  1. I'd rather watch prospects at Spring Training, so I thought that Red Sox lineup was pretty sweet... but that's not a popular sentiment shared with other baseball fans.
  2. Pierce Johnson. Also hopefully whoever the Cubs pick up after trading Alcantara/Villanueva/Candelario/Vogelbach
  3. I don't disagree with any of that. On the fWAR vs bWAR tip, I thought they came to an agreement to adjust their metrics so that the WAR numbers for players would be comparable from here on out?
  4. This is just typical veteran baseball player stupidity. He was apparently asked if he could put up numbers like Trout, that's a question about 2014, not 2004. What he did last decade has nothing to do with anything. He had a down year due to injuries. He was a 5 win player the year before. He shouldn't need to ask that question because he knows he's capable of doing it because he's already set that precedent. The question should've been about his health, not whether or not he could match the ridiculous numbers of a 21 year old wunderkind. He hasn't been a 5 win player since 2010 and has been in clear decline for 3 consecutive seasons. http://i.imgur.com/z74EBgD.png

  6. I believe what he was asked is if he is motivated by Trout's accomplishments. I get the point of that question, but Pujols doesn't need to be motivated, he needs to be healthy
  7. I was referring to his statements about the numbers he's already put up.
  8. Egotistical? Yes. Inaccurate? Not entirely. Also if someone is asking him now, at 34 years old, if he can put up Mike Trout numbers then they're stupid.
  9. A fixed Mike Olt likely means the acquisition of a top pitching prospect or two, whether it's from trading him or one of the guys who become the odd man out as a result of his awesomeness.
  10. I swear to God I'm losing my mind. I literally checked the numbers before posting that and made sure he was in AAA. This is the 2nd time in a couple days my comprehension has been completely thrown out of the window posting on this site.
  11. EDIT: I'm stupid, see below
  12. the prospecty lineup just becomes outrageously ridiculous if you have a fixed olt And also gives the Cubs some extremely valuable trading chips
  13. Well that's just impressive.
  14. The list of players taken after Simpson that year is depressing as [expletive]. Kaleb Cowart Michael Foltynewicz Christian Yelich Aaron Sanchez Noah Syndergaard Anthony Ranaudo Taijuan Walker Nick Castellanos Mike Olt (heh) Jedd Gyorko Drew Smyly Andrelton Simmons Justin Nicolino Addison Reed A.J. Cole Nick Kingham James Paxton Garin Cecchini Barf.
  15. No, that was my screencap from the tv feed. To me it looked like 1B foot was on the bag just a hair before the runner. I would hope they are using more than just TV feeds for their reviews
  16. The first use of instant replay in ST: http://m.mlb.com/video/v31426205/tormin-rahl-reaches-on-first-use-of-expanded-replay Initially called safe when throw drew 1B off bag. After review the play stands. And I'm pretty sure they were still wrong... http://i.imgur.com/WIYHueI.png
  17. Oh the humanity frame rate! But that's still awesome. Kudos to both of you!
  18. Sounds like more Barney and Bonafacio at SS. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  19. Well now I want to see the Parrot reacting to the Cliff Floyd home run. Is there a gif or video anywhere?
  20. Castro is out 7-10 days with a hamstring injury. MORE BAEZ! http://i.imgur.com/ng2CT.gif
  21. http://movieboozer.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Close-Encounters-of-the-Third-Kind-3.jpg
  22. Javier Baez will be proof that Jim Hendry wasn't a total imbecile.
  23. Must've been based off a photo from last year.
