  1. Even tho I don't think they are the best team in football---I don't see a clear cut best team in America---because they don't play defense. With that said, I much rather let Texas have that target on their back then my team. Thus I much rather let Texas be ranked #1.
  2. You have to be carefully when you make a statement like this. Of course, Santana's stuff isn't as good today as it was a few yrs ago, but guess what, very few---if any---pitcher can maintain the level of the stuff throughout their career. Look at Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, etc, etc their stuff today is nowhere near as good as their stuff was even a decade ago. That's a product of getting older, and it's no different with Santana.
  3. Which is a product of losing alot of quality players to the NFL.
  4. I agree with this. No way Bama finishes the year unbeaten. I could easily see them with 2 losses going into their bowl game. Tennessee, Arkansas State, LSU, MSU and Auburn are left on Alabama schedule. MSU and Arky State are IMO locks for wins for Bama. I won't call anything against LSU or Tennessee locks, but beating one or both of them is a real possibility. but if I had my guess it would be Alabama beating Tennesse and losing to LSU. And Auburn, this will be a blowout win for Alabama. That team is so close---if they haven't already---to quitting on Tuberville it is not even funny. I do agree to a point Alabama COULD lose two games with their remaining game, but highly unlikely. Right now, I would put Alabama's chances at running the table at 50/50 cause their schedule is definately favorable for them to run it.
  5. And I do agree with this. My arguement is that people like IMB and Sully thinks if there team plays Alabama they would blast Bama, and that is not true. Alabama is a really good team, who has flaws. I would put Alabama up against any team in America. But I also don't think Alabama peaked yet, I do think they have a really good game or two left in them. So yes, while I do overrate the SEC, is because non--SEC folks underrate the conference.
  6. 17-14 Kentucky 24-20 Ole Miss Beating Clemson is not impressive. They're 3-4. Alabama beat Clemson when they were the 9th in the nation. This revisionalist argument has got to stop. You can't fault Alabama for Clemson for sucking after that game. As for Kentucky and Ole Miss these two teams are very good, on the rise SEC teams that have really good defenses. These teams can beat any team in football. Kentucky and Ole Miss are quality oppenents that Alabama has beaten, and by the end of the yr BOTH will be playing in good size bowl games. I overrate the SEC because too many people underrate the conference.
  7. Like fans of other conferences (coughsBig12coughs) don't overrated their conferences? Please SEC fans are not the only ones who overrate their conference. SEC football is real football, Big 12 football is Arena Football.
  8. People hate Alabama because when Alabama is good, they are REALLY good and can dominate. People like IMB and Sully doesn't Alabama to return cause they know Nick Saban will make this team the envy of college football, when they want NCAA to slurp their schools. That's why they don't get respected, and that is why Alabama is going to have to earn it on the field.
  9. Texas couldn't rape Oklahoma....what makes you think they could Alabama? Alabama plays this thing call defense, something Texas hasn't seen all yr. Texas severely outclasses Alabama. alabama wouldn't break double figures against texas without a pick-six :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Carrot Top is that you, cause you are too funny.
  10. I agree dew. Most people who don't follow Alabama or the SEC don't realize how good Alabama can be. While they are not a complete team yet, they have talent and the coaching to beat ANY TEAM in America. The feeling I get as to why Alabama's offense is "vanilla" right now, if because Jim McElwing (however your spell his name) is still trying to figure out the strengths and weakness of the team. Right now Alabama strength is running the ball. It would be a mistake of any team to underestimate Alabama. Clemson and Georgia both did, and they paid dearly. And if fans of teams like Texas/USC/OSU think Alabama would be an easy game they would be mistaken. Alabama is a legit top 5 team who can beat any team in America.
  11. Texas couldn't rape Oklahoma....what makes you think they could Alabama? Alabama plays this thing call defense, something Texas hasn't seen all yr.
  12. Beat Bama. Is that game in Knoxville? Yes, and not likely. Alabama plays better on the road right now....Tennessee couldn't beat Auburn, so I doubt they'll beat Alabama. But this is the SEC so who knows... I don't think Alabama is that great. Texas, PSU, USC, OU, and UF would blast them I think. Obviously I have to disagree.. But the feeling I get is that you don't watch Alabama too much, do you? I will admit Alabama isn't great simply because of their youth, but they are a really good team. The biggest concern I have with Alabama is that they don't play a COMPLETE game. They play 48 mintues, or 30 mintues, but not a 60 mintues game. And while I could see Alabama losing to any or all of them, but Alabama can beat any or all them also. But I promise none of those teams would "blast" Alabama. That I would guarantee.
