  1. Hendrix mounting a comeback
  2. well the worst part of Izturis is that Baker will bat him 1st or 2nd all next year.
  3. It wasn't good, but looking at all the deals of the day, it was definitely a buyer's market. None of the sellers got anything close to top prospects for anyone.
  4. Nirvana's going to need a late rally. I don't see it happening though.
  5. Interesting. Another band I've underseeded. Had no idea that the Doors could possibly make it to the Elite 8.
  6. from the look of his numbers, I'd say that just about everyone has sucked against Webb
  7. FYI, this is the last of the Sweet 16 matchups
  8. (2) Jimi Hendrix Experience: - ROUND 1 - Defeated (15) Slayer 55-12 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (10) REM 56-25 (6) The Doors: - ROUND 1 - Defeated (11) Sonic Youth 72-10 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (14) CCR 51-33
  9. I'm about 10 years too young to have grown up with The Who, and while I recognize their place in rock history, Nirvana more fully impacted my views on music. I remember seeing the video for "Smell Like Teen Spirit" on Headbanger's Ball in 1991 (when Cobain was wearing the yellow gown..."I was told this was to be a ball, so I dressed appropriately"). I was completely blown away. I knew after hearing that song once that this band was going to be huge.
  10. (2) The Who def. (15) Dream Theater 67-8 def. (10) Genesis 57-10 (3) Nirvana def. (14) Allman Brothers 45-25 def. (6) Cream 45-34
  11. Not as much as the Beatles or Led Zeppelin... I don't know what your thoughts are, I'm just putting it out there. You must be joking. If Cliff Burton-era Metallica can be called over-rated, than so can the Beatles and Zeppelin. I'll agree 90's and later Metallica is nothing special, but the first Metallica 3 records are as much masterpieces as any Zep or Beatles recordings. Uhh, sorry, but no. Nothing Metallica has ever done can compare to Revolver or Rubber Soul in the "masterpiece" category. For that matter, nothing they've done can compare to Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, Abbey Road... well if you need to be picky, I'd say that Master of Puppets is the best heavy metal record ever made. If you don't want to put it up with beatles stuff, fine, but it's definitely one of the best records ever made
  12. they showed a graphic on Sportscenter of his last 3 starts. 1 ER in 21 2/3 innings for an ERA of like 0.42. At least we have Rusch!
  13. (2) Black Sabbath: - def. (15) Santana 43-29 - def. (7) CSNY 52-28 (3) Queen - def. (14) Rage Against the Machine 50-20 - def. (11) Lynyrd Skynyrd 50-33
  14. I sure hope so. The "New Song": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieHXwXhOZCQ&mode=related&search=new%20metallica%20song
  15. I haven't read word one about Chicago's plans for the Olympics besides the fact that they made the final 3 for consideration. That's why I'm curious. Plus, another 10 years from now and Wrigley will be over 100 years old. At some point it's going to become unusable (sad as it is to say)
  16. and............this thread has become useless.
  17. Baseball is no longer an Olympic sport. Why would they be building a new baseball stadium? In Atlanta and Montreal they converted the main Olympic stadium into a baseball park. Turner Field was Olympic Stadium in ATL
  18. a little slow on the uptake, but finally available. Honestly, I don't know how much of this was Metallica being stubborn vs. their management company (Q-prime) holding them back. RHCP is also a Q-prime band and their stuff was not available either.
  19. .....will we see the Cubs move to that stadium shortly thereafter?
  20. Metallica deserves to win because they don't have any band members with stupid fake stage names
  21. If this was the "Pseudo-Reggae Slightly Smarmy Too Smart For their Own Good British 80's Band" Tournament, the Police would win by a mile. But since it's not, Metallica should kill them. Of course that's not how it's turning out...
  22. Rick Rubin will make Metallica awesome again
  23. Marquis has a horrible ERA, yet is 5 games over .500. Looks like the bats come alive when he pitches. Pujols the first to hit 3 grand slams in the first inning of a game?
