  1. i was reading Dave Kaplans blog and he said that Hendry is looking really hard for another slugger
  2. maybe we can steal berkman from houston
  3. Negotiation tactic. The Cubs will be sold to Ricketts and no one else. i know but i figured id just post it in here instead of making it a new thread.
  4. I'd take Ryan Freel 10 times out of 10 over Gathright. i wouldnt have signed Gathright in the first place
  5. the entire Freel deal was just a deal to say he made a deal.
  6. Zell cast doubts on the sale http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2009/05/cubs-zell-ricketts.html
  7. just a bruise
  8. I don't think it's the slump that is of concern. It's the fact that he's physically doing the same things that caused him to fail miserably last year. The whole stepping towards first base thing is ridiculous. I don't know about you guys, but I was taught in little league that you put your foot back down TOWARDS THE PITCHER. I realize this could be a difference in teaching between Japan and the US, but I just don't see why Kosuke can't shake it. If someone told me right now to take a step in a certain direction, it would certainly not be a difficult task. I mean, isn't anyone actually telling Kosuke this stuff? Does he not notice or what? Are you serious? Do you really think teaching a 33 year old (or however old he is, im not going to check) an entire new swing is as easy as a 5 year old in little league?
  9. Scales needs to be in that lineup at 3rd instead of Fontenot
  10. another thing the 2004 team had huge problems doing that this team also has, so many runner were left on base you know who else left runners on base? the 2008 cubs curiously the best offensive teams in history also leave runners on base I WONDER WHY there is a big difference in leaving runners on when you keep putting up big numbers and when you cant get runners home RISP 2008 Cubs .278 2004 Cubs .266 you do realize those numbers are almost identical right OBP for the 2004 Cubs was .329 OBP for the 2008 Cubs was .352 Yes the numbers are almost the same but when you are getting on base at a much larger rate, you are going to both score more runs and leave more runners on base.

  12. whats going to happen once we find a way to score runs, our pitching will then give up 8 runs a game
  13. Miles didnt steal anyhting, Hendry should be fired for giving it to him
  14. another thing the 2004 team had huge problems doing that this team also has, so many runner were left on base
  15. Too bad he couldn't do it in '03. what angers me about that is it was like his first hit of the series, if i remember correctly he couldnt hit anything up till that
  16. its not quite that bad but this team is extremely streaky like in 2004, score a ton of runs 1 game, go cold the next
  17. i can deliver it to his house if you want, he lives right by me
  18. when all else fails.... beer will make it better
  19. personally i think he added to much weight and that really messed up his timing
  20. Yes he has had a bad night but its not like anyone else has done anything either
  21. scales should start everyday, at least he is getting on base
  22. it would take oh so very much to even get back to good Not really. I'd just like to see some assertiveness out of Piniella and the front office. They're just assuming various players are going to "snap out of it", which isn't good enough. various players = pretty much everyone on this team with the exception of the SP
