  1. In Little League I played right field ‘Cause no-one my age could hit the ball there And my best friend led the team in hits And I was lucky if I got to bat Hitless through my childhood years My baseball dreams all disappeared, but... I always wished that I could be a Cubby Wrigley Field, summer afternoon In the top of the ninth I’d catch a long fly To save the game like I could never do And maybe someday I can be a Cubby Even only for a day or two I’ll sit on the bench, ‘cause that’s where I play the best But my heart will be beating Cubby blue But I always wished that I could be a Cubby Wrigley Field, summer afternoon From the bleachers to the stands Every woman child and man Will stand and sing with voices loud and true And maybe someday we can watch the Cubbies Win the World Series once again Bases loaded in the ninth, I’ll step up to the plate And hit the ball to Waveland Avenue To win one for the Cubby blue
  2. Haha yes if you're looking down your nose at folks goofing around and having fun at a wedding, then you're stuffy. My advice would be, next time stay home and replay William and Kate on the DVR, and pretend you're royalty too. Or better yet, move to England and become a cricket fan. You couldn't have missed the point any more than you did
  3. Well, it certainly was lucky that the Bears had already clinched the division and had nothing to play for in Week 17
  4. Just because a song is purposely whimsical/cheesy doesn't disqualify it from scrutiny
  5. no, the people sitting there pouting about people singing and having fun at a [expletive] baseball game are the ones who look like idiots. why can't it be both?
  6. Why would they?
  7. It's not the singing that bothers me, it's the terrible, terrible song they're singing
  8. CBA expected to be ratified on Thursday
  9. Apparently winning when you're the underdog epitomizes the American Spirit[tm], but losing when you're heavily favored is just something that happens aw shucks oh well
  10. Bulls announcers said "Michael" for years
  11. It's AAA. I know, but compared to the Cleveland AAA team, Pittsburgh had way more washed up vets. Pittsburgh had a lineup with Ronny Cedeno, Pedro Alvarez, Steve Pearce, Andy Marte and Garrett Olson. Cleveland's team didn't have anyone I recognized as having any significant major league service time (outside of Shelley Duncan, who also crushed a tape measure homer)
  12. Alvarez crushed a deep, opposite field homer last night. Pretty impressive. Then again, he's hitting under .250 in AAA.....
  13. I expect ESPN will run features about the strength of the Japanese spirit, and how Japanese exceptionalism led them to victory.... /*crickets*
  14. I'm at the Clippers vs Indians AAA game, and half the Pirates "prospects" have a bunch of ML service time
  15. his options NOT vesting leads me to believe that it would be harder to convince him to give up his NTC
  16. I always zoom in before I click on anything. Makes clicking the little "send me to the newest post" button much easier
  17. you must [expletive] hate Len's "Hey Hey" call of the Edmonds homer
  18. Olney threw out a possible Rasmus for BJ Upton trade
  19. Those are pretty girly tattoos
  20. According to FanGraphs, Marmol's use of his fastball has decreased over the past 4 seasons from, 48.2% in 2008 down to 38.4% in 2011, while his slider has increased from 38.2% to 56.1%. Over that same time period, his fastball velocity has dropped from the 94mph to 92mph. The biggest change is in his movement; while his slider has stayed pretty much the same, his fastball movement has gone from -7.2h/8.8v down to -5.6h/6.7v.
  21. One of the best things Dave Campbell said (while subbing for Brenly) was that Marmol's effectiveness has gone down as his pitch selection has shifted towards the slider and away from the fastball. Without using both, hitters can just sit on the slider.
  22. I think you'd gladly give up bunt hits to the other team's HR hitter all day long
  23. Alfonso Soriano!!!!!11! /wrigley23
  24. You know what would've been really crazy and unexpected? If he had shaved his beard and worn normal clothes and not acted like a douche
