  1. Even if David Ross had to catch all 162 games, our offense would still probably be the one of the best in the majors. I don't care about David Ross having to fill in in the event of an injury when the other 7 hitters in the lineup are going to put up solid plate appearances.
  2. Is it a conflict of interest for Safelite to be working with us? I figured the Cardinals probably had them on retainer, what with all the broken windshields they have had to deal with. http://i.imgur.com/QONVIyz.gif
  3. My my those comments on that Youtube video. If you get past the racial slurs, the comment that stood out to me was, "he's not even a good hitter. I'll take my chances with Piscotty". I particularly liked the guy who said "I still can't see how a guy that big and strong couldn't have more than 60 RBI's" and the guy who followed it up with "Clutch can't be improved by lifting weights. See Joe Montana. Heyward was a palm to the face most of the season, and the softest 290 in history." Followed swiftly by a racist comment.
  4. My my those comments on that Youtube video. I can't wait for him to torture the Cardinals.
  5. He didn't even try anything new and improved... I suppose there's always Japan, unless they refuse to take players like him.
  6. Comcast has had a data cap on us for years, but they just recently offered an "unlimited data" option for an extra $30-$35 a month. It's tempting, but I also wonder how quickly they'll throttle our speeds if we start using it too much. I would not put it past them to do that in a heartbeat.
  7. Well now it's been so long I'm questioning my own knowledge. Didn't they have a salary cap back in the 90's? I'm losing it. Either way, point still stands.
  8. $120mm was admittedly low on my part as I was quickly typing that out, but to think they'll be breezing past the luxury tax from here on out it's probably a safe bet they won't. They've got nearly $80 million in guaranteed money coming off the books next season. Their rotation next season will consist of Tanaka, Severino, Pineda, Nova, and Eovaldi. They could add another big FA arm, but they don't need to go crazy like they've been known to. They've been relatively quiet over the last couple of years, and are setting themselves up nicely to make big FA runs in the future, but I can't see them going balls out on multiple FA's over the next couple of years. Maybe attempting to get one big name or a few mid tier guys, but it feels like they're content with going into the next few years with what they have and supplementing it with solid, but not expensive talent in the interim before Harper hits the market. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to see a few $150-$170 million Yankee payrolls over the next couple of years instead of the $200 million payrolls they've been having for the last decade or so, which is more or less because of the big contracts doled out to aging talent which they are probably going to shy away from from here on out considering it hasn't exactly worked out so great for them while perennial cellar dwellers like the Jays and Orioles are surpassing them with substantially cheaper payrolls by acquiring underrated and undervalued talent vs. obvious big ticket guys. I don't think it'll stop the Yankees from spending big on certain free agents, but I think they'll stop "paying for past performance" as Theo likes to put it which has pretty much been their M.O. since the cap was lifted. Either way, the Yankees are going to have a lot of money to play with and if they choose to go all in on some guys they'll be tough to beat and can probably outbid anyone as a result without having to worry about the luxury tax.
  9. Brett out out an article recently pointing out how the Yankees have been playing the FA game down a lot because it's possible that they are likely building up to make a massive offer for Harper when he's available. Sabathia, Teixeira, A-Rod, McCann, Gardner, Headley, and Miller's salaries will be off the books by then. They currently only have $57mm committed for 2019. Assuming that, between now and 2019, those that leave before 2019 will be replaced with more cost effective or in house options, they'll have plenty of scratch to outbid anyone for Harper's services. They'll be tough to beat if Harper is a target for the Cubs even if they didn't have a lot of wiggle room. If they keep this trend up and keep their salary around $120mm for those years leading up to his FA year, they'll be particularly hard to beat in FA.
  10. Don't be so hard on yourself, Jon, I'm sure plenty of ladies think you're a QT.
  11. Hey Tim, it's your cousin Joe. What's good, fam?
  12. I said it before, and this is just unfounded optimism, but I like to think that Jake's arm has always been suited to sustain high innings, he just never reached them because he sucked really bad in Baltimore and never got the chance. If you think about it, very few pitchers who reach 200 innings are truly awful pitchers. I'm sure there are tons of pitchers capable of throwing 200+ innings who never will because they're sporting ERA's above 4.00 and get pulled before the 6th inning because they're not not good enough to leave in the game long enough to rack up innings. I'm maintaining the mindset that he's another Kershaw or Felix or Price. An elite pitcher who can throw tons of innings and whose arm stays rock solid and healthy pretty much all the time. Get on the optimism train!
  13. Is there a link for this article that I desperately want to read?
  14. Big deal for me. I'm a night owl and when i do work I usually cant check the forum until after midnight. During these slow offseason months its OK but it was torture during the season and key offseason dates. Whatever you did to fix that, thank you!
  15. Damn, she's beating my killer Jon Heyman joke in the Cespedes thread by two. Edit: I automatically assume everyone on here has a weiner.
  16. If he's the 6-win catcher he was in 2014, I think I'd be okay with it. FG's "Dollars" metric listed his 2014 at $46.7 million. Even his 3.5 win seasons were valued at ~$25 million. For Montero, money, and 3 prospects who are either not locks to be major leaguers or in our future plans? I'd consider it. I just never expected a Lucroy move to include sending Montero and money to the Brewers. I figured that'd need to be a separate deal in and of itself, unless a 3rd team were involved. Edit: Glossed over the "and others". Obviously depending on who the others are would change the tune a bit.
  17. (NSFW Language)
  18. I also like to think Arrieta will be fine because he's always been physically capable of handling 225+ innings, he just really sucked before 2014 so he never got the chance.
  19. Ha! Forgot about that. NVR4GET http://m.mlb.com/video/?content_id=466885983&topic_id=6479266
  20. That should be what people's username's get changed to when they cause too much of a ruckus.
  21. #Hugetits I'll never not laugh at this
  22. Damn, how much did Jon Heyman make in a single season?
  23. Seriously though what are the max dimensions you can have on the header logo, I'll make something.
