  1. I know this is outside the box thinking, but what abotu Tex for LF with Soriano to RF, and Fuku to CF? I know it's been a few yrs since he's played LF, and it's a very small sample (career numbers as a LFer: .294/.415/.706/1.121/.273 in 34 atbats/41 PA). I know it's prolly not even talked about, but Tex, Fuku, and Sori are all athlethic enough to move positions for half a season, and would allow the Cubs to get another bat. But the problem I see is do the Cubs have enough to make the Braves pass on getting a couple of picks?
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3508272&name=mlb_trade_deadline i don't know why they choose joba as a comparison when jenks is probably a better comparison, considering like the angels in '02, the white sox won in '05 actually nevermind, i do know why they choose joba to compare, its espn. Buster Olney said on "Mike and Mike" this morning the reason for the Joba's comparasion, is simply because of the electricity that each pitcher (Shark/Joba) brought to their resepctive teams.
  3. Let's look on the bright side, Marquis did miss the "Ervin Santana definition of a good start" by one run..... (Imitating Bill Murray from Caddyshack) He has that going for him.
  4. Three simple letters...........D----F-------A.
  5. No offense wolf, but this move to start Carp, reeks of desparation.
  6. IDK if anybody could tell or not, but Shark brings a certain "moxie" with him to the mound. A swagger, if you will. I think the Cubs missed Soriano's swagger alot, as much as his baseball skills.
  7. This is why i think Cuban bid so high. I think he's banking on no other bidder going as high. Forcing baseball to have to accept his deal, because his bid by far the highest. I'm still cautiously optimstic about Cuban chances, but I still won't believe until I see tho.
  8. You know those Dick's, there tricky.
  9. First: CC is due for his first NL royal butt kicking, so I think the Cubs are going to do that. I know alot of people are not going off the limb and make a hard prediction, but I will, the Cubs will win 3 games.
  10. Why would you say that? Casey Dick is you quarterback. :D At least there's still a chance you'll be saved from the cellar by Ole Miss. Though they're worlds better with Orgeron out and Nutt in. You're forgetting the younger Dick on the QB depth chart. Casey's brother, Nathan, is his backup. (Mallet can't play till 2009)
  11. Your posting here is becoming less and less constructive Beertown, ElCaballo is one of the good non-Cub fans on this site, so chill my friend, and don't treat him like some random ESPN troll trash.
  12. I fixed your statement, because you can make the case for Albert Pujols.
  13. Didn't Hanley Ramirez just signed 6 yr extension?
  14. The Cubs will win this game. I'm thinking Sotobomb will give the Cubs the win. This game just feels like a win for me.
  15. I wonder if we can petition baseball to move the Marlins to the AL?
  16. That Wolf .v. Suppan matchup should be epic.
  17. If by chance the Cubs fall behind, one of the catchers missing a high fastball wouldn't bother me at all. Say sometime in the 9th inning... :-$ http://tidefans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72296 You mean like this?
  18. Does Fontenot count as half a run as he is approx. half the size of a real baseball player? :D And don't be messing with Sneaky Power.
  19. I'd be willing to take Manny's contract off their hands, if they would take Marquis/Howry off the Cubs hands... Even at this stage of his career and with that contract, I think Manny is out of our price range. I know that, I was just saying that if Boston wants Manny's contract off the books, they would have to take back atleast one slightly less crappy contract.
  20. Most people will say with Marquis on the mound and the Cubs have no shot at winning. So seeing as Marquis is kinda defiant, I say he gives us 7 strong inning s 5 hits 1 r ball, and the Cubs win 2.5 to 1.
  21. By multiple games.
  22. We'll see if this gos as well as Mulders return. He may go longer then 17 pitches, but I pretty sure Carp will be rocked badly.
  23. That is true. IMO, if the Yankees can cut ties with Hawkins, then WTH are the Cubs thinking with keeping Howry?
  24. Rios is a RF locked into a long-term deal. The Cubs would have to move Fukudome to CF to make room for Rios.
