  1. This game is over. The Raiders won't be able to score 3 times because they can't stop the Bears junk offense fast enough. Man, they're bad.
  2. Kaplan apparently said Harbaugh would have interest... https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2023/10/21/jim-harbaugh-bears-rumors/
  3. Think Mahomes would be Stafford-ish if the Bears had drafted him?
  4. so... Harbaugh to the Bears after the season?
  5. I've often wondered if McKennie could be a CB. I imagine he could hold up physically, would give you really good passing for a CB, and tons of range covering for other players... no idea if it's feasible, but it would allow us to have a more talented player on the field, and it's not like our CBs are setting the world on fire, as a 74 year old Tim Ream might still be our best CB
  6. NFL told Rodgers that wasn't allowed when he was negotiating with the Jets. Can't imagine it would be allowed for a draft pick either.
  7. The Cabrera contract isn't aging well, and nobody should have expected it to, but that's not Detroit's biggest problem. Their biggest problem is the other poor signings they've made (Javy being one of the strongest examples) and lack of development from their minor leagues. Their 2018 and 2019 rosters are just abysmal
  8. exactly... and the two games for which they have had the most time to prepare (GB to open the season, Minnesota off the mini-bye) they have looked woefully unprepared. Eberflus is 0-8 vs the NFC North, and I sure wouldn't bet against him being 0-12 at the end of this year...
  9. My bad... Arizona's picks... and to answer @jersey cubs fan it obviously wouldn't make sense for Houston because they dont need to move up for a QB, but maybe Arizona would. I was just an idiot and mixed up the way the trade went last year
  10. Saw someone float the idea of trading #2 (if the Bears get 1 and 2) for both picks the Texans own. As long as one of those is top 7ish, I'm game for that idea. Maybe pick Brock Bowers or an OT with the first, and go either WR or EDGE with the 2nd to go with Williams/Maye
  11. Turns 24 Friday... their punter on the other hand turns 31 in January
  12. Yeah, and I was thinking more Jose Ramirez than Pete Alonso if we move Alcantara
  13. Absolutely. I'm just looking at Alcantara in terms of his option years left and our current OF situation. With Happ and Seiya taking the corners for the next 2 years and PCA hopefully locking down CF, there doesn't seem to be a lot of space for him. Add in Caissie being on a similar track and Canario already at the big league level, our OF seems crowded and he's a potential big piece in a deal for a 3B/1B/SP
  14. He and Alcantara both seem like good trade pieces
  15. Whether you believe they should be able to or not, pitchers in the modern game are not built to carry that kind of load. We could speculate as to why, but all you have to do is look at Justin Steele this year to see what happens when you increase a guy's workload dramatically. He was absolute nails until his final few starts when he was merely ok. The starters generally would not remain healthy or effective when you dramatically increase their workloads. It's possible some might thrive, but the more likely result is guys being burned out and/or injured and your season falling apart because you have to fill in the gaps with guys like Caleb Killian or Drew Smyly or Adrian Sampson. A more effective solution to improving the pitching is building a better bullpen and taking the load off of the rotation early in the year and finding a way to bring in reinforcements throughout the year as injuries and ineffectiveness remove options.
  16. Philly's unis they're wearing tonight are pretty dang sharp
  17. Seriously? Moving a guy who is at least solidly above average in LF to make way for a guy nobody thinks is good in the OF? Soto will likely not care if he ever plays another game in the OF if we give him a buttload of $$$, which we should because he is an awesome hitter. Nobody is paying Juan horsefeathering Soto for his defense.
  18. It doesn't matter that Soto has played the OF, he does it poorly. And even if he was average, that's worse than Seiya and Happ, so if he were a Cub his best position is DH and that is perfectly OK because he's a top 3 hitter in the game right now and is generally likely to remain very good because he is only 24 years old.
  19. Among active players, Soto is 3rd in adjusted OPS+ at 157 , behind Trout (173) and Judge (164). He is 7 years younger than both of them. Acuna, Olson, Bregman, and Seager are the only other under 30 players in the top 28. They're all 16 points or more in OPS+ behind. Even if he is only a DH, Soto is a superstar worth a buttload of $$$ and a few good (not top) prospects
  20. honestly, i was expecting a lot more from the article. Kind of a blah retelling just hoping to generate clicks based off of Cubs fans being gluttons for punishment.

  22. Clearly, having Chase Claypool with the team was the problem
  23. Are they really going to start Steele in this meaningless game? Shut him down. He was great, but has really faded down the stretch.
