  1. How long has this "ongoing rebuiding effort" been going on? Since they got rid of Bonds
  2. It's like a Who's Who of managers. I bet a majority of these guys picked people like Piniella and the such because they probably don't know who the hell is managing the Nats or the A's.
  3. Guzman hits for a great average but that's about all he's truly great for. He's getting paid way too much for a batting average. If we're targeting anyone on the Nats for this season it should be Dunn. If we can unload Bradley somehow to make room for him, we'd need to jump on that as fast as possible. He's only signed through next season so he's not a big commitment to the Nats and he could bring back some solid talent for them. They'd be wise to shop him around.
  4. I wouldn't call trading Nyjer Morgan and Eric Hinske the makings of a fire sale. Nyjer Morgan for Milledge? Really? Is that all it takes? Has Milledge gotten THAT bad? He's OPSing .594 in AAA for the Nationals so far this year. Barf.

  6. Ha wow, that was only 2 sections over... no I didn't notice that - hope you're OK. Oh yeah I'm doing OK, I'm a gamer. You wanna play 2nd base for the Cubs?
  7. Well, first off I'm not sure the Mets would consider moving Feliciano since their bullpen was their biggest enemy last year and Feliciano is one of 2 Mets relievers with an ERA under 4 this year. Aside from that, yeah I'd probably do it, but only near the trade deadline when we have a better idea of whether or not we'll be able to contend for the division/wild card. If it's not conceivable, then yeah I'd do it and then take the money saved and put it towards one of the OF FA's next year (Holliday? Figgins?) or let Fox play there assuming he's not a complete fluke and will be adequate enough out there as an offensive and defensive player and put the saved money toward pitching since Harden will likely be leaving. Yeah, I'd do it, if certain circumstances were to fall in place.
  8. 1) No. A-Rod did not get penalized. It was an anonymous test with no repercussions. It was a test to see if it was rampant enough to warrant routine testing. 2) If it had even a shred of credibility behind it, it would've been picked up on the news outlets by now, and to this point, it's on absolutely none of them except for this amateur looking hack of a website that doesn't even give any information, just "Rumored list?" and then gives the names of the players. No commentary on it whatsoever. It's some douche trying to get his site more hits. And it's working
  9. The Pierre trade, by a huge margin. Totally. I mean you only have to pay for Ping golf clubs once. Getting access to every Ohio golf course at any time is a pretty sweet deal considering you never have to pay. Green fees can get expensive
  10. Ryan Braun must've turned him on to Affliction clothing. Those clothes increase your confidence and d-bagitude by 110%
  11. Wow, Ozzie Guillen was definitely right. That's just embarrassing. He's so shocked that people actually agreed with him he felt the urge to revisit the idea and shove it down our throats again. Nice. 11,000 people is a very good consensus in regards to the millions upon millions of fans the Cubs have in regards to this topic. And even of those 11,000 only about 6,000 actually said they should. I think we should trust those 6,000 or so people and do what's best for Phil Ro... I mean The Cubs. I didn't read the number of voters. I just assumed more people voted. Phil RTogers menbtioned it in the beginning of the article, as if it were some substantial number we should all be impressed by. "11,000 people voted on my poll!!!! I'm the greatest!" Phil Rogers is such a douche

  13. DeRo is overhyped because he was one of the few players on the Cubs who understood the importance of the team to its fans. And he understood that being on the Cubs had a much more special meaning than being on a team like, say, the Mariners. Combine that with above average play, great versatility, a care-free sense of humor, and taking accountability for himself and his actions when he played poorly... I mean he was just a class act. I think that plays into his hype much more than his ability.
  14. Are you implying that all of Jim Hendy's trades were good? This is the "Jim Hendry's Best Trades" thread and you listed virtually every single trade he's ever done. Not gonna lie, I chuckled at the first joke about the Marlins Championship ring... then I realized this isn't a meaningful thread so much as it is a vehicle to promote your clichéd sense of humor
  15. Not sure if it's been posted, but this was a funny bit on Tosh.0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07Trx45VBtI Terrel Owens Apologizes "I'd like to apologize for the Joe Buck show.... someone needs to apologize for that show"
  16. A little off topic, I haven't been able to watch any of the games lately, how does Fox look at 3B? Is he as big of a joke as everyone expected him to be?
  17. Hey everyone! Geovany Soto is fat! DUUURRRRR
  18. StumbledUpon a new article with some quotes I haven't seen before... - Earl Weaver, after one of his born-again Christian players asked if the Baltimore manager wanted to walk with God: "I'd rather walk with the bases loaded." - Pittsburgh outfielder Steve Kemp: "The only people in the U.S. who had a worse night than me died." - After 10 years, John Watham was released by the Royals. Moments later, he was named a team coach. Asked about his new position: "The game has changed a lot since I played. - Joaquin Andujar, Pluto-circling pitcher: "Baseball can be summed up by one word: `You never know.'" - Yogi Berra, famed malapropist: "This is the earliest I've been late." And, shaking hands with Ernest Hemingway after being introduced to the author: "What paper you write for, Ernie?" - Submarine relief pitcher Dan Quisenberry: "Most pitchers fear losing their fastball, and since I don't have one, the only thing I have to fear is fear itself." - Boston pitcher Bob Stanley, upset over a local newspaper story: "I'm going to cancel my prescription." - Reds pitcher Clay Carroll to teammate Pedro Borbon: "Hey, Pedro, how do you say `adios' in Spanish?" - Jerry Willard, Cleveland catcher, told Minnesota had won a doubleheader: "Who won the first game?" - Chicago coach Don Zimmer when asked, upon regaining consciousness after taking a fall, who was president before Ronald Reagan: "I don't know. I didn't know before I fell either." - Jerry Coleman, voice of the Padres: "Rick Folkers is throwing up in the bullpen." Also from Coleman: "There's a fly ball deep to centre field. Winfield is going back, back. He hits his head against the wall. It's rolling back toward second base. This is a terrible thing for the Padres." - Lefty Gomez, when New York papers called him a holdout because he'd asked the Yankees for more money: "That isn't true. The Yankees are the holdouts. I asked first." - Bobby Cox, after a wind-blown triple with the bases loaded caused the Blue Jays to lose Game 7 in the 1985 American League championship series: "It wasn't experience that beat us. It was the wind. That and the fact that our bats went south on us and we are north.'' - Rocky Bridges, infielder: "I know what the word `media' means. It's plural for `medio-cre.'" - Tug McGraw, queried whether he preferred grass or Astroturf: "I dunno. I never smoked any Astroturf." - And, for the sheer Zen of it, this exchange between a reporter and Cincinnati outfielder Alex Johnson: Reporter: "You hit only two home runs all last year, and already you've hit seven this year. What's the difference?'' Johnson: "Five."
  19. I wonder what Jose Macias is doing http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=41150 Homeboy is raking!!!
  20. Hmm. I was expecting to see Randy Wells on that list. I guess this guy considers wins more important than anything, considering Matt Palmer and his 4.70 ERA was on there. The Palmer selection was due to intangibles, it appears. Wells should be on that list. True. LOL @ This comment: Dude's played 17 games and has been hitless in 9 of them. He has a .172/.273/.276 line good for a .549 OPS. I don't know about you guys, but I think I'm going to write Mr. Crasnick and angry worded letter about his blatant disregard in leaving this stellar 3 week season off the checklist.
  21. He hasn't graduated from HS or received his GED and gone to one year of junior college. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/ask-ba/2009/267859.html He has enrolled in Juco now and will be taking his GED soon. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/?p=1261 Keith Law did an article about it on ESPN as well: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=law_keith&id=4283157
