  1. Probably way wrong, and yall all might disagree, but as of right now if I could pick a team to take to spring training it would be.... C Geovany Soto Henry Blanco Infield Mike Fontenot Ryan Theriot Derrek Lee Aramas Ramirez Mark DeRosa Daryle Ward Alex Cintron Outfield Alfonso Soriano Felix Pie Kosuke Fukudome Matt Murton Starters Carlos Zambrano Ted Lilly Rich Hill Jason Marquis Sean Marshall Relievers Bob Howry- 8th Kerry Wood- 9th Carlos Marmol- 7th Michael Wuertz Kevin Hart Tim Lahey Scott Eyre
  2. My sources tell me that Derrek Lee is going to start at First Base.
  3. since anything and everything has been posted in this thread, and everyone looks at it, quick question, how much is mlb gameday radio, and how much is mlb gameday tv for the internet? I am definitely going to buy one, but not sure which yet. Also, if anybody how much is MLB extra innings? Thanks in advance!!
  4. He's even more a North Carolina guy, born in Durham and completing his college baseball career at UNC after transferring from USC. You are actually wrong there. You have it flip-flopped. His dad was the head coach at UNC when he was playing there, then his dad got fired. So he transfered from UNC to USC, where he graduated. He did play more years at North Carolina then he did at South Carolina, but he graduated (well, don't know if he graduated) but he finished his career before going to the minors at South Carolina.
  5. I don't think the Indians would be a good fit for him. They already have two players who can't really play any position all that well in Hafner and Martinez. If they got Bonds, they would have to play Hafner at 1B, and Victor catch. Not a very good combination there defensively. I look at a team like the Mariners to get him. They would be the best fit in my opinion. Still think the A's would be a great fit too. I can't imagine they are going to be all that good this year, but why not give yourself the best chance to win. It isn't even like Bonds is asking for all that much money, he just really wants to play. And to the poster above, I would agree he is above average. I'd still rank Bonds in the top 10-20 best hitters in the majors, strictly on his OBP alone.
  6. I can tell you this, if the Cubs played in the AL I would love for them to pick up Barry Bonds and DH him. I can't understand these AL teams that won't sign Bonds and DH him. One of these teams is going to definitely regret it. He is still an above average hitter.
  7. Where in carolina do you live Columbia, SC My sister goes to school there. Welcome to the board! Well, me and your sister have that in common, because I go to USC too. I've always lived in Columbia though. It is great school and a great town.
  8. Well this account was pretty quick getting activated, but I have tried about three or four other accounts that never got activated, don't know why?? All the usernames were pretty similar to this one, so I don't think it was anything in the username that was profane or anything like that. But yeah, I have been reading this site for about three years now and I am a big fan. I don't always agree with everyone, but they are all cubs fans, so I love them all. But disagreeing is what message boards are for.
  9. Long time reader, first time poster (mostly to the fact that, I have tried now about five different names to get on here, and finally the mods accepted me) but my opinion on this situation is Roberts would be GREAT for us. I can understand the fact that people try and say that he isn't that much of an upgrade over Derosa, and that is a big maybe, but I can somewhat see where yall are coming from. The thing is though Dero is a unbelievable upgrade over Fontenot or Cedeno on the bench. When it comes to the Soriano situation, if I truly believed Alfonso could move down in the order and still produce like he does in the number one spot, I would want him hitting 4 or 5 strictly so he could drive more runs in. The thing is though it doesn't seem as if he feels comfortable at all hitting there so I say leave him at 1 and bat Roberts in the two hole if we get him. Everyone on here knows come opening day they would love to see Roberts hitting 2nd instead of Theriot, no matter if you are for or against the trade. Plus B Roberts is a South Carolina boy, and I am a huge fan, so I have a little biased opinion when it comes to that. Maybe Justin Smoak can slip to us, or in all seriousness, kind of off topic, (when it comes to this thread, yall have talked about everything, so I don't honestly think anything is off topic) but Reese Havens has been killing it for USC this year, if he keeps doing what he is doing, I would love to see the Cubs draft him at 19. (I think that is their pick???)
