  1. why oh why didn't O'Brien get fired in October? /i know, i know, new ownership wasn't in place yet. It was more of a lament than a question
  2. Did you hear anything about Derrick Williams, Justin Norwood or Justin King this year? If they are good enough to play, they will play. You'll rarely see true freshmen play on the offensive line though. At least 2-3 true freshmen will get playing time on the DL though, due to losses to the NFL. I think their 5* recruit, AJ Wallace, will get a decent amount of playing time in the secondary with all 4 starters being seniors last year. BTW, this makes 8 commits from Maryland, 7 of whom are 4 or 5 stars in the Rivals rankings. One 5*, thirteen 4* and eight 3*. Definitely a top 5 class nationally now with the two 4* commits today. If Hazelton defects from USC I will just about pass out. Williams/Norwood/King/Butler, etc, were the exception rather than the rule (and who else was paterno going to play?) Remember, Paterno stuck with his crappy Sr. QB Zach Mills over the obviously more talented Michael Robinson....
  3. You wonder if JoePa will let any of these guys play as true Freshmen or if we're going to have to wait 3 years to hear their names again.
  4. First year in a very competitive conference for DePaul. I think it'll only help in the long run. Yep...no Purdues or Penn States to beat up on in this league. nope, just DePaul to beat up on :x
  5. Just want to pipe in to remind everyone that my DePaul Blue Demons lost to lowly Providence and are now 8-9 (1-4). Yes, we suck butt. That is all.
  6. I'll take 10 out of the top 100 (6 in top 50) for year 1 of Weis recruiting :) They have 6 out of the Rivals top 100 and 6 out of the Scout top 100... I think those are both more credible sources, since Lemming is known to be a Notre Dame fan, which skews his rankings. Also, it is now official... 4 star QB and top 10 QB (nationally) Pat Devlin has decommitted from Miami and will be attending PSU. Huge pickup late in the game... next up is one of the top OL prospects, Antonio Logan-El, announcing today, followed by a mammoth DL, Phillip Taylor. I think PSU could use Logan-El more, but he's probably about a 60% shot to go to Maryland. Taylor, according to many, has already verballed to PSU, so I'd put him at about 90% to PSU over Maryland. Penn State got an oral comittment from DL Johnny Troutman, who picked the Lions over O$U and Maryland. Link
  7. Awesome. I can't WAIT to hear the sultry voice of Jon Miller beautifully counterpointed by the insightful Joe Morgan
  8. I miss Steve Stone 1549816198468168 times more than I miss Harry (in the booth....not trying to downplay his passing or anything)
  9. and to me andro is no less cheating than steroids....both were legal in baseball at the time, both are performance enhancing, both are now illegal in baseball....giving yourself an edge is giving yourself an edge.
  10. McGwire using andro wasn't "cheating" only because it wasn't against the rule to use it in baseball (at the time)
  11. no worse than spending $2.5 mil on a player no one but Dusty wants and being stuck with him as a starting middle infielder....
  12. I'd rather the Steelers win, but either way I'm cool
  13. Barrett. Why Dusty wastes him in the #8 spot is beyond absurd. He had the most RBI among NL catchers for most of last year, imagine how many more he'd have batting 5th?
  14. Can you get a sack and a fumble on the same play? that was 4th down anyway. plummer turned it over once each half. Well the interception this half plus giving it up on downs by fumbling would count as 2 to me in this half. And that's the ball game.
  15. Can you get a sack and a fumble on the same play?
  16. We finally see the real Jake Plummer this half. It was only a matter of time before he started playing in panic-mode and turned the ball over a bunch
  17. Harry was never my favorite, but his attempts to pronounce Grudzielanek were comedy gold. Generally, I think people doing Harry Caray impersonations are funnier than Harry was himself, but that's just me.
  18. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. Pittsburgh coaches need to chew out these players
  19. Ah, "falling on a grenade" as it were. This is old news as far as Grace goes. And yes, Grace was sorta screwed by Chicago. They wanted Choi in there and wouldn't even consider resigning Grace, more or less ignoring his contribution to the team for all those years and giving him an unfriendly kick out the door. According to Grace, they wouldn't even return his calls.
  20. I haven't seen a team this outcoached in a championship game in a long time. Denver looks like they've never played football before.
  21. Because Alan Benes and Matt Morris were just too dominant for us to resign. They both play for the Yankees now. We just need some arms to fill in around Rick and Bud. As long as you still have Darryl Kile as your #3 you should be alright DUUUUUUDE........TOO SOON Too soon? Wasn't that like 3 or 4 years ago?
  22. we'll be in much better shape this offseason with 3 draft picks and enough money to sign at least one big man. Sure, as long as they don't pull ANOTHER Hendry and fail to use their money to actually sign an impact player. I do worry about this as the Bulls really haven't signed a marquee player since, well, the Jordan years
  23. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem you're alone. i'm sure i'll end up watching the 2nd game, but i have no feelings one way or the other for either NFC team. My brother in law is a big Steelers fan, so I guess I'll root for them what with the Bears predictble demise
  24. I think i said this about 28 pages back, but the Bulls sorta pulled a "Hendry" this past off season. - With no draft picks, they added no youth - they brought back mainly the same team, assuming they would be good enough to duplicate last year's success - they overpaid a player they overvalue (Chandler) - they rid themselves of a "headache" for low value and underestimated the drop in production caused by the move (Curry)
  25. what was up with the clock not stopping on 1st downs in that game? Don't know. That was weird. Probably had to do with trying to keep the game at 3 hours or less. I only watched the last two minutes, though. me too. That one long play went out of bounds with about 1:30 left but the clock kept running, and it kept running on that bomb to the 1 yard line. And how uncreative a play call for the final play. They took a time out and that was the best they could come up with?
