  1. The refs didn't lose this game for the Bulls. The refs didn't make them shoot 30%, the refs didn't cause them to not take advantage to a long stretch with Shaq and Wade off the floor. I'm sick of people blaming refs for everything. The Bulls should have won this game by double digits and did not. As such, they will likely lose the series.
  2. Merkcer was the nicest and least arrogant baseball player I ever met. that's fine. but the way he handled his spat with stone was lame and unprofessional
  3. the ESPN email server probably sends this as an auto-response to any email having the words Joe Morgan in it.
  4. What does that mean? Means that he came advertised as the next great thing but can't get it together at the major league level. I know Guzman's sample size is small to this point, but I see similarities nonetheless. Great arm strength but too much nibbling, too many walks, little confidence. That's about the most ridiciulously premature giving up on a prospect I've ever seen. Pitchers don't show up with all their guns blazing. It's very rare for guys to have much success in their first few games, and it's not rare at all for them to give up lots of walks, hits and runs. Agreed. The hyperbole around here lately all around is ridiculous. sorry, I'm frustrated. Of course Cy Young could be pitching today and the cubs wouldn't win (0 runs is a tough way to win)
  5. Jacque Jones makes me pine for Jeromy Burnitz

  7. Angel Guzman = Juan Cruz Redux btw, Cubs have been outscored 34-4 since Saturday. Against the Brewers and Pirates. I'll be in the bathtub with my straight razor if anyone needs me.
  8. 78 pitches through 4? I smell a Glendon sighting! Batting practice is open Bucco's!
  9. Mercker and Alou acted like grade-A douche bags. I'm glad Stone called them out
  10. As a Cubs fan I have no problem admitting that Dave Duncan is the pitching coach god......the Anti-Rotschild as it were. Duncan takes sucky pitchers and makes them great (Ponson, Carpenter, Suppan) Rothshild takes awesome pitchers and makes them suck (Zambrano, Prior, Wood)
  11. Jagger looks like a pre-pubesent girl in that clip. that would be the ugliest prebusescent girl in history
  12. Beatles > Pink Floyd > Led Zeppelin > CSNY > Queen > The Who > Black Sabbath > King Crimson > Journey > Bad Company > Heart > Blue Oyster Cult > Molly Hatchet > Mott the Hoople > Rolling Stones
  13. Not all of us need to dye our head red. Some of us are naturally gifted. You're a Ginger? Eric Cartman would like a word with you
  14. the guy running the gamecast had a few too many oldstyles pre-game
  15. sweet, espn.com's gamecast is already farked and we;re not out of the first inning yet
  16. please never utter a carchprhase of hawk harrelson here again [-X
  17. Beltre is on the board! I no longer have anyone with 0 homers (though I do have 3 with 2 or less)
  18. perhaps they should make a baby together. his name could be Mike Tyson
  19. Well, everyone who wanted to see the kids pitch, here you go! 60% of the rotation is now Hill, Marshall and Guzman. Heck, lets' trade Zambrano and move Maddux to short relief so we can get Ryu and Brownlie up here too!
  20. the key to the Cardinals success (and the last season+ of the White Sox' success) is health. All thing being equal, one might suggest that Prior/Zambrano/Wood/Maddux/Marshall + Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez is better than Mulder/Carpenter/Marquis/Suppan/Ponson + Pujols and Edmonds or Buehrle/Garland/Vasquez/Contreras/Garcia + Konerko and Thome The truth is, however, that the Cubs can't keep that combo on the field EVER while the other two teams seem to limit the injuries on their key players. The White Sox starting 5 started 152 games last year (with McCarthy getting the other 10 starts). When was the last time that Pujols was on the DL? Dave Duncan is head, shoulders, hips and knees above Rothschild and it shows in many aspects of the game. His pitchers don't get injured, he makes bad/mediocre pitchers better (Carpenter, Marquis, Ponson) while Rothschild takes all-star quality pitchers and can't keep them healthy or consistent (Wood, Prior, Zambrano).
  21. 04/05 - 6 runs (L) Rusch gives up 4 earned runs, 2 HR, pitchers hits HR off him 04/11 - 2 runs (L) Rusch Gives up 4 earned, all home runs, Pitcher repeats performance. 04/16 - 7 runs (W) Gives up 3 earned to one of the worst teams in baseball on yet another HR 04/22 - 1 run (L) Totally lost strike Zone and while not giving up and HRs for 1st time all season, he walked the bases loaded just ahead of some guy named Puljous. 04/29 - 2 runs (L) 7 earned on 4 home Runs and 3 walks He might be the nicest guy in the world but there is a reason the yankees have 27 rings and we have 2 and its not because they keep nice guys around who cant perform we dont want him in the bullpen, he gives up WAY WAY WAY to many home runs and would destroy us. the only thing he should be used for is getting innings in blowouts like this weekends games. Save the good arms and do away with his Unfortunately, GM's aren't known for paying guys $2.5 million to mop up in blow out games.
