  1. Of course it is. The age part points one direction, and the production part points the exact opposite direction. Obviously Fielder has been very productive and that'll drive his price way up. On the other hand he's still in his prime years. Everyone else understood what he was saying.
  2. I think it's pretty awesome too, but I'll bet none of these "kids" were considered cool when they were in school. I'm glad we have the not "cool" kids running our team rather than the meathead athletes who would've have been "cool". Did you guys all go to high school in an 80s movie? +1.
  3. Mooched? I can empathize with your larger point, but that's sort of a hostile attitude toward people who are willingly visiting your website.
  4. You're seeing different ads than everyone else, most likely, based on your browsing history. Been hungry today?
  5. Why not? If he can stay healthy, I don't think there's any reason this is impossible. Likely? No. But not impossible either. Because that would make him one of the best 10 or so players in baseball and I don't think it's very likely.
  6. At this point Sizemore reminds me of a much higher upside Rocco Baldelli, who Theo signed a few years ago. Seems like the kind of guy the new regime would go after. Even in the best case scenario, Sizemore's not going to be a 6-7 WAR guy again, but he's still a nice lottery ticket.
  7. I realize it's not generally what big budget teams do, but any sense in waiting to bring Brett Jackson up to delay his arbitration clock? I think he's pretty much ready, but it's not unreasonable to give him a few more at bats in the minors.
  8. Actually, most of what you said consisted of opinions and weird commands.
  9. Why is it hard for people here to believe that Crane Kenney might actually be a clown?
  10. I dunno, I think "Number 2" was a great name.
  11. Gammons bashed the Cubs' farm system! Let's make fun of his brain aneurysm!
  12. Not even that much. He wanted to pick him up off waivers for no cost and really no risk. Eckstein got on base 41% of the time in the minors, which is what I'm sure he was pointing out. And while sportswriters have ruined Eckstein forever, he did average 2.6 WAR for the first 5 yrs of his career, which is pretty decent considering his cost.
  13. Hey why talk about theo effing epstein when we can all nitpick each other to death about whether the cubs have 4 average ballplayers or 5 average ballplayers.
  14. Multiple outlets, eh? Arguably.
  15. Theo's a sabermetric guy. Not a big enough sample size.
  16. I agree that the longer this drags on without hearing something, anything about Theo sticking around, the more likely it is that he's leaving.
  17. The whole highly accurate reporter?
  18. It might help to consolidate the Hendry Fired and Ricketts List threads with this one. They're all sort of saying the same thing at this point, aside from that discussion about the A's being worth $2 trillion or whatever.
  19. Oh man, that would be awesome just to hear what Kaplan/Stone/etc say I'd love to see who bashes Beane for writing Moneyball. And hiring Brad Pitt to portray him.
  20. I don't actually know much about Cashman as a GM. I just assumed the Yankees success was due mostly to the gobs of $$$ spent, not as much because of Cashman's brilliance. This is probably not entirely fair.
  21. Wrong. They'll look like an OLDER version of the 2011 Cubs.
  22. Well, sure. But that seems like sort of an unfair scenario you've set up. There's no guarantee that hanging onto prospects, rather than trading them, will make a team "great" for 10-15 years.
  23. How are we supposed to chill out when the Bears are obviously planning to use Sam Hurd as their #1 receiver?
  24. If they actually had a good o-line, it might work.
