  1. He is the most useless person on all of ESPN in my opinion, and that is hard considering ESPN is FULL of useless people in every sport.
  2. Well, Gammons seems to be wrong about 100% of the time too.
  3. Haven't heard much about him. Does anyone know where he is going to end up? I wouldn't think there is, but is there any chance he signs back with the Cubs?
  4. For the record the Cubs have won the last two division championships and the Cardinals haven't. The Cardinals may do somethings better than we do, but trading for a guy like Khalil Greene isn't it.
  5. I'm a fan of the way these guys have preformed. Especially Fuld. If you look at Asciano's numbers they are pretty darn good too in limited time. His ERA is inflated to 2.87 because of one bad outing.
  6. How you make that post after reading BBB's post above is dumbfounding to me He's not even in the top 15 of starting SS I'd rather have. Ramirez Reyes Rollins Hardy Furcal Young Drew Jeter Peralta Escobar Aybar Cabrera Tejada Renteria Aviles Lowrie Tulowitski 17 reasons you're not a GM. I think Theriot is a fine shortstop and all, but to sit there and say you'd rather have Ryan Theriot over Hanley Ramirez or Jimmy Rollins or Jose Reyes is either one of the silliest things I've ever heard or one of the largest sarchasms I've ever fallen into I think ya'll are both taking it from one extreme to another. I don't think that guy stated he was better than Ramirez, Rollins, or Reyes. Granted Theriot isn't as good as that guy thinks either. He is a solid player for our team considering how little he makes, and isn't a guy we should be willing to run off. If Fontenot can play short, and we could have a platoon of Fontenot/Theriot. I believe that is very much of above league average offensively.
  7. Wow. There's so much... I mean... The delusion... Wow. Where to begin? He had an OPS under 600 had year. He had 100 K's in the 105 games compared to 22 base on balls. He drove in a whopping 35 runs. I'm not arguing Theriot is a much better player, but if we are looking to make an upgrade at SS their has to be someone else much better out there to waist our time on than Khalil Greene. He thinks power when he is at the plate, and he isn't that good at hitting for power. Yeah he has hit over 10 home runs his whole career, but that is strictly because he is ALWAYS swinging for the fence.
  8. Today will bring my career record back to an even 2-2. I'm 0-2 so far. I'm 1-0!!!
  9. This guy blows. Just what I want a power hitting SS who really isn't that much of a power hitter, strikes out all the time, and hits in the low .200s. He can't do anything small ball like move the runners over or anything like that, plus he isn't a good fielder. Why do any of you possibly want this ugly looking jackass? This was like his fourth year in the bigs, and he has only gotten worse. He went from a fan favorite in San Diego to a nobody. I had the pleasure of watching him go 0-4 with 4 K's last year at Petco. He struck out to end the game, and the whole crowd booed him. You can say what you want about Theriot, but at least the guy puts the ball in play. We already have enough strike out victims on this team. (Soriano, DeRosa, Lee, Soto) This guy won't help us at all.
  10. He's better than any of those guys in most cases alot better. His ERA on the road has been over 4.20 2 of the last 3 years. Granted I still think he is a great pitcher, but he isn't worth risking the whole team over. In case everyone missed it, this team was pretty damn good last year. We just didn't come to play for three games. That happens sometimes. IF we can get Peavy, and not have to give up an important piece of the lineup than I'm all for it. I just don't see that being the case. I still think the solution to me would be move DeRosa to RF and trade for Brian Roberts. Get another LHP for the pen, and try and get Burnett.
  11. Street is nothing to Beane. His experience is that solid closers grow on trees. Greg Smith, while still just 26, has no control and slightly above average strikeout stuff but gives up quite a few longballs. He's not really a Beane type pitcher. I am not surprised he flipped Gonzalez at all. I figured Gonzalez would get traded. His perceived value is much higher than his actual value (in Beane's eyes). I really don't think Beane makes this deal unless he thinks he has enough money to sign Holliday long term. I honestly don't see him giving up a whole lot Beat me to it.
  12. Street is a blah of a player IMO, and was on the way out in Oakland this offseason no matter what. I wouldn't worry about Greg Smith if I was an A's fan so much considering they always have good young starting pitching. Carlos Gonzalez is definitely a good young player, but how long are the A's going to look towards the future? They finally went out and got a player in his prime. Great deal IMO, and just what they needed. A bat they can put in the middle of the order.

  14. Haha wow, I said the s word, in that first line, I find out incredibly funny that Howry has taken the place of the word hahaha.
