  1. you know what pisses me off? i was born in oklahoma, THIS IS CARDINAL COUNTRY FOR CHRISTS SAKE, WHY WAS I BORN INTO A CUB FAMILY? it could have been so easy if my parents were sox fans i'd be celebrating a world championship and probably trolling this board Lets pretend LOLOLOL SAMMY SOSO GOT CORK?!!!11one!! GET IT HE CORKED HIZ BAT! HEY WE WON THE WORLD F$@$%ING SERIES!!! NOW WHO'S THE BEST TEAM IN CHICAGO? LET'S BURN DOWN WRIGLEY! The Cubs are and always will be. Just ask me!!! :) I've been in both parks and I'd still rather go to Wrigley. For the new park the Sox have, its very below average.
  2. Why would Macias accept a pay cut? He was inspired by Chipper Jones. Saves on moving expenses every year.
  3. I don't see Cedeno and Murton playing everyday together and Perez can't last a full season playing everyday. Plus the fact he's barely an average player for the bench. Jones (according to the media) is probably headed to KC because of their offer. Hendry needs to be comitted if he even comes close to matching KC's offer of 6M. My feeling is Furcal makes up his mind today. No basis on that, just a gut feeling. Lets give it a few more days to see what floats to the top before the winter meetings.
  4. NO FREAKING WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Yes, he indeed did do that. Hendry probably knows how many eggs are in that basket and we don't.
  6. He also mentioned that the first team to add the 5th year probably gets him. I say do it, he is still young. I disagree. Furcal is a 2nd tier SS and I'd rather not have him much longer once Hendry and Dusty are sent packing. I could deal with 4/38M, but that's probably not an offer he accepts. What if not getting Furcal meant that Neifi or Agonz II would start at SS, would you still feel the same? If Furcal comes here, Walker is gone. Neifi will be starting anyways. I don't see Cedeno playing 2B in Venezuela like Hendry and Co. said. I'm not willing to throw away 50M/5 (potentially) on a guy just to have ok OBP batting leadoff instead of the horror we had last season. If we don't get Furcal, we're going to go buck wild in the trade scene, which is what I would have liked to see Hendry do in the first place. His best moves have come via trade. He gets taken in free agency. Neifi is gone after 2 seasons anyways. I'll take 2 crappy years rather than getting locked into Furcal at top dollar for 5. If Neifi gets more then 200 AB's this team is in trouble no matter who is in the line-up.
  7. The Cardinals certainly won't. Bret Boone to the Cards, then. I'll see your Bret Boone and rise you the Cubs resigning Burnitz! Geez, you don't have to get nasty about it.
  8. Nah, just show him to a cab stand.
  9. I'd be all over him with his stuff - I've always like Clement. Worst case he's a #3 starter who eats innings. His only problem is he seems to wear down as the season wears on but managed right I think he could be very good. edit - many grammar problems, i'm drunk I'm not drunk, just can't type very well, and I agree, I'd take him back. Especially "IF" Boston would pay a portion of that salary.
  10. Great deal for the Red Sox. Lowell is useless, but to get Beckett for two minor leaguers and a PTBNL is fantastic on their part. I'd take a flyer on him in the 20th round of fantasy baseball.
  11. Looks like Hendry's picture. Who is Moran?
  12. I've got a better one. The Cubs switch infields minus D. Lee with the Yankees?
  13. Good thing you're only going to have to use one hand to continue counting those championships. LOL
  14. I hope so. With his age and having to play the outfield. No Thanks
  15. What do you mean? Unless the O's pick up his option, I think Sammy's available. :P Hey, the way he's played so far this year.Sammy should get at least a 3/10 contract. That is 3 games/ 10 pennies per.
  16. But that can lead to deals in which teams "borrow" players just for the playoffs. In other words acquiring a player late in the season and then trading that player back to the same team after the season is over. Haven't saw that as much as the player traded returns to his previous team and signs again as a FA.
  17. And so would all of us. Gimme the league min. and I'd serve drinks during the games.
  18. Damon actually said he wants to be a Cub or he said he likes the Cubs? Just wondering!!! I really don't see that going down. Especially for Corey Patterson, Sergio Mitre, and a lower prospect. They would want Pie and more.
  19. Problem with this line of thinking is the Cubs still need a left fielder.
  20. now what we do is trade them corey, walker and mitre for lewford/shannonstewart/jacquejones and lecroy/crain No Thanks. Think I'll pass.
  21. Stone doesn't have any inside information. Period. He speaks in rhetorical, rambling terms. He's not the baseball Einstein than some make him out to be. I'm pretty much sick of the fact no one has seen through this. Listen to him talk sometime-he doesn't actually *say* anything that is insightful. Good in-game color guy. Bad baseball mind. Bad judge of talent. He'd make an awful GM. Look at that Trade. We take on $30m extra in payroll and give up several players for 2 players that are no better than what we already have. For Stone to suggest trading a 27 year old entering his prime for a 33 year old leaving his prime than makes twice as much is idiotic. His original idea, which was Manny and Mueller for Aramis and others, is completely stupid. Basically, we'd be trading for the 2001 Cubs. Manny would play Sosa, and Mueller would be himself. How did that team do? Mueller is basically no better than Murton would be everyday in LF, and Aramis is every bit as good as Manny. All you accomplish is taking on salary while shifting your production from one position to another, but you aren't any better. Well, I'm not advocating it, but team ops would be up 130 points and Manny's a long way from done. Get him out of Boston and he may put up a 1.000+ ops again. I know some of you don't believe in change of scenery stuff, so no need to berate me. I accept being wrong. Also, I hope that Wood goes to TX to help absord the additional payroll. The Cubs can just retain Patterson. Aramis Ramirez is one of the best hitters in the major leagues. Aramis Ramirez has yet to enter his prime. Aramis Ramirez is not overpaid. Keep Aramis Ramirez. Let me also go on record as saying I'm not against a trade for a left-fielder, IF he can move to right next year. Matt Murton will be a star. All the talk of upgrading our team OPS is fairly irrelevant due to Hollandsworth and Perez. With Nomar and Murton we are a FAR better team. RELAX guys. Stoney said this was sports talk radio and thats what were suppose to do is talk sports. He even went on to say something to the effect that he HADN'T heard this from anyone and it was just his way to bring in that big outfield bat, and a better defensive glove at 3rd.(Mueller) He also said that after this year the money would balance with Sammy, Remmy and everyone else salaries coming off the books.
