    Even in 2006 in the minors through 56 games he had a down year batting .250 with a .307 OBP, he still managed to put up a .903 OPS. That's pretty impressive.

Drama queen. 2003 was an amazing year for Prior, but you know what, 2003 was one of the hardest years of my Cub fandom, so I could care less if he had an amazing regular season, cause ultimately it didn't mean squat in the end because the team blew it.     Well, Luke Scott I think most everyone knows about. Big power potential, but apparently not in the Astros plans for the future despite hitting 18 homers in 350 or so AB with a .351 OBP. Matt Albers is bleh. 24 years old, went 4-11 last year for the Stros, has a minor league career record of 25-25 with a 3.62ERA and 1.36WHIP. Not that good. Troy Patton is decent it seems. 3.01 minor league ERA and 1.18 WHIP. And he's young, only 21/22 years old this coming year Dennis Sarfate is a 26 year old pitcherwith a minor league losing record (31-33) and an ERA/WHIP worse than Albers (3.67/1.47) Michael Costanzo appears to be a 3-Truths hitter. Last year in the minors (PHI system) at age 23 put up respectable line of .270/.368/.490 with 27HR 86RBI and 75BB with 157K's That's just stats though and my general opinion of them. Don't know much about them from a scouting angle. Seems like we could've matched/topped this offer easily

    I thought for sure they did one a few years back. When Mike Morgan threw the first pitch of the game with the old time windup. Was that a road game? Holy crap I totally forgot about that. I think that was a road game though. I remember when that happened, it was awesome

    1) Tender him a contract 2) Wait till he comes back to pitch 3) Let him pitch well to build his value up and help the team 4) Toward the end of the season, give him the Baker treatment and overpitch him to the point of massive injury 5) Make him get injured again 6) Release into the open waters of free agency! Thanks for the help! Seeya on the mound in two years! j/k of course. At this point I could care less what happens. My personal preference is try and keep him around for one more year to see if he performs well for at least a month or so, and use that as trade bait, but that doesn't appear to be happening. Oh well

    They don't have new ones, but FWIW their 2008 projections in the 5-year forecast are as follows... If I'm understanding you correctly, that would not have '07s #s factored in? Yeah, this is based off of 06's numbers. These were the projections made prior to the 2007 season

    okay not exactly but close enough Yeah, except that the idea of the Socratic method is to make the person your teaching feel like they're smarter than you and they're actually doing the teaching. What you're doing seems to come off as a pompus ass who is condecending to everyone else. That's not even close to the Socratic method.     I'd love to see the Reds trade away their future to get Bedard pitching on Dusty's team. Bedard is good, but he's not as good as people think he is. And he's worse in that ballpark. And he's even more likely to become injured pitching with Dusty as his manager. In the long run, this would be a remarkable trade for the NL Central. in the short run, it really doesn't matter, because one pitcher isn't going to make the Reds invincible like some people seem to think it will

    Interesting first post. You blast a reporter for not revealing his sources and for implying there is no way Cubs fans could actually be requesting Fukudome jerseys because he doesn't have an official number yet. Yes, interesting. I don't know if I've ever read an article where a journalist questions several NL executives about the same topic where their names were revealed. I am kind of leaning towards some writers making the crap up, though. Some of the quotes these guys get about certain topics seem to funny or wise-allecky to come from a GM

    I'd do it, but only if DeRosa is completely out of the starting lineup plans next year. If DeRosa still has the opportunity to start somewhere I don't really wanna trade him

    I already tried to argue with Meph on a Greene acquisition, he wins. While I still think we could get him without trading Pie and I think Pie is too much for Greene, Greene is, hands down, much better than he appears to be, and Meph has convinced me of such things. Also, he doesn't make a lot of errors, that much is obvious, surprised you would bring that up. Greene is GG caliber at SS. He only made 11 errors at SS last year, he's one of the top defensive SS in the league

    No way. That would be too good to be true. If it were true he'd be 33 or 34 at the end of his contract. This is the Cubs, nothing good like that ever happens to our team.

    Erik Bedard's health issues suck. The fact that he was so good this year will net him a king's ransom, but something a lot of people seem to be ignoring is the fact that Bedard has only pitched one full season and still has some health issues. I'd be wary to give up someone who could pan out to be valuable considering Bedard has, if I'm not mistaken, had troubles with his health ever since he's been in the league.

    Whatever power potential Fukudome had in MLB will be obsolete playing for the Padres. If he plays there his production probably wouldn't be worth his end contract, IMO. That park will eat him up
