  1. Perfect world? No way. Gallagher isn't ready for a full season in the bigs. I'd rather take a risk on upside than go with guaranteed crap You and everyone else here. Marquis is not "crap." He's probably going to be about league average, or maybe a little worse, over the course of the full season. Gallagher isn't a lock to even do that.
  2. This is all true. But also, it'd be nice if the hypothetical 23-year-old showed some promise when they got their "shot." Cedeno didn't show anything like this -- he was abysmal in 2005. He looked clueless at the plate. I'm not terribly excited about a shortstop with no strike zone judgment, an erratic arm and a total lack of baseball instincts.

  4. It seems this is your argument: Because Lou Brock existed, we shouldn't worry about Felix Pie.
  5. Yes, he rakes left-hand pitching, but not so much right-handed pitching. And he's awful defensively. He's a great 4th OF, or a platoon guy to start against LHP. He shouldn't be getting 100-plus starts. He's basically Craig Wilson.
  6. Don't say "Cubbies."
  7. Championships are won by scoring more runs than your opponent. There are lots of way to accomplish that.
  8. a) No b) Because Cedeno sucks at baseball, and Ceda and Veal can't throw strikes.
  9. I hope he hangs around long enough for me to see him pitch in Mississippi this year. Are you going to see the Smokies play there in June? If so, we'll have to get together. What's with your signature? It's Obama in a bumper car. What's with yours? I thought everyone was supposed to have indie bands in their signatures?

  11. Oh, you're so naive. I'm sorry.
  12. Well, it looks like that guy isn't going to pull off the Hart trade so I've swooped in. After much back and forth he proposed (first 5 rounds are keeper rounds) Hart, 8th round, 10th round for Manny, Bedard, 24th and 25th round. I came back with upping the 8th and 10th to 7th and 9th. So I'm sure we'll come to an agreement soon. Funny part is that this whole thing was me trying to trade one guy I was going to keep and players I wasn't going to keep to improve my team. I was never planning on keeping Manny and Bedard!!! I guess now I'm going to chose Hart and throw Berkman back into the draft. Beckett's back has me worried, but not that worried. http://www.blogger.com
  13. Great offense. Pitching could be great as well, but your top two guys have some injury concerns, and Cain has no offense behind him. Still, there's a lot of potential there if a few things break right. I really like the offense though.
  14. Like, "that there" league? The one over there?
  15. I have no idea why the Yankees are so pissed about that play. I don't understand what Crawford was supposed to do. Go around? Slide into him and maybe sprain his ankle? Stop running and get tagged out because it's the Yankees?
  16. Wow, you must pull some incredible tail. Congrats, stud. who's that in your avatar, jessica alba? meh her face is like a 5 and her body is a 7, i guess i'd give her a charity lay. I only put up that picture because I feel sorry for her ugliness.

  18. Not if you've seen his wife.
  19. Saw this article on Baseball Musings. As a pretty big Star Wars geek & Dusty basher, it gave me a chuckle
  20. It's probably more because sportswriters at major papers have been around a long time, and they're stuck in their ways. They've been covering sports for 20-plus years, and they've always known that RBIs and wins are great ways to measure players. Why change now? I think you'll start to see this kind of thinking go away once the old-time sportswriters die off. Hopefully that happens soon. I only sort of mean that.
  21. Smart-hacking!!!!!
  22. Imagine some of the incredible young stars we could have in this league if not for Bakers influence. What "incredible young stars" would there be?
  23. Wow. Just, wow.
  24. Just an FYI, your "nsbb.com" re-direct takes us to nothsidebaseball.com. Might want to add that "r" into "north."
