  2. I know this will be a bad take, but Bauer has grown on me. I've watched several of his videos on his Youtube channel, particularly the roundtable discussions with other athletes and while he may be a horse's ass, he's one who is incredibly passionate and educated about the sport of baseball and the analytical side of things to an alarming extent. He may be obnoxious, but he's also really smart about the sport. That said, he complained about pitchers, mamely Gerrit Cole, using foreign substances in 2019 to increase spin rate and MLB did nothing about and he kinda straight up said he was gonna do the same and he'd be the best pitcher in baseball. Low and behold. Because of this, I want no part in Bauer as it's pretty obvious he's using a foreign substance to elevate his game. If that substance becomes unavailable he's not Cy Young caliber anymore and that's obviously not worth the gamble.
  3. You know when we saw rumors that SD was shopping for a catcher with Darvish I assumed that meant Contreras and the Cubs were gonna pick their pockets for elite talent. Instead they got Caratini and from there I thought "Oh wow, the Cubs are going to commit to Contreras behind the plate" But no, let's get rid of both of our catchers. Are they seriously gonna ride with Amaya behind the plate?
  4. he's a nancy boy soft tosser and he's not kyle hendricks what's there not to get His numbers are goodish so :dontknow: You could argue he's a Hendricks type who uses contact and accuracy to his advantage, but in reality, he had a hot first half of 2019, then reverted back to the backend starter he's been, then got traded to the greatest pitchers park in baseball and put up career-best numbers over 12 starts. His positive results are suspect and hard to take seriously due to the sample size of this season. It's hard to tell which pitcher he truly is, but he doesn't throw hard at all and he's not like Hendricks who doesn't walk a lot of batters. Davie's 2020 BB/9 would've been bottom 40 in MLB for worst in 2019. And his BB/9 the two years before that was even worse. He also doesn't typically go deep into ballgames. He's just Bizarro-Hendricks. If you squint you might say they look the same, but they're really not.
  5. I feel like some of these guys being in or near our Top 10 is less of a qualifier for acquiring these prospects and more of an indictment on our system's depth. There's no reason you don't get a top 5 org prospect plus more for that haul.
  6. With the way things are going they're probably about to trade Cronenworth for Shane Bieber and cash.
  7. Remember when Hendry labeled Sam Fuld untouchable because he made a nice catch? That was funny.
  8. I feel like we've been spoiled with so many phenoms coming up through the ranks in their early 20's or as teenagers that many people have forgotten that most players don't really hit their prime until 27-32.
  9. Replace house with team and this is how I feel right now about the Cubs
  10. pls respond I did respond saying I'd be interested. This was before Len left, though. I hate what this team has become. I hate that I spent my whole life wanting to be a season ticket holder and now that I live within walking distance to Wrigley and have the opportunity the team is owned by a bunch of fascists dickheads that make me question my loyalty.
  11. Got a notification I could get tickets this upcoming season if people pass and had to fill out a survey saying if I would be interested or not if my number came up
  12. Loved the touch of them showing the Cubs with Obama but not Trump. Loved the touch of not acknowledging Addison Russell's existence in their acquisition timeline
  13. Honestly, the rebuilding years were probably the most invested I had ever been in the Cubs in my whole life. Theo had a lot to do with that, but if they blow it up and pull in some big prospects/youngsters I actually think I might be more interested than I have been the last couple of years.
  14. Nailed it-ish... PTR is just gonna promote the leftovers up a spot so he only has to hire a low level scout.
  15. Because it's the Marlins, I hate how much I admire this move. Good on them.
  16. This is gonna get ugly! [tweet] [/tweet]
  17. It's so much worse now. He was asked to leave and isolate and he refused and when they won he went back on the field and celebrated with the team maskless. Out there, COVID positive, maskless, giving people hugs and horsefeathers. Unbelievable. The whole team likely needs to be/should be forced to quarantine now.
  18. PTR is just gonna promote the leftovers up a spot so he only has to hire a low level scout.
  19. Nothing would bring me more joy than to see Andrew Friedman fail against the team left. I want him to fail, and fail harshly, year after year. If he can't even win in a shortened fucked up season with this juggernaut of a team that's so got fresh arms in the rotation it would just be... *Chefs kiss*
  20. Do we really think that if they clear up that payroll that they're going to actually spend the money that they saved?
