  1. Well I think it's safe to say that no one is bowing down to Piniella on his man love for Theriot on this board. It's pretty evident most people here don't want Theriot to start at short. As far as insiders, journalists, etc? No clue
  2. No - this isn't the same league that you quote above. I commish'd that one. Ahhhh, then I guess there were two NSBB leagues last year that was won by a Cardinals fan. WTF
  3. That was hilarious.
  4. Can someone make "All-Around Awesome" into a metric? That'd be dynamite
  5. Is Matt Kemp slated to start over Andre Ethier for good? Thanks for the post and nice draft by the way, that was a good read.
  6. So...... what about that other trade that's gonna rock, Hendry? Where's that at?
  7. And sweet, sweet revenge for 2003
  8. If batting Corey Patterson or Neifi Perez at the top of the order is wrong, then I don't want to be right Oh, and frostwyrm, your avatar gives me nightmares
  9. My created player in MVP 05 had an injury to his leg and he still stole 178 bases, so leg problems shouldn't be the issue here
  10. Any idea when that draft time will be? I'm gonna be in Mexico for my cousin's wedding from the 21st-27th at some luxurious resort (probably a donkey show bar knowing my cousin). I'm sure they have internet there so I could do the draft. At least I hope they do, if they don't and we decide to do it within the next week and a half I'm screwed, but I was just curious if we were planning on doing this as soon as it fills up or if we were gonna wait for a little while after spring training started?
  11. same can be said for the NLDS vs. the Braves, and they Braves have fans all over the south Ironically most of them live in Florida
  12. Florida has never been one to have enduring support for their pro sports teams through thick and thin (except for maybe the Dolphins). It's a fairweather state, and while the attendance will go up when they get the new stadium, if they aren't any good, eventually no one will go. That's how it's been for the past 20 years for most of the pro sports teams in Florida, and likely how it will always be. Most people just don't care unless they win. And in the Marlins case, a lot of the times they don't even care if they are winning... 2003 Attendance Figures TEAM GAMES TOTAL AVERAGE % CAPACITY 2002 2002 AV. 2003 VS. 2002 NY Yankees 81 3,465,600 42,785 78 3,465,807 43,323 -1.24% Seattle 81 3,268,509 40,351 85 3,539,938 43,703 -7.67% San Francisco 81 3,264,898 40,307 97 3,253,203 40,163 0.36% Los Angeles 81 3,138,626 38,748 69 3,131,255 38,657 0.24% Anaheim 81 3,061,094 37,791 84 2,305,467 28,463 32.77% Chicago Cubs 80 2,962,630 37,032 94 2,694,946 33,271 11.30% St. Louis 81 2,910,386 35,930 71 3,011,766 37,182 -3.37% Arizona 81 2,805,542 34,636 71 3,198,975 39,494 -12.30% Boston 81 2,724,165 33,631 100 2,650,859 32,727 2.76% Atlanta 79 2,401,084 30,393 61 2,568,144 32,102 -5.32% Baltimore 81 2,454,523 30,302 63 2,655,559 32,785 -7.57% Houston 81 2,454,241 30,299 74 2,512,357 31,017 -2.31% Cincinnati 81 2,355,259 29,077 69 1,855,775 22,911 26.91% Philadelphia 78 2,259,948 28,973 47 1,618,467 20,231 43.21% Colorado 81 2,334,085 28,815 57 2,740,614 33,835 -14.84% NY Mets 76 2,140,599 28,165 49 2,804,838 34,628 -18.66% Oakland 81 2,216,596 27,365 63 2,169,816 26,788 2.15% Texas 81 2,094,394 25,856 53 2,352,397 29,042 -10.97% San Diego 81 2,030,084 25,062 39 2,221,230 27,423 -8.61% Minnesota 81 1,946,011 24,024 49 1,924,345 23,757 1.12% Chicago White Sox 81 1,939,524 23,944 54 1,675,591 20,686 15.75% Kansas City 78 1,779,895 22,819 56 1,323,036 16,334 39.70% Toronto 81 1,799,458 22,215 44 1,638,170 20,224 9.84% Cleveland 81 1,730,002 21,358 49 2,621,940 32,370 -34.02% Milwaukee 81 1,700,354 20,992 50 1,969,153 24,311 -13.65% Pittsburgh 78 1,636,751 20,983 55 1,784,970 22,312 -5.96% Detroit 80 1,368,245 17,103 43 1,503,353 18,792 -8.99% Florida 80 1,303,215 16,290 45 813,127 10,039 62.27% <--------- 3rd to last Tampa Bay 81 1,058,695 13,070 29 1,065,742 13,157 -0.66% Montreal 81 1,025,639 12,662 32 812,536 10,031 26.23% Your 2003 World Champion Florida Marlins! 