  13. Beat Bama. Is that game in Knoxville? Yes, and not likely. Alabama plays better on the road right now....Tennessee couldn't beat Auburn, so I doubt they'll beat Alabama. But this is the SEC so who knows...
  14. Tough win for Bama, for the second straight game, but dang a costly win. 1: Cody will be out atleast a couple of weeks and 2: Coffee can't hold onto the ball. Atleast Alabama has arguably the best young RB prospect in Mark Ingram to replace him. OMC, don't be upset about the loss. This was the one game, post GA, I thought Alabama had a shot at losing (even moreso then LSU, sorry Vance). And while he wasn't as active as last yr, Greg Hardy is a monsterous beast of a player. Arguably the most talented defensive player in America right now.
  15. I understand what Holtz was trying to say, and like Nick Saban comparing a loss to September 11, it was uncall for. Do I think Holtz should be fired....no, should he be kept off the air for awhile....yes.
  16. Yep, the Cubs should offer a prize package to every massive tool that goes through some melodramatic charade like this. Let that sinkhole in New England absorb this douchebag. He'll fit in perfectly. Yep. That tool who tried to sell his loyalty would fit in perfectly with those tools up in New Yorkngland.
  17. Either a useful player or a really good player, doesn't matter he will be a player that teams will make a play for. He won't be a Top 25 player, but he will definately be a player that will be productive for a long time. I know the stats about Lee, and something tells me Lee was injured without letting anybody know about it or he was distracted for some reason. I think he will have a solid rebound yr in 2009, regardless if it's with the Cubs, or not. But your bet that Lee wouldn't reach .805 OPS would be an easy win for those who believe he will.
  18. I know it's been mention that some think the Cubs would have to offer Soto to get the Padres to listen, but I disagree. I do think the Cubs would have to get a third team involved. I mean a San Diego/Cubs/Rangers trifecta would make so much sense for all parties.
  19. I still maintain Tabata will become a very useful player in the majors. And while you MAY NOT like him, I do. And when he becomes a solid player, you can get order yourself a steaming plate of crow to eat. As for a bet, no thank you. And if I was a betting man, I would take you up on that bet. Even on a down yr for Lee, he still put up a .823 OPS this yr, and I doubt he would be that bad that quickly. As for Nick Johnson, I actually agree with you. I've always loved his ability to play, like Carlos Pena, but like you said, he is always injury which means you would have to handle Johnson with kid gloves.
  20. Even if you say it like "Jacobs type" player you are still talking about a crappy player. Besides the Cubs already have a similar player in the org by the name of Micah Hoffpauir. Now there are two players I wouldn't mind going after: Conor Jackson. and Chad Tracy. I know Tracy is like 2 yrs removed from his last good offensive yr, but I think either he or Jackson getting out of Arizona and back into a regular 500 atbats regular PT I think both players can be productive. I would to take a shot at either Jackson or Tracy if they could be had.
  21. You do know that despite the homeruns, Mike Jacobs is a pretty crappy player as evidence of his career .262/.318/.498. So no thank you on Jacobs.
  22. It doesn't matter. Peavy won't waive his NTC. All together, or just to play for the Yankees? To play for an American League club. Actually, I believe I heard Peavy would be open to piitching for the Los Angeles Angels, but I believe LAA would be the only AL team he'd be interested in waiving his NTC for.
  23. Plz TB don't pull a Cub. Put those arrogant pricks down like ole yeller.
  24. Understandble. Besides I don't want a fellow Alabamian playing for you guys.....No offense. Cain's from Alabama too. #-o  (Sorry ElCaballo, you can't have Cain, just try and re-sign CC, or sign Lowe and we'll be cool 8-) ) Fine I see your Cain, and raise you a Rasmus and a Dave Veres..............wait a minute, can you forget I said Dave Veres............ To be fair tho, Cain did graduated from a HS in Tennessee, tho. (Not cool, Matt, not cool) :)
