  1. Just in case anyone was wondering, Aramis Ramirez has hit 5 home runs this year on fastballs greater than 88mph. This thing is gnarly
  2. That is an amazingly awesome photo
  3. Talk about a poor team showing... 4 home runs, all solo shots? That should be at least a 7 RBI game. I always liked him off the bench. I hope they call him up again
  4. The RZA, the ZIJA, Ol Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghost Face Killer and the Method Man. That might be too long though
  5. Maybe he decided to spend some backbreaking hours making his signature Affliction t-shirt instead of child laborers. Yeah, I went there.
  6. His back hurts because he's been carrying the bullpen's weight all year. Not really. I just like using that phrase regarding certain topics
  7. OK, then nobody who has ever broken the law can get into the HOF. Whoops. In your face, Tony LaRussa
  8. They should have different sets of rules for relievers. That's unfair for Pedro. Guy had a ridiculous ERA+ often pitching 7+ innings a game, and probably qualified a few years after he started his career. Mariano did it pitching 1-2 innings a game and qualified at the end of his career. ASTERISK!
  9. So what you and Jericho are saying is you want Bob Howry and Jason Marquis to make a sex tape and leak it to the internet..........
  10. Glad we DFA'd the right guy
  11. And how it's overhyped nonsense. Long article, good read. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=caple/080805
  12. If he doesn't need to pitch, they shouldn't pitch him. No point in re-aggravating it if there's still some irritation and prolonging his absence
  13. I think in about 5 years or so, 200-250 wins is going to become the new 300 as far as wins are concerned for HOF acceptance. There's talk that unless Mike Mussina reaches 300, that no one will ever reach 300 wins again. I think that may be a stretch, but it's feasible. That's probably the first thing they'll look at is win total, then strikeouts, then ERA. The first few years are going to be tough on pitchers who were really good but didn't have the wins or the awards, and I think after they realize that there's really not gonna be another 300 win 3000 K pitcher, they're going to ease up on the typical pitcher requirements. By the time Z is done, this may be one of the key reasons why he would be easily accepted. But that's just how I see it
  14. They should've never cut Livan Hernandez. This is good news for me and all my fantasy teams who picked him up 2 weeks ago
  15. Quick question, since I don't know much about compensation picks. Say Edmonds winds up with 20+HR and 70+ RBI, we obviously let him walk, but we offer arbitration. If he leaves, do we get draft picks back? And if so, why type of FA would Edmonds be if he put up numbers like that? Or would it not matter?
  16. But he's 10-8!!!!!! Don't you want the guy who can win on your team rather than the guy who doesn't?!?!?!?!!?!1
  17. Well Liriano's been healthy all year, he just had command issues, and he's been damn near untouchable in the minors his last 10 starts or so, but the Twins refuse to call him up for some reason.
  18. If he keeps up this production the rest of the way, homeboy gonna get paid.
  19. Tough call. Upton is going to be really good one day, so it'd be great to have him on your team, and Young is a total crap out this year so who knows what he'll do next year. But Hamilton is still relatively young and will play out of his mind while he's at Texas. If you could, it'd be nice to see if you could watch Liriano make a start or two in the MLB first. If Liriano is back to being Liriano I say do it, but we can't know for sure yet until they start him, and I'm assuming you have a trade deadline in your league. He probably won't make a start before then. Tough call, if Liriano is awesome again a Liriano for Hamilton swap seems like a wash, and Young for Upton swap I would think favors Upton. But since Liriano hasn't been given the chance to prove himself (again) at the MLB level, I would say hold off for right now and maybe look for other teams who need Hamilton
  20. So what you're trying too say is he's one of the most feared pitchers in the game... I think I read you loud and clear
  21. If he's set on returning to the Cubs and willing to give a hometown discount I don't think that would be much of a factor. Eh. If I'm him, I just can't let myself give a discount. This is his one chance to REALLY cash in. And he deserves it. He could give a discount and still be a very rich man. Getting top dollar isn't everything. Or he doesn't give a discount and we let him walk and take what I would assume would be pretty good draft picks (did I get that right? don't know much about Free Agent Types)
  22. Dusty's daughter needs to ditch the zero and get with the hero
  23. No, he is. He got Carlos Gomez and peanuts for Johan Santana, and Gomez isn't even that good. I'd be surprised if Gomez ever became a >.800 OPS guy, although he does have great defense and pretty good speed. (But he's not that good of a basestealer) Imagine how good the Twins would be with both Liriano and Santana? They'd probably lead the Central by 8 games. The thing is, before they traded him they did have that going for the in 2008, and he chose to trade him anyways. And for next to nothing at that. If anything hang on to him and trade him at the deadline for a desperate team willing to give up their top players in the midst of a pennant race. Imagine what Santana would go for right now?