13. The site has gotten better, apparently. But you must have missed when it first went up. He'd post ridiculous crap just to get hits. No, I remember back when it started a few years back. It was trash. But now most of it is just tidbits he posts from writers across the country. I think it's funny that when a credible rumor is posted there from one of his sources, people will post it up around the net on various boards as a legit rumor, but when it's a rumor that seems a little too weird or random it's never "This must be a completely false rumor, must've gotten bad information" it's always "Why does anyone visit this site, it's the worst site ever, this guy is an idiot" I find that humorous. That being said, I think we all knew this trade rumor was crap, probably even him (he is a Cubs fan, after all)
  14. I got it. "CostCo Fukudome"... that's-a me
  15. I know that site gets put down a lot, but it's not like he's stating facts on there. It's got the word "Rumors" right in the title of the page, and most of the time everything posted comes from various sources or news articles, and a lot of the sources are beat writers in a lot of baseball cities. What is done on there is no different than from what we do on here, so...... yeah. I don't understand the relentless bashing of that site when it's no different from this transactions forum. [/soapbox]
  16. I am in. http://archive.fantasysports.yahoo.com/mlb/2007/11100 - is this the league from last year? If so, I was in there, I want back in, por favor. I came in 2nd, and I was not to happy about losing to a Cardinals fan EDIT: Just sent you a PM
  17. Where is the part that makes Paul Sullivan an idiot? Or were you just speaking in general? ---Yeah you and Cubbie Chris, are right. I just don't like Sullivan's style of writing. Why does he have to be so critical of the players all the time? Because he was the guy that was picked last. He was the kid with glasses who we all wailed on in dodgeball because he was an easy target
  18. not so fast, my friend you'd be surprised how incorrect that statement is You're right, I live in Alabama I should know the percentages. I guess what I meant to say was "Chickens are hardly considered a household pet."
  19. Chickens are bred to die one way or the other. Cockfighting is a national past time in these ballplayers' home countries. It's not like he was conducting illegal cockfights in the clubhouse shower after day games. Nobody keeps a chicken as a pet. They are bred for one main purpose only: food. They're gonna get their heads cut off one way or the other. Case closed
  20. Manny's career numbers are absurd. I'd definitely throw him in the conversation
  21. How is Fantasy Baseball on CBS? Never played it there before. Is it much different than Yahoo?
  22. Not gonna predict the NL, but I will make this bold prediction that I'm almost positive won't happen, but if it does it will make me feel smart for saying it... The Marlins will be a sleeper for the Wild Card. No need to prove me otherwise, I know they're bad. I'm just saying... I got a weird feeling. It could be the baseball man crush I have on Hanley Ramirez, it could be the fact that I've been awake for almost 22 hours now and delirium is starting to set in, but that's my bold prediction
  23. This keeps getting better and better. I love it
  24. Steve has the advantage of not only being an innings eater, but also a stress magnifier and a grey hair producer. He also does a spot on Droopy impersonation
  25. If it wasn't for Steve Trachsel we never would've made the playoffs......
