  1. These Rays announcers have such little knowledge of the Cubs, all this color guy can talk about is how Marmol throws sliders when he should throw fast balls. Watch our games this year you idiot.
  2. It is in such jeopardy considering the game is three innings in for us, and Kazmir has already thrown 57 pitches. We will score a couple runs this game, I guarantee it. Lets just hope Dempster can keep it close until Kazmir tires.
  3. No way Kazmir can go deep into this game if he continues to go to three ball counts. We need to keep working him, and get him out of the game, or battle him down, and then beat up on him when he gets tired.
  4. What stat do you want? 7th in the NL in slugging among 1B, 16th in the NL in OBP, 8th in OPS, 6th in HRs, 8th in batting average, 11th in walks, 7th in K's. 8th in RARP, 7th in VORP, 6th in EQR, 9th in Win Shares. He does lead the NL in DPs, though. And ABs. Nobody's hating on players. Some of us are just being realistic, and some of us are spouting nonsense to make themselves feel better about a baseless opinion. Derrek Lee has no business being an all-star this year based on numbers. He isn't having a bad year. That is all I am saying, people try to make it seem Derrek has just been terrible this year. I don't think he should be an all-star, but you are crazy if you don't think he will be considered. It seems like almost every single thread on here is some thread bashing a player. Lee had a great April, struggled in May. I am pretty sure it will even out as the year goes on.
  5. DeRosa as an All Star? I don't know about that. I think the only two positions where the Cubs shouldn't get all star consideration is 2B and CF. DeRosa's actually been the third best 2B in the NL this year (though far behind Uggla and Utley). If there's any position that shouldn't get all-star consideration after CF, it's 1B. Yeah because he has been the fourth best offensive first baseman, and the best defensive first baseman means he shouldn't get any consideration? Closer to the 12th best offensive first baseman with a .275 EQA, behind Berkman, Pujols, Gonzalez, Helton, Fielder, Conor Jackson, and Teixeira in the NL alone. And Lee hasn't exactly been the best defensive first baseman this year. Average, though. Yeah, because that is the only stat that matters. I've watched most all Cubs and Braves games this year, and if you truly think Tex has had a better year then Lee, then you are a joke. Disregard his home run totals, and the fact that he still has a decent batting average. Defense has been average, wow. He has made some amazing plays late in games this year. But hate on players thats always fun.

  7. I don't really know what to think about these things one way or another, but it is always fun to look at them especially when we are on top. As of June 6th, Espn's power rankings looked like this...1. Cubs 2. Phillies 3. Angels 4. Red Sox 5. Cardinals 6. White Sox 7. Athletics 8. Rays 9. Blue Jays 10. Brewers. One thing I notice in that is that their is 3 NL Central teams in the top 10 more then any other division. My top 10 would look like this.. 1. Boston Red Sox 2. Chicago Cubs 3. Los Angeles Angels 4. Philadelphia Phillies 5. Tampa Bay Rays 6. Oakland Athletics 7. Arizona Diamondbacks 8. Chicago White Sox 9. Florida Marlins 10. St.Louis Cardinals How would yours look?
  8. I don't even have words for that. I guess Barrett never made Z a pizza, and that is what pissed him off?
  9. I want either Joshua Fields or Reese Havens. Fields is just flat out sick, and Havens is an exceptional SS, a position that I would say is probably our biggest need. He has the size, the bat, and he has an unbelievable glove. Coming out of high school he was going to be a 1st round pick by the Red Sox, but he wanted to come to school at South Carolina. Coincidentally the Red Sox took Jacoby Ellsbury with that pick. Havens struggled his first two years at the plate, but he really grew up this year. He changed his stance which led him to be able to get around on pitches much better, and he also had an exceptional season in the Cape last year. All three years at Carolina he had a great glove.
  10. Yeah same here, I was pulling for them big time, maybe due to the fact that they were playing the Cards and Yankees too though. Honestly now, I hate the Red Sox about as bad as I do the Yankees. Throughout the years they acted like they were some truthful franchise, and the Yankees were these big bad monsters. Even though the Yankees still have a lot bigger payroll, the Red Sox are basically 1B when it comes to crazily spending money. I guess to the Red Sox credit, they actually use their money and prospects to get good young pitching. (Dice K, Beckett) While the Yankees go over spend stars in their 30's. I feel like ever since 04 when the Red Sox won it all, the media infatuation with that so called unbelievable rivalry has gotten that much more sickening.
  11. I'm not really sure whether or not ya'll have done this before, but myself, no I haven't ever seen a thread like this. Quite frankly I don't really think their was any need for your post in this thread except to just bitch for no reason.
  12. Obviously it is hard to pull for any team but the Cubs, but I'd have to say my second favorite team is the A's. Mostly due to the fact that my older brother is a big Athletics can, but we never really play them outside of Spring Training, so it isn't hard to pull for them. I could never ever pull for any NL team, but it is fun to watch the A's game as well, and have a second team since they usually have the late night games and it is easy to watch them on MLB.tv or whatever else. Plus Oakland has always had really good young pitchers that are fun too watch, and I think it is incredible that they have been as successful as they have with such a limited budget. So my question to yall is if you have a second favorite team, who is it and why?
  13. Maybe just maybe this Edmonds thing will work out this year.....as much as I bashed him at the start, he is starting to prove me and everyone else wrong.
  14. what's most impressive is that the cubs have scored 6 or more runs in nearly half of their games. i wonder if the '06 cubs had 27 games of 6+ runs all year. Yeah I was going to say that too, but I didn't wanna double post. It is very nice to see Fuku stealing bases.
  15. 25-2 when scoring 6 or more runs. That is impressive. That means that when our hitters do their job, the pitchers make sure they do theirs as well.
  16. D-LEE!!! LOL. Nice inning by Lieber to bounce back after the lead off double. Wouldn't it be great if won a game where Lieber and Cotts got holds?
  17. It wouldn't have been a force out thus meaning the run would have counted. Not 100% sure that is correct, but pretty positive, someone help me on this?
  18. I buy MLB.tv just now for $89.95. The first play I see is Z picking off Gerut. I think I'm the lucky charm. I am so happy I bought this living in SC, I get to see only the nationally televised games.
  19. I honestly am not that worried. He is seeing the ball well, and not swinging and missing. If he keeps putting the ball in play as much as he is right now, then he is going to catch a few breaks and get some base hits. I would like to see him try and hit more line drives this year. But you have to take the good with the bad, because he is hitting fly balls which leads to his 13 home runs. Which are WAY up from last year. I don't have a problem with him swinging the backs. He is an RBI guy, so I love the aggressiveness. We have good OBP guys. We need to Derrek to drive the runs in and swing the bat.
