful but the fact remains that he isn't only hitting because of the Astros as you tried to say.
  10. Soriano's only hitting because the Astros apparently don't have or believe scouting reports. He still can't hit anything on the outside What about the Brewers? He was 3 for 7 against them.
  11. Alex Rios is the Sox regular CF, and Andruw played 0 games in CF last year. Still has 10 GG's at CF though. Still if he gets 450+ HR's with 10 GG's at CF he would have to be in small group.
  12. Looking through Baseball Reference's list of non-pitchers pitching I found Jaime Burke in 2008 who got a L for Seattle. I'll post if I find more in the 2000's.
  13. Don't look now but Andruw is hitting .304 with 3 HR's already for the White Sox. He actually OPSed .782 which isn't horrible for a CF (I assume he still plays CF and plays it pretty well). Only hit .214 though and it was in Texas. EDIT: Never really looked at it before but if he can rebound and hit say 15 HR's and OPS in the upper .700's for 4 or 5 seasons (only 33) he would worthy of HOF consideration. Not saying he would get in, or deserve to, but that would give him approx. 450 HR's, a career .800+ OPS and at least 10 GG's at CF.
  14. Very well could be true. Not something I'm going to know off the top of my head but I'm pretty sure at least every year or two a position player pitches in a super long game.
  15. Probably the last time a position player pitched. Put a little thought into this before answering. When do position players usually pitch? When it's a blowout loss. Not when it's a tight game. For one it was sarcasm so don't get your panties in a bunch. For two I would bet position players normally pitch when it is a super long extra inning game.

  18. I hope that means they aren't a player for Randle. randle is apparently meshing very well with tracy abrams on the wolves. all 3 are playing at a very very high level right now. i have to think we get randle. I keep reading that, plus his dad is a huge Illinois fan, plus he wants a good engineering school. Seems like a no brainer. If he wants engineering maybe he should go to Purdue :P (yes I realize Illinois is every bit as good as Purdue in engineering)
  19. Never knew that before. Thought you only got LOB if you end the inning.
  20. There's no way the Cubs left 34 on base in a 12 inning game. They would have had to have left the bases loaded in at least 10 of the innings with two runners left on the other two. Saw some post on it on some random answer site and then went and found the game and it is in the box score from Cubs.com. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/wrap.jsp?ymd=20080407&content_id=2500905&vkey=wrapup2005&fext=.jsp&team=away&c_id=chc We scored 10 runs and won 10-8. And only left 15 on base... The individual LOB was 34, which is much different than the team LOB. Unless I am blind it says 34. ESPN also has 34 listed. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=280407123 EDIT: How is the the individual different than team? Never heard this rule, not that it doesn't exist.

  22. So in trying to find the LOB record for a team in an extra inning game I found out the MLB record for LOB is owned by the Reds when they won the WS in 1976. Good bit of trivia. Also found a Cubs game in 2008 that they left 34 on base in 12 innings. Won the game though.
  23. Anyone know the record for LOB in a game by a team (or two teams). I found that in a 9-inning game it is 18 for the NL and 20 for the AL. The Cards are at 20 right now.
