  5. Dom. Rep. is gonna be trouble this tourney, aren't they...
  6. Zambrano is no longer smuggling a bag of flour under his jersey! Looking good Z!
  7. Some would argue it matters more who you are as a person as opposed to how good you were at baseball. And I don't anybody has told people to not talk about what he did as a player. Fine. I just feel like the people here who wish to celebrate his on-field accomplishments are being told they shouldn't because he wasn't a good person.
  8. If tomorrow it came out and then 10 years later they died, I'm sure one of the topics discussed upon their death would be the negative sides of their lives. Kirby has not been worth talking about for quite some time. Unfortunately this has been the first time in a while his name was discussed, and people are rehashing what they remember of him. When Steve Garvey dies, people aren't going to just talk about the positive. but if people want to remember him for being a great ballplayer, who cares about the rest? Does it make him a worse player? Does it tarnish his HoF plaque?
  9. there is a difference between not turning a blind eye to the player's life and using his death as your opportunity to rake him over the coals. What if tomorrow it came out that Santo was a philanderer? Or that Ryno gambled on games? Would you demonize them before their bodies turned cold?
  10. I think Kinsella is Joe Morgan's ghost writer....
  11. agreed. The white guy at the end of the bench the last 2 or 3 years has the same winning % as Brown. So what?
  12. or a man or both
  13. When Dee is on, this team is fantastic. When he's not (eg vs. Iowa) they are very beatable. That said, they could be a Final Four team and surprise no one.
  14. NU had no inside game at all last Saturday, thus no free throws. Penn State is really good at creating turnovers too. When does the TV schedule for the BTT come out? After today's OSU/Purdue game?
  15. I felt like PSU's style of play matched up really well against NU's when I saw them play last weekend. If the Wildcats are just going to shoot 25 foot 3-pointers all game, they are screwed (unless they go like 15-25 from behind the line). If they can get the ball inside, they may have a shot. On the other hand, it's awfully tough to beat the same team 3 times in one season, so history isn't on Penn State's side.
  16. You think teams will be studying the last two games' worth of tape on Duke? If it wasn't for the man-love the selection comittee has for the Blue Devils, you would almost think they would need to win the ACC tourney to get the #1 seed. But no, they can lose to Clemson or whoever next week and still get the easiest regional. Bummer that DePaul lost. But like Penn State, they are returning nearly all of their players next year and should be better. The one announcer during today's game said the Blue Demon back court will be one of the best in the Big East next year. We'l see...
  17. I heard he wants to return to his roots, wrestling in middle america with the AWA. Oh wait, you said Eric Gagne, my bad.
  18. And of course Consumer Reports is incorrect based on, what, the fact that it goes opposite of what you believe?
  19. Speaking of which, Flames, I was wrong about DePaul being eliminated from Big East tourney contention. They can get in if they beat ND on Saturday (please don't) and Providence loses to Marquette on Saturday (likely). So they'd get in as the final seed and get humilated by UConn or Villanova. Great!
  20. wow, depaul is putting the beat down on the Orange...
  21. The State College Spikes released their inaugural NY-Penn League Schedule, and I just love the other "cities" in the league. I mean, how am I supposed to choose which game to go to? Batavia or Tri-County? Staten Island or Mahong Valley? What, Ogdenville, Brockway and North Haberbrook weren't available? Go Spikes!
  22. How many (spring training) games will be televised outside of the Chicago area?
  23. Penn State, that was pathetic. 19% shooting in the first half? You think you're going to win a game in the NIT? Grrrrr....
  24. http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/carreviews/03/01/cr_top_picks/index.html countdown to JR discrediting the source starts.......now
