  1. Let's be honest. Todd Walker does the same thing. How many times has he hit a shallow pop up to the outfield, spun around, tossed his bat and jogged to first? Maybe his laziness hasn't gotten as much press because his pop ups haven't fallen in and his lack of hustle hasn't cost a base.
  2. my worst nightmare is coming true. Please, please, PLEASE don't vote for GNR! I love that band, but Floyd is the greatest. (it's probably all you losers who voted CCR over Radiohead who are voting for GNR here.....die!)
  3. check out the "video" section of that website and you'll see a nice montage of them singing. Paul plays lefty too of course! EDIT: Link
  4. In Beatles-ish news, I'm going to see The Cast of Beatlemania tonight. I saw them last year and they were fantastic. They play the songs in more or less chronological order, starting in Ed Sullivan era costumes, then changing to Rubber Soul suits, Sgt. Pepper clothes and finally Let it Be era gear. There are four guys in costume, plus one guy in the back who plays synthesizers, filling in all the strings, brass, or whatnot for the songs. The songs are spot on and the guy who plays John sounds EXACTLY like him. Definitely see them if they come your way: http://www.moptops.com/home.html Set list: I Want to Hold Your Hand I Saw Her Standing There Roll Over Beethoven This Boy From Me to You Please Please Me All My Loving A Hard Days Night Happy Just to Dance Can't Do That Yesterday Act Naturally Lose That Girl Help In My Life Nowhere Man I Feel Fine Day Tripper break Sgt. Peppers/A Little Help Strawberry Fields Forever Penny Lane I Am the Walrus Taxman Hide Your Love Away Got to Get You Into My Life Come Together Back in the USSR Birthday Something Lady Madonna Hey Jude Here Comes the Sun Get Back Revolution encore Twist & Shout Let it Be/Kansas City EDIT: go to the "Concert" section of their site for sound samples of them in concert.
  5. You ever wonder if Greg Maddux sits in the dugout in his off days daydreaming about the days when he was in a rotation with Glavine, Smoltz and Avery?
  6. it's too bad interleague play is done. I'd love to see Ponson face Weaver in a battle of unwanted has-beens
  7. If we're going to cite luck as a reason for anything, I'd say the Cubs winning the central with just 88 wins in '03 would fall into that category
  8. Don't we already have a thread about this? /in before the lock
  9. "When it's going bad, you hustle hard, but you are hustling right at people." "You don't hustle your way on base. You hit your way on base." "Hustling just clogs the bases for players who can hustle faster." This kind of play always reminds me of the Braves game when Andruw Jones took a lazy route to a routine fly ball that fell in front of him. Bobby Cox took him out of the game right then and there. Baker doesn't have the brass to do that to anyone. God forbid he does something that would ruin his "best buddy" status with his players
  10. As a Pink Floyd fan, this matchup scares the bejeezus out of me.
  11. World Series, bottom of the 9th, game on the line. Who would you rather see up to bat for your team: Soriano or Walker? I don't think you'd be considering salary at that point
  12. (1) Pink Floyd - ROUND 1 - Defeated (16) Motley Crue 57-21 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (8 ) Pearl Jam 51-25 (4) Guns N' Roses: - ROUND 1 - Defeated (13) Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention 72-6 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (5) Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 40-31
  13. i'll post the next one tomorrow. Technically this one will run 2 days, but I have a feeling it will lose steam sometime tomorrow morning
  14. AC/DC had a nice little run, but they can't do anything with the Beatles' box and one defense
  15. You had to pick the Beatles' most mellow song to compare to About to Rock? Tell me you've heard the White Album? There's some very heavy stuff on there, especially for its time. It wasnt meant as a side to side comparison. Yesterday is one of my favorites off the top of my head. I listen to more Beatles than AC/DC, BUT... if i want to go all Dee Syder and Want To Rock, ill go with AC/DC for a couple of their better hits. Could i listen to AC/DC everyday...hell no. Revolution and Back in USSR isnt really the same thing as Highway to Hell, Shoot to Thrill, Have a Drink on Me, Hells Bells, TNT and Its A Long Way to The Top. thank Jebus for that
  16. 2+ million? Not according to this site. 2001 - 2.43 million 2002 - 1.78 2003 - 1.64 2004 - 1.58 Baseballreference.com adds 2005 at 1.81, last place in the NL. I figured someone would call that out. Sorry, I got the 2 million + thing from a Bucs fan I was talking to yesterday, not from any real source. The park is small (38,365 capacity) so even at 1.81 million they were at just under 60% capacity per game. Not great, but certainly not under the category of "no one goes to Pirates games". It's not like Montreal's 2004 of 748,550, good for 21%
  17. It's a beautiful park, they draw 2 million+ fans a year, and yet they just dont' put a goot product on the field. It really is a shame.
  18. Apparently there are a lot of Monster Truck fans here
  19. i edited the first post. I'll start doing the "recaps" for each matchup.
  20. I agree. Maybe if we say it enough times it will finally come true
  21. (1) The Beatles: - ROUND 1 - Defeated (16) Megadeth 68-13 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (9) Smashing Pumpkins 52-28 (4) AC/DC: - ROUND 1 - Defeated (13) Faith No More 60-16 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (5) The Ramones 53-14
  22. Wrong. They are more than willing to cough up nearly $100 million, it's their lousy GM and President who don't know how to spend it.
  23. You forgot the option "On another team"
  24. no, Grateful Dead. But I like them about as much as Bolton
  25. Because Bruce is: O-VER RA-TED clap-clap-clapclapclap
