  1. Alright, time for bed. Great thread guys! Let's hope the Bears can get it done in a few weeks. Sad to think that football is ending soon. Guess we have Spring Training to look forward to. Oh wait, it's the Cubs, never mind.
  2. That's what I said earlier. Which LB was spying Young all game? Apparently no one
  3. hahahaha The shock smiley is the best smiley ever! Sorry, had to do it
  4. yeah i saw that too. Me and my buddies pretty much said the same thing about him. USC's offense did a great job against Texas' defense, but they did not lose the game. Vince Young stepped up and won it. Why couldn't Leinart just man up to Texas and say they played one hell of a ballgame? Man, and I thought Leinart was a decent guy. Although Young was being a jerk for saying whose the real Heisman. Bush is. He won it. Come back next year and win it. That's true. Bush deserved to win the Heisman no doubt, and is without question the better pro prospect.
  5. The NFL playoffs are going to suck after this bowl season.
  6. Sorry. I hate it when someone loses and then doesn't give any credit to the team that won. "They didn't beat us, we lost." STFU dude. (not you, Leinart)
  7. agreed. The NFL and NBA don't come close to matching the intensity of college football and college basketball. Winning for a school/students always trumps winning for a city (read: winning for cash) Meanwhile college baseball doesn't get a large enough following. Probably because the powerhouse programs aren't in major cities (or the east coast)
  8. Probably. But then again there are not that many VYoung's or Michael Vick's around. I wonder what would happen if Bush was a QB on his HS team instead of RB, and was recruited as a QB? I don't think there will be a movement. While there will be players like Vick and Young, they will be rare and being QB is a very difficult position. Throwing the ball accurately is really hard. Micheal Robinson is an example of a very athletic WR moved to QB, and while he has had some success, he probably won't make a big splash in the NFL, at least not as a QB, but I could see him moved back to WR. True. As long as NFL offenses aren't open to the option/QB as a runner scheme, these types will likely be relegated to college only.
  9. Leinart is saying that USC lost (instead of Texas won). What a prick. Hope he knocks up that Laguna Beach chick and gets gential herpes.

  11. What? How did they not? They were given the trophy and declared Nat. Champions... because the BCS is BS. Had LSU played USC, we would have had a champion. But they didn't, so we don't know. I don't think the BCS system justifies declaring LSU the champion just because a bunch of greedy schools agreed to a clearly flawed system. I really don't understand why anyone cares so much though? Are you that defensive of LSU or just that hateful of USC? They did the best they could with 3 undefeated teams I guess. I just don't like LSU getting forgotten in the face of a "good story". Is the BCS flawed? Sure, but if that's the season, you can't pick and choose when it suits you and when it doesn't. LSU won the BCS trophy that year period.
  12. Penn State won 20 years ago, but don't know the date. New Year's Day. Ahhh. Remember when all of the games were on New year's? That was nice. Now you rarely see 2 bowl games on at the same time. Thanks, corporate greed! My dad and I ran into downtown State College and celebrated with what few students were in town over the hollidays. Ah to be 11 again. Or to have Penn State win another title. My parents took me to the airport to greet the team in both '82 and '86 I didn't live in SC yet in '82. I do remember being at a Youth Group function at my church and John Shaffer (sp?) was there and waiting to hear if the got drafted. Didn't happen.
  13. According to a radio station in Pittsburgh, he has "extensive ligament damage" Poor guy. Then again, greedy fan in me says "maybe he won't be able to do the combines and will have to come back for his senior year."

  15. man, you are bitter. no he doesn't... you are just pissed that he just beat your team. I'll cut the guy some slack. He just beat the "unbeatable team" who the media has been drooling over for the past month. That's what I'm saying. I hate Texas as much as anyone, but all year it's been Leinart/Bush/USC/3 Peat. PUKE. I can't blame Texas for being a bit overstated, they earned it. Any other scenario, and I'd have been rooting for SC, but they really needed to go away. Listening to the media fellate them for weeks over a 3 peat would have been nearly unbearable. Dealing with all the Texans here will be bad, but slightly more tolerable. Especially since they didn't win the BCS championship 2 years ago. But why bring that up? It's only a lie that this would have been a three peat. With the BCS installed as the system for a "true national champion", no one should recognize the polls at the end of the year at all. No split champions, nothing. If the BCS is the system, then that is the system. /end bitter rant....for now the BCS sucks. get over it. LSU didn't win that championship anymore than USC. Who cares anyway? What? Go look at the final BCS standings that year and tell me who is #1. And many, many people care.
  16. Does anyone else think that colleges are going to start recruiting great athletes and try to make them into double threat QB's? Is this where football is headed?

Can't let that get in the way of the hype machine.
  19. man, you are bitter. no he doesn't... you are just pissed that he just beat your team. he didn't. The referees did. ah geez. C'mon. Let's get real and realize that had the refs made that call correctly, the rest of the game would not have progressed exactly as it did. Everytime there is a "refs screwed us" argument people always assume an "all thing being equal" mentality. You can't just take out that one play and assume the rst of the game stays as is i don't know...after watching vince young run roughshod all over usc's defense for the entire game, i really don't think texas would have scored once they had 1st and 10 at the 12. usc showed that they could really put the brakes on young inside the 20. your right, the refs should have just called a Texas TD anytime Texas got inside the 20. In addition, after the first several USC possessions in the 2nd half, they should have just given USC an automatic TD whenever they gained posession of the ball. Jigga what?

Too long ago for you guys to remember that i was the one that argued with him in the first place. Well consider that directed towards the bitter Trojan fans then

  24. Ha! Corso is saying Young should go #1. The idiocy is without limits
  25. You don't sell the naming rights to a national championship trophy... no matter how much they are will to spend. Eventually the only trophy without a commercial name on it will be the Stanley Cup. Only because no one cares about hockey snap! Maybe they can get Molson or LaBatt's to slap a sticker on that bad boy
