Cub draft picks outside 1st Round since 1987

I didn't list sandwich picks. I just kept changing the date on baseball-almanac.com's 1st round draft lists. -
It will be fun as long as 'Nova wins (in my Final Four). But I pick the Wildcats to win this one. :wink:

people, consider the source. Santo isn't exactly known for breaking big transaction news. He's usually lucky to know what day it is and what town he's in. -
Clearly the US didn't have enough professional hitters and gamers.

The Bucks game last week stuck a fork in them in my mind. They haven't put a win streak together all year and have been sub .500 all year as well. Even if they nabbed the 8th spot they would be schooled by Detroit and lose a lottery pick. Write the season off and play for draft position.

And.....my Elite 8 teams start going down in flames. UNC and Bucknell (granted a long shot). At least my Final 4 is still intact

this didn't hurt me as I had Kansas beating Pitt anyways. Now I am crazy enough to have Bucknell meeting UCLA in the regional final :shock:

Unfortunately, the announcers are going to beat the joke into the ground until it's not funny anymore. When they first telestrated it I actually laughed out loud. Now they just need to shut up.

If they were consistantly good they would be. Gonzaga gets that nod because every year they are a good team over time. Tell me this, do you think Gonzaga would have been a 3 seed this year if they averaged 4 wins for the past 4 years? They certainly got the #3 based on the past as they didn't beat anyone good this year besides Michigan St. They lost to Washington, UConn and Memphis and then ran the table in a pathetic conference.

I'm curious which of these clubs have had the best success with 1st rounders. Foe every Wood or Prior we have a Montanez or Brownlie.... EDIT: Here's the list, unfiltered for original poster's criteria 87-Mike Harkey 88-Ty Griffin 89-Earl Cunningham 90-Lance Dickson 91-Doug Glanville 92-Derrek Wallace 93-Brooks Kieschnick 94-Jayson Peterson 95-Kerry Wood 96-Todd Noel 97-Jon Garland 98-Corey Patterson 99-Ben Christiansen 00-Luis Montanez 01-Mark Prior 02-Bobby Brownlie 03-Ryan Harvey 04-No Pick 05-Mark Pawalek I think with a few notable exceptions, the Cubs have come up woefully short on converting 1st round picks into anything remotely useful, and to me that's more of a condemnation of their scouting/development than the late round picks -
I hear Marquis Grissom will be the #4 starter.