  15. You know [expletive], I've posted two pretty negative threads so far tonight, but I am asking all of you to come together now. This isn't over. It truly isn't. We have Harden vs. Kuroda, we can win that. We can comeback, I want to post this, and I truly want all positive posts in this thread. If you are down and you are out, I understand, don't post here, and I don't blame you. But lets have some kind of thread that at least over the next two days we can feel somewhat positive about. Lets have a thread that is nothing but positive uplifting posts. Go Cubs. Lets win three damn games in a row!!!!! It can happen, I swear it can freaking happen!
  16. So this might be repetitive, and if it is sorry, but my brother said to me tonight, are you going to be pumped about next year? I will say this, as much as a long shot as it is I'm not giving up on this year, and I truly think we can come back. With all that said, it's true, we actually won 97 games this year. How much better can we do during the regular season next year? It just all comes down to the damn post season and these [expletive] 5 game series. Someone lift my spirits please, please, please lift my spirits. It sucks, if we lose one of these last three, its going to be really hard to be amped up about next year. This will be the worst offseason ever.
  17. I responded to this thread without reading any responses, so I am sorry if this is exactly what anyone else said, but my lineup Saturday would be this. 1. LF- Soriano 2. RF- Johnson 3. 1B- Lee 4. 3B- Aramis 5. CF- Edmonds 6. 2B- DeRosa 7. C- Soto 8. SS- Theriot
  18. I for some reason have some confidence when he comes to the plate. I realize he hasn't done that much so far in this series, but I just said to my brother if their is anyone on our team who might hit a home run here, it is him, and he came pretty close. If we have any shot to come back in this series, he is going to do something good. He actually comes up with big hits.
  19. The Brewers look to rebound from their loss in the first game of the series. I guess they couldn't ask for a better guy to put on the mound. This will be his fourth consecutive start on 3 days rest, wonder if it will finally catch up to him and the Brewers? C.C. Sabathia 17-10, 2.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 251 K's http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/sabathia3.jpg at The Phillies throw out the wife beater, who has pitched much better as of late than he did at the start of the year. He did however get really touched up in his last two starts. Brett Myers- 10-13, 4.55 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 163 K's http://philadelphia.comcastsportsnet.com/images/content/phillies/022608-myers.jpg I care so little about this game right now, Go Brewers today. Hell, if we can win our series, I guess I hope they have a long series as well.
  20. This was the worst day of work ever, all I can do is think about this game. God, it can't get here quick enough.
  21. NL MVP 1. Albert Pujols 2. Ryan Howard 3. Lance Berkman 4. Carlos Delgado 5. Aramis Ramirez 6. Ryan Braun 7. Manny Ramirez 8. Hanley Ramirez 9. Carlos Beltran 10. C.C. Sabathia NL Cy Young 1. 22. It seems insane to me that some of you don't have Howard higher. With RISP he hit .320. With RISP and less than 2 outs he hit .322. In September he hit .352 with 11 home runs. He led the league in home runs and RBIs. Granted his OPS might not be that great. The thing is he swings for the fences a lot with no one on base. He figures how much is a two out single really going to help my team. With men on he hit .309. I know a lot of you hate RBIs, and I am not even going to get in that argument, but the guy does close his swing up with men on base, and tries to drive in runs instead of swinging for the fences. With men on he OPSed over 1.000. One thing going against him is the fact that he was terrible late in games, but in all honesty I think he might be the most important player to his team that decided the outcome of their game. He also OPSed .964 in the second half and hit .274. From May on he hit .266, 43 HRs, 134 RBIs.
  23. For the Brewers, they have Yovani Gallardo throwing for the only the second time since he tore his ACL at Wrigley. Gallardo- 0-0, 1.88 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 20 K's http://www.cahnlitigation.com/toetheslab/images/Post%20Images/Gallardo.jpg For the Phillies, they have this crafty young lefty throwing. Cole Hamels- 14-10, 3.09 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 196 K's http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/images/2006/12/15/qPbcXCvL.jpg Just for kicks this is his wife. http://i.realone.com/assets/rn/img/2/5/3/7/16547352-16547354-large.jpg Hamels has been quite dominating as of late. He has had quality starts in nine of his last 10 outings. We have to take care of our business, but honestly lets go Phillies. The Brewers made the playoffs, thats about all I can stand.
  24. My first was when Maddux faced Clemens a few years back. That was my first at Wrigley at least. I went to at least 2 of the 3 games everytime the Cubs played down in Atlanta since it is only a 3 hour drive for me.
  25. Is our game with them, if had to be played on Monday?
