slightly off topic, but I'm new to Premium and when I tried sorting the member list by total posts, it listed 9999, before 10000 because it apparently goes by first numbers? The list looks something like this: 999 98 9873 984 9774 97 9664 and so on.

I am rooting for two things the remainder of the season: 1) For Penn State to win 2) For a huge BCS cluster-hump. I would love to see either a) 4 or 5 undefeated teams at year's end, resulting in teams that were ranked lower in the preseason to get pissed for being in a situation not of their own making or b) every team has 1 loss and everyone gets pissed again. The only way to fix this stupid system is for there to be no clear cut National Title game every year

yes, I think it's commonly accepted that this is the worst contract in baseball right now. Adrian Beltre's isn't great, but he put up halfway decent numbers by year's end. I think Hampton and Wood did about the least for their money this year.

College Basketball has the greatest playoff system in the history of the universe. I grew up on college football (having lived <1 mile from Beaver Stadium). I gave it to college.

I really don't care too much, but I think the A's winning would accomplish two things: 1 - Give Frank Thomas his ring (and a big F You to Kenny Williams) 2 - It might shut the Billy Beane detractors up for like 5 minutes

I haven't checked, but I think that the PSU vs. Minnesota game is now officially back on for this Saturday (since the Twins won the division instead of the wildcard).

i was in cincy today and watched the first 1/2 of the PSU game. Man did they look bad. Glad to see they woke up a bit in the 3rd quarter, but man, i like Morelli less and less every game. Tony Hunt is all this team's got right now

They clearly didn't ruin him permanently. In just 6 more AB's in 2006 (than 2005), he has: - 27 more runs - 30 more hits - 3 more HR - 19 more RBI - 26 fewer K's - 29 more SB's - 63 more points in Avg - 62 more points in OBP - 98 more points in SLG Overall, 2006 statline is .278/.316/.446, 16 HR, 53 RBI, 74 R, 44 SB. Not knocking the cover off the ball, but certainly a good rebound year -
I know we're only 1/3 of the way in, but Northwestern is a "must win" game for PSU, especially at home. I didn't think the Nittany Lions would be spectacular this year...pegged tham at 8-4 with a chance at a New Year's Day game (Citrus, Outback, etc.) and they've won and lost the games I thought they would so far. That said, they haven't looked good in either win, and looked horrible against ND. Their defense should be enough against the bottom feeders of the Big 10, but now 8 wins isn't so certain. They ought to beat NU, Illinois and Temple, so that's 5 wins. They'll probably lose to Michigan at home, so that's a 3rd loss. The uncertain games are Minnesota on the road, Michigan St. (at home I think), plus Purdue. btw, Minnesota game may be moved to Thanksgiving weekend if the Twins make the playoffs, as that would create a schedule conflict at the HHH
