  1. while I don't think he's the answer, I also don't think we should be selling. Vets for prospects doesn't work on a big market club. You want the Cubs to rebuild? I think you simply set your sights on next year and try to trade vets for vets who might help next year.
  2. given the less than stellar choices, I went with El Caballo.
  3. can anyone do a quick calculation of his ERA/WHIP for his rehab starts so far?
  4. how the hell he made it past security is beyond me, and very impressive. does Germany have PMITA prison?
  5. I only have 3 "perfect score" guys. And I think Truffle has some similar players to me, as I'm perpetually 50 behind him. If that's true, it's impossible for me to catch him (unless his other guys all get hit by a trolley or something)
  6. crap, i missed it
  7. I turned it on at 2:30 and it was Greg Anthony talking NBA and it said something else was "Next" in the corner, no Dusty
  8. why not save some money by firing the bullpen coach and giving all the relievers those square "pagers" they have at Applebees? Your pager starts flashing/buzzing, warm up! That's pretty funny but it is a good idea. :) http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/restaurant-pager-case.jpg
  9. someone needs to tape it and put it on Youtube. I'm sure it will be comedy gold
  10. Of course, if he ACTUALLY copied the White Sox, we'd be in good shape. Instead he copied what the media made up about the White Sox (Ozzieball) instead. White Sox 2005 = Healthy pitching + lots of homers Chicago Cubs 2006 = Injured pitching + no homers
  11. If I remember correctly, Neifi's homer was just after the Cubs lost to Houston and everyone thought we were toast. It was in the Astrodome in the series when Terry Mulholland overthrew a little lollipop throw to Mark Grace at first that allowed the Astros to win. I mean it was literally "Cubs lose, they're now a 1/2 game out" to "news from Coors Field: Neifi Perez has hit a homerun to defeat the Giants, the Cubs are back in it!"
  12. Bruce Miles: The Mouthpiece of NSBB'ers around the world! Unfortunately, Hendry is no different than our politicians. Write as many scathing articles about them as you'd like, but it won't make them change a thing about how they do their job.
  13. My new fear would be that if Cuban bought the Cubs but TribCo. kept WGN TV that that would be the end of nationwide Cubs broadcasts. Unless the sale had games on WGN as a contingency, I would think it more likely that Cuban would try to make his own TV network or sell all the rights to CSN.
  14. - Wood's 20k game. I was in class at Grad School at the time but checked the score online. For whatever reason the 1 hitter is what stuck out to me and I didn't realize the importance of the 20 k's until I got home and watched Sportscenter. - Brant Brown drop - in my apartment, screaming just as loud as Santo - Game 163 - again, in my apartment, and I was jumping up and down so hard I'm surprised my downstairs neighbors didn't call the cops. I almost ran to Wrigley to buy playoff tix but didn't. - Game 6 - Working at Harpo. We were putting together the set for some fashion show or something and the video guys were nice enough to pump the game in to the monitors in the studio but we had no audio. I didn't see the play live, but someone said something about fan interference and we stopped to watch the replay. (I also saw the Pistons/Pacers crowd brawl on a monitor in the video room at Harpo.....missed so many sports moments due to those horrible hours...) - Nomar trade - I was at my in-laws house for a party and kept finding reasons to slip out and check the internet for Cubs news. I was so freaking thrilled when I read the news that I was SURE it was our year. Dammit.

  16. in my experience, video boards don't provide much useful info. I don't remember the last time one actually kept up to date game info (ie, most stadiums out the season stats up every at bat instead of 1-4, 2B, R)
  17. I've also heard that he wants to return to the AL next year. Plus, after this season, he'll probably demand a 5-7 year deal in the $15mil/year range
  18. I'll take Dunn as soon as the NL adds the DH (god forbid)
  19. is there a site with up to date signings? baseball america is already behind
  20. you're in 3rd place, shut up!
  21. I want a T-Shirt with this face on the front: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_430911.jpg

  23. God I wish this was true. The only reason ninjas still exist is because pirates let them.
