This is just typical veteran baseball player stupidity. He was apparently asked if he could put up numbers like Trout, that's a question about 2014, not 2004. What he did last decade has nothing to do with anything. He had a down year due to injuries. He was a 5 win player the year before. He shouldn't need to ask that question because he knows he's capable of doing it because he's already set that precedent. The question should've been about his health, not whether or not he could match the ridiculous numbers of a 21 year old wunderkind.
