  1. My brother is able to buy some right now but he has to turn them down because he doesn't want to make the investment. He doesn't even live in Chicago, but wants to move there in 3-4 years time. Was hoping they'd have his number ready by then, not this early. But since they're not that watchable right now he won't be able to justify the investment since he probably won't make a good return on selling them. Back to the end of the line, I suppose.
  2. No automated way to do that I think is the problem, hence pain in the ass. But with how close it is, an run-up vote with only one choice may be in order. Yeah, as logical as that would be I don't want Raisin to do have to do extra work for a tiny extra bit of clarity. I suppose runoff voting is the next logical step. I had forgotten about those.
  3. As Tim and TT both alluded to as well, the big purpose is to get a better consensus when the votes get this divided. Let's say there are 40 voters and 15 people have Vizcaino as 13th, but the other 25 are scared off by the injuries and have him in the 20's. Somebody else could only have 10 people consider him 13th, but everybody else who doesn't has him 14th or 15th. Which one would the consensus pick as the better prospect? Probably the latter. The 3 votes help makes sure that happens. I get that, but I think it inaccurately saturates the voting pool. If Blackburn or Zastryzny wins this round, Vizcaino will have lost to someone he had nearly 20 or more votes than 3 rounds ago. And if people are selecting three people, and then posting that they like them in a specific order, why are they even selecting three people? If you like one more than the other, why not just select that one? Because if you have guys 13-14-15, it's probably not written in stone on anyone's personal list. So, you'd probably be ok with your #15 guy being voted #13. But if you have a guy 15 and your #13 doesn't get the vote, you're voting for him again until he's voted for. Meaning you are NOT voting for your #15 guy until 13 & 14 are both on the list. The MVP voting example is basically perfect. Like I said, I get that. I just don't necessarily like it. Basically Tim's mentioning of phpbb not having ranked polls is truly unfortunate. The board is kind of handcuffed by it in this situation. It would be great if we could attach a preference order.

  5. Gioskar Amaya will emerge as a Top 10 talent in the system by year's end.
  6. Brewery Ommegang is based in Cooperstown. That should be all you need to know. Fun Useless Fact: One of my best friends' Dad manages the Otesaga Hotel.
  7. Not only would it not shock me if he's traded, it wouldn't bother me either. Especially if he bounces back and the kids are ready to go. Castro would likely be moved for pitching and, if his value is restored, would probably bring back something good. OH BOY I HOPE WE HAVE A 24 YEAR OLD 4WAR SS TO TRADE AWAY SOON Sweet, me too. Glad we're on the same page.

  9. Only voted for Olt this time around so as not to over saturate everything
  10. Posted this in the Random Baseball Musiings thread but no one has apparently noticed it, thought the MiLB forum could get some use out of it: That last part is particularly handy and interesting.
  11. This is the bold predictions thread.
  12. This was posted on Reddit. Pretty amazing: Just tried it out. There were 3 right handed pitchers to strike out a batter on a 2 strike 89mph or faster slider . Joe Nathan (who did it twice), Craig Kimbrell, and Jonathan Broxton.
  13. Jesus that graphic is hideous
  14. I don't know if he's actually kind of slow or juts kind of slow for a CFer who plays amazing defense Yeah it's definitely relative, he's "slow" when compared to the elite speed guys in the minors like Billy Hamilton, Buxton, etc. But he isn't "slow" in most contexts. well it was this quote that makes it sounds like his general speed might be below average- i know he was never going to be a base stealer, but i'm wondering if he's going to provide value on the basepaths or not. I could see Almora having a Derrek-Lee-in-his-prime type stolen base output, given that he develops smart baserunning skills and uses them to his advantage.

  16. I did Olt, Candelario, and Vizcaino. Order was Olt, Vizcaino, Candelario. Olt because of the reason N&G said. I think if his problems are fixed he can make an impact now rather than later and be a very valuable asset. Vizcaino because I'm still high on him despite the injuries. I can't ignore his upside, even if he's destined for the pen. Candelario because he's good and deserving of being in this position. Wouldn't mind to see Villanueva there either, but I liked the other three better. I still see Villanueva as a glove only 3B. Honestly, he reminds me of Matt Dominguez, though Dominguez is the better fielder.
  17. Top of my head is that even true for anyone but the dodgers(who of course has yet to have their contract take effect)? Didn't the Angels get one like a year or two ago when they splurged on Wilson, Pujols, and Hamilton?
  18. Yeah, those A's teams he had in the late 80's/early 90's were horse [expletive] man. One world series victory, two AL pennants, and 4 total playoff appearances? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft
  19. I think it shouldn't be a problem for Olt to hit .220. If he fulfills his potential I kind of see him as being comparable to Aramis, value wise. He won't hit for average even remotely close to Aramis, but the power numbers should be similar, and he'll draw more walks and play better defense, and probably play more games each season, too.
  20. You can't post all of the subscriber content, but you can post bullet points. Although, I wouldn't be upset if I got a random PM with the article inside it :-"
  21. David Price trade? New stadium? New Thirsty Thursday prices?
