  1. I take it that if LaPorta is ready to go next year, they decline the option on Cameron and go with a Braun, Hart, LaPorta outfield? That's kinda scary
  2. That would make me a sad panda, and at the same time feels like an eerily accurate prediction of Cubs management thinking
  3. It'll get the press telling everyone that "most feared hitter" is a meaningless phrase used to hype up Ron Santo, but that Jim Rice actually was the most feared hitter of a generation.
  4. How would Peralta become available? He's a SS. Roberts is a 2B. I would assume they'd keep him and have a top notch middle infield
  5. I like how some people's thoughts in the press are "Wrigley is getting a free ride" and what not, but I never ever associate Wrigley's Gum with Wrigley Field. To me they're entirely different entities. I don't buy Wrigley products because of Wrigley Field. That being said, I hope Wrigley buys the rights. I don't want the name to change. Besides even if it does there would probably be more of a backlash against whatever company puts their name on it.
  6. Considering it was an informal interview, it wasn't that big of a deal, I was just making note that ESPN MVP considers anything Roger Clemens does important enough to send ESPN Alerts on my cell phone but nobody else is worth a damn
  7. I'm surprised no one is commenting on this. Apparently this is big enough news for ESPN MVP to send me an update alert on my cell phone in the middle an informal job interview. Jackarses
  8. I thought we got a lump of coal and a lump of coal. Well imagine what the Cubs will get if they trade for the Dreaded Pirate Roberts. I'm sure he won't be the original Roberts though. http://joeindie.com/blog/images/tj200703181935-1.jpg I always called him The Dread Brian Roberts amongst friends and said it in the worst Andre The Giant accent I could, so seeing this makes me take comfort in knowing I'm not totally insane for thinking of this when I hear his name
  9. I just got done working the GMAC Bowl for ESPN tonight as a PA/Utility worker. Tulsa stomped Bowling Green, and had one of the biggest hits I've seen in football all year long. Oh, and I was talking to some of the regulars on the crew and asked if they worked for ESPN baseball, anbd one of them said yes, so I asked if they worked with Joe Morgan and one guy said he had, so I asked "if he was as dumb in person as he was on TV, because I'm not a fan". He laughed and said "Yeah, you're not the only one". Thought that was funny and I'd pass it on.
  10. Now he and Jose Reyes can have footraces every day!
  11. I want Ian Snell probably more than any other pitcher out there.
  12. They're gonna send him over with Roberts so we have someone to start over Pie because Roberson has panache, something Pie lacks severely and is clearly the key element in a great baseball player's makeup
  13. Indeed. Fantasy Baseball is what sucked me back into the sport. I owe my life to it, but not really. But seriously I do
  14. Still Harry for me. As a kid, I didn't really know much about baseball, I just knew I loved the Cubs and I loved watching the Cubs and part of that was because of Harry Caray. I remember playing Ken Griffey, Jr. baseball on SNES and during the game I'd add my own Harry Caray commentary over the action of the game. Harry wins for me
  15. I voted for him. You just can't justify some of the moves he did with the amount of money involved. Then when I realized I could make extra votes, I voted for Ed Wade. He's a bumbling idiot
  16. We're not getting enough back for losing the heart of our ball club
  17. Then wouldn't a Murton, Cedeno, and Gallagher proposal be equal, if not better than that? Even then I don't even know if I do it. I just don't think Bedard will stay healthy enough to be worth the loss of young promising players. Hart > Murton Parra > Gallagher Cedeno > A ball SS Yeah, guess I didn't realize at the time of posting that you can't bank on what Murton could do compared to what Hart has already done.
