  1. At least some have stuck in the majors. Baylor and Riggleman both held coaching positions with big league clubs. Riggs even had interviews for a few managerial openings (Seattle for one if I remember correctly). Riggs is now a minor league scout or instructor or some such thing for the Cardinals. I saw him on Opening Day for the Spikes this year.
  2. (2) Metallica - ROUND 1 - Defeated (15) Phish 48-22 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (7 ) The Clash 45-36 (6) The Police: - ROUND 1 - Defeated (11) Jane's Addiction 52-29 - ROUND 2 - Defeated (3) The Eagles 42-41
  3. I seriously don't get Rich Hill. Is he a head case? How can someone be so great at one level and completely and utterly fall apart at the next? I mean, zero flashes of what got him here. None. I have never seen Hill do anything but throw balls or BP pitches.
  4. Abreu a power hitter? Tell that to my HR Derby team :x
  5. I like it when Derwood doesn't post in my game threads. maybe if your avatar was that new UCLA recruit getting his skin pulled off.... btw, 4 pages in the Game Thread before the game has started? When did people start caring again?
  6. What a spectacularly lame list. Barry Bonds? They even admit he hasn't been caught, so why is he on the list? WTF?

  8. shut your pie hole
  9. Radiohead being ranked "too high" should have helped them, as they would supposedly have gone against a lesser opponent. I still don't think CCR is better than any of the bands ranked ahead of them. mothers of invention, bon jovi, sonic youth, def leppard, KISS seem to be the obvious ones i'll give you Mothers of Invention. Why I thought they should be in there at all now escapes me. KISS has an enormous legion of fans (not here apparently) and the others are borderline. I still think CCR is, at best, terribly average

  11. We have our fair share of Cards fans who contribute here, plus at least one Pirates fan and, most recently, a Royals fan (yes, they do exist). I'm just wondering if anyone here (speaking to Cubs fans only) actively participates on message boards of rival teams.
  12. I always like college football better. But I'm not sure if I'll make it to a PSU game this year. The stadium is just 3 miles down the road, but ticket prices are ludicrous these days. We're talking nearly $50 a seat. The Michigan game (which is primetime this year) has been sold out for weeks. I'm sure I could get a cheap ticket to the riveting Youngstown State showdown....

is camp still in BEARBounaiss? I used to listed to the Score guys when they were down there, but I don't think any athletes give them the time of day anymore.
  14. I was just going to say that the way the standings look now, a "Go Twins" thread seems more appropriate. Then again, the goings on of the AL Central have little to no effect on my everyday life, so why bother?
  15. My favorite Kinks song is one that I've never heard the Kinks' version of. There was a short-lived Chicago band called Mystery Driver who performed a cover of "Got My Feet on the Ground" by the Kinks. It was a great tune (and the only reason I bought Mystery Driver's CD). I'm sure I could download the original somewhere, but I can't imagine it's as good as the cover.
  16. Thus begins my campaign to always vote against the Stones. They never really did it for me, and the personalities in the band are, at the very least, totally obnoxious. I like "Paint it Black" and "The Last Time" now and then, but otherwise, I have no use for them.
  17. Some of the blame is clearly on me as I had zero idea that CCR was so damn popular. I seriously didn't. I certainly know their songs, but they were never anything more than a 2nd or 3rd tier classic rock band to me. Perhaps living my entire live north of the Mason-Dixon line has skewed my views of music  I don't think I underrated Radiohead. They are one of my Top 5 favorite bands ever, but considering the competition, would have a tough time cracking a #2 seed.
