  3. It just makes me happy that Harvey being brought out for the 9th started their collapse and it happened because 1) Matt Harvey demanded it 2) Terry Collins caved into his demand, despite knowing he probably shouldn't have done it 3) And all the Mets fans wanted him to come back out, and made it verbally clear, which may have also contributed to Collins' decision to leave him in I hope all those Mets fans who were clamoring for Harvey feel like stupid dumbass baseball fans
  4. Sori looks jacked
  5. I wonder how he's gonna react when he finds out the team withheld that information from him.
  6. Is everyone mortified of Dylan Bundy at this point?
  7. I have continually drafted him in fantasy hoping that the team would come to its senses that year and convert him to starter. If we were getting him long-term, I'd absolutely be for giving it a shot. But I'm not going to convert him, limit his innings appropriately and then have him walk as a free agent. Why would you be worried about the Cubs letting him walk? This is Chicago, not Tampa or Oakland. You pay the man. If anything you're lined up for a coup because people would then be whining that he only has one year SP experience and you need more for a Price/Kershaw contract. If Chapman converts to a starter next year and is successful we might as well get used to him wearing a Dodgers uniform.
  8. I'm talking about the actual fielding part. He's never looked comfortable and you can't suggest he looks like god's gift to baseball when he can't field. He's had a couple short stretches of tremendous production at the plate, but he's always looked like a fielding liability. Alfonso Soriano 2.0
  9. Because we need/want a starter more than a reliever and we're spitballing ideas? Just a thought.
  10. Guilty. I don't even know what a Derrek Lee is. Is that some sort of new style of denim the kids wear?
  11. He was under arbitration before the Nats, which was a one year contract. Then he signed with the Cubs.

  13. what I assume she's talking about Lester. Not sure what the Ross bit is referencing what Ernie Banks, not that a jersey number will be a big deterrent in a 9 figure contract. what ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  14. I'm not against acquiring already established top tier pitching talent ala David Price, but just because young pitching prospects worked out for the Mets this year, doesn't mean it will work out every year. Yes it would be great to have those arms, but it requires a lot of luck to have every single one of them working at full efficiency at the same time upon their first taste of major league action, let alone having them all healthy at once. If you had to bet money on one of their young arms going down with TJS vs. one of our hitters smacking 40 dongs in a single season, that could easily be a 50/50 odds type of bet.
  15. It'll be ok. Much like Schwarber, he is very new to the outfield...
  16. I thought it was foregone conclusion Ross was gonna retire after next season. Especially since they reached the NLCS and given the Cubs' chances at being a juggernaut next season, I don't see why he would want to retire before his last year of the contract.
  17. Oh God, now people are gonna say we're cursed by Back to the Future. Ugh.
  18. I think one of my favorite funny/unfunny jokes from a Cubs message board was from the ESPN boards when some guy refused to call Glendon Rusch by his name and only called him Chet Stedman. It was oddly appropriate at the time.
  19. Win or lose, entering this season I expected the Cubs to be playoff contenders, but maybe not World Series caliber. The fact that they have made it this far in the playoffs surpassed my expectations. I knew they would be good, but not THIS good. Next season, whether they go into it with or without a World Series championship to their credit, they will be an improved team. A team that will be better off to start the season than the 97 win team they were this year. That excites me, and it should terrify the rest of the league.

  21. If the roles were reversed the mets would be crying bloody murder if they allowed that run to count
