  1. assuming Ramirez heals quickly which i doubt is the case since i read he might need surgery as soon as the season ends. The bullpen is terrible and will cost us this season just like 2004
  2. Well its more like a complete moron GM getting rid of a ton of players on a team that won 97 games last year. Its nice to see that the cubs literally changed everything because we got swept in the playoffs ignoring the fact that you have to get to the playoffs to actually win in the playoffs
  3. This is 2004 all over again, a shaky bullpen with a really bad closer LOU --- NEVER TRUST ANYONE WITH 2 FIRST NAMES
  4. And im going to Cincy for all 3 games, man that was a goof 2 month ago
  5. He better come back fast because Juan Pierre is just as good if not better than him according to a unnamed ESPN announcer who isint Steve Phillips and Jon Morgan. He played 2nd base for a certain Cincinnati team
  6. seems like his bat is just slower. he's watching a lot of pitches on the outer half and hoping to get bailed out by the umps. it seems unlikely to me that it's a matter of the league figuring him out - he was plenty good last year, even the later part of the season. it may be that he just put too much weight on in the offseason and is back to being the mediocre hitter that he looked like every year but the two that he was in good shape. I agree eventhough last year they had him 5 pounds heavier than this year (according to baseball reference and cubs.com).
  7. He will be, he is being prepped for the MLB job and its his once Lou is gone.
  8. i dont know of any place that would really be a good spot for a MLB team. OKC would be a ok idea if they had a smart and very fast way to move 40k people out of the way of a tornado.
  9. if hendry was going to get another 3rd baseman, it would have happened a few weeks ago. of course they will sign someone tomorrow :P
  10. i guess the sarcasm in my post flew right over your head
  11. I agree, like i said before its not his fault that Hendry signed a bunch of crap
  12. man if the fence was moved in 20 feet we would lead the majors in HR's with all the warning track power this team has
  13. i think i know less about baseball now after listening to Joe Morgan
  14. Jim Hendry could have Fleeced teams when he traded Greg Maddux and Jason Marquis instead we got a guy who played for us for 2 weeks and is now with the Indians and Cesar Izturis
  15. Rothschild is one of the best pitching coaches in the game. 12th in ERA this year 5th in 2008====3rd in WHIP 4th in 2007====4th in WHIP 2005 and 2006 were bad years 3rd in 2004====3rd in WHIP 5th in 2003====10th in WHIP Guzman has fought injuries through most of his Career, Mark Prior for one season was completely dominating, Clement was very good for us along with Dempster, Lilly etc. Sure its not all Rothschild but its not Rothschilds fault that Jim Hendry went out and signed average to below average relief. Starting pitching has not been a problem, the bullpen has sucked. Sure this next stat isint all inclusive but take what you want from it the Cubs in 2009 Innings 1-6, they have a 3.64 ERA (last year 3.90) Inning 7+ have a 5.51 ERA. (last year 3.81)
  16. Sounds like that team actually won something though. So no, it's not worse. Winning the NL Central is a lot harder than winning the North Dakota state title in anything. Not when you are given a $40 million dollar head start. too bad the cubs have someone who makes terrible decisions with that amount of money
  17. Honestly, the contact was about as minor as it really gets. I don't think anyone purposely bumped anyone. It was more like a brush than a bump. brush, bump whatever, it looked like he made contact with Z on purpose and that simply cannot be done
  18. ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!? i thought it was like 15 or 20... screw this, i'm outta here to become a red sox fan. I could have sworn there was 1 in the late 80's/early 90's. No? Didn't we win one in 2003? I went out of the country after Game 4 of the NLCS and didn't get a chance to see any of the remaining scores. Are you Serious, please tell me that you are joking around
  19. What do the last 100 years have to do with this one? Do you really think that fans operate in some vortex? If people were born within a year, loved the Cubs then died within that year you might have a point. But people live 65+ years, and experience the long droughts of this pathetic franchise. The goal is to win the world series. Until the Cubs do, they will have that stigma, and so will the fans. That's the perception. Still doesn't answer why I shouldn't be positive about this team because the Wrigley family was too cheap to spend money on good players in the 80s and 90s for example. and then letting one the the very best pitchers of all time walk away
  20. its not like anyone is running away with the division like in 2004 and the cards. There isint much good about this team but there are some things like the starting pitching which has been pretty good overall and Randy Wells has really surprised me. This team looks like the team that showed up in the playoffs. I like your positive energy, but the Cubs just aren't good. This is a different team with Ramirez in the middle of the lineup. They arent good right now but they were decent with Ramirez. This team isint really as far as you think it is. Is this team as good as last years, no but id rather fight my way into the playoffs like in 2003 then stroll in like last year
  21. its not like anyone is running away with the division like in 2004 and the cards. There isint much good about this team but there are some things like the starting pitching which has been pretty good overall and Randy Wells has really surprised me.
  22. the cubs are hitting .248 with RISP this year, last year they hit .278, take that along with the huge OBP difference from this year and last and not hitting with risp is that much more magnified
  23. Why are you even here? It's really unfair for so many of you to claim to hate/not care about this team and then not follow through. This team has lost 9 of 11. Those 2 wins were a 5th inning rain shortened game and a 8th inning win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. a win is a win, honestly you sound like someone who just started watching the cubs last year because they were good and now are sour because they arent playing well
  24. Ramirez can not come back soon enough
  25. it was a bad trade but im more angry about Hendry trading Marquis for nothing more than a guy who was gone so smardigisaizia could be called up and sent down
