  1. 5/55 was definitely bandied about at some point. Don't recall any 5/75 talk. I don't ever recall 5/55. Only thing I've ever heard was 5/75. And the sticking point was Samardzija wanted a NTC
  2. This will probably used as a measuring stick for Samardzija's negotiations. He (2.9) and Bailey (3.1) are similarly close in fWAR the past two seasons. That said, what the Cubs have been rumored to have been offering him isn't far off from what Bailey got.
  3. Apparently Jimenez deal is done pending a physical
  4. Rizzo kinda looks like one of those guys who you could tell used to be fat, but then he got his [expletive] together
  5. I wonder if this means the Red Sox go out and snag someone like Jimenez now
  6. Even though I don't necessarily think the Cubs FO cares, the only reason I could see them attempt to rush Soler compared to the others is that they're actually paying him like a major leaguer. That's the only reason I could see the FO needing/wanting to move him through the system quickly, and even then I don't think it'll happen.
  7. Remember that time he hit that lead off inside the park home run on opening day and then stole 3 bases the same day, and you were so upset you couldn't get him in your fantasy league in time, and the guy who picked him up was all like "Haha, too late motherfuckers!!!"
  8. The D-Backs hiked a mountain together. There's a lot of white people grit in this photo
  9. Well crap. I had two NSBB windows open in the browser. Guess I selected the wrong one
  10. Yeah, that seems like a piss poor reason to say he wasn't as good as advertised. It's not like Max Scherzer didn't get the luxury of facing the Astros or the Mariners. The only teams that really lit Jimenez up last year were the Tigers (6.92 ERA in 3 starts), Yankees (14.54 ERA in 1 start), and Red Sox (37.80 ERA in 1 start). The only other team where he had an ERA over 4 was, ironically, against the Marlins (4.50 ERA in 1 start). He dominated the Rangers, Blue Jays, A's, Royals, Orioles, White Sox, Angels, and Reds. Most of those are pretty damn good offenses.
  11. To be fair, I don't even pay attention to football and I know that the Browns and their management are disgrace.
  12. I know. When I saw him for the first time in the majors I thought to myself "I thought this dude was supposed to be fat". I have to assume with that many reports they had to be true, but he obviously busted his ass to get in shape. Kudos to him, but based on the reports it seemed like it was a wise bet to not buy into him since it seemed like he was piggybacking off of Soler's and Cespedes' hype machine
  13. Yeah, I don't recall there being a lot of people impressed with him, which is why when the Dodgers gave him the money they did everyone laughed and laughed, myself included, because it seemed like a knee-jerk reaction to guys like Soler and Cespedes.
  14. The reports also said Puig was really out of shape as well, didn't they?
  15. Mariner's are reportedly interested in Samardzija. BN did a piece on it here: http://www.bleachernation.com/2014/02/11/resumed-mariner-interest-in-jeff-samardzija-lingering-hope-for-an-extension/
  16. I think I'd start considering Lake around this time, but I wouldn't place him above any of the guys who have already been chosen. Actually, no... I'd probably start considering him around 20-25. He strikes out way too much, draws a scant amount of walks, hits for little power, and is a below average base stealer. Honestly, talking to myself about him I'm not even sure I'd put him 20-25. The only thing he has going for him is he's an OK hitter at a high level, he's at an appropriately young age, and he can play passable defense at multiple positions (but won't dazzle anyone with his skills by any means) That's all I like about him, and that isn't very useful, IMO. To me, Junior Lake's peak would be 2006 Matt Murton, but with more K's and SB's. And that's his ceiling, IMO.
  17. http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/stop_dont_come_back_willy_wonka.gif
  18. Matt Holliday, probably.
  19. The polls were messed up in the crash. Tim is working on getting them back up.
  20. With the D-Backs signing Arroyo, their rotation is currently looking like Corbin, Arroyo, Miley, Cahill, and McCarthy. Bradley probably isn't going anywhere. I imagine he'll switch out with McCarthy if he stumbles down the road again. But that makes Randall Delgado the odd man out, provided they keep him as a starter and don't put him in the bullpen. What would it take for Delgado at this point given the D-Backs clearly aren't that high on him as a starter, even though he performed quite well last year, all things considered?
  21. Well, it looks pretty damn great.
  22. Arbitration deals are boooooring, though.
  23. So will they extend the deadline if you ask for an extension by, say, a couple weeks? Also, do they offer payment plans or do you need to pay the whole cost up front? I'm just curious because my brother and I are trying to figure out if we can delay it a bit, because I'm literally going to find out in a week or two whether or not I'll be making more than enough money to afford these, and they are telling my brother he has less than a week to decide.
