  1. I guess Cy Young shouldn't be left off the list, but his wins record is just not fair. No one is going to pitch 60 times a year from 50 feet away anymore (against hitters who are full time shoe salesmen who play baseball for 50 cents a week)
  2. Which clearly means we're winning the World Series, because, as we all know, chemistry begets winning, not the other way around, as some of you "statisticians" and "scientists" and "sabermetricians" who always insist on "empirical evidence" and "observable behavior" and "causal relationships" and all that other crap keep claiming. DISCLAIMER: please don't interpret this as as invitation to argue chemistry again. His VORF* is now +2.7 * = Value Over Replacement Father
  3. I don't know anyone who could have defended that final 2-point play. Unless you had a corner blitz from the backside (which you wouldn't, as the WR's were bunched to the right).
  4. Ya. It was back in 2004 when he was a free agent. Paxson and JR secretly flew to LA to talk to him. Also, he apparently was looking into houses and the area schools. Ah, it was that long ago. I caught the discussion midstream and thought it was this year (with the "sign" part being an extension)
  5. I was actually jealous about a few of those plays. Penn State was so fricking predictable on offense this year. I'd love to see a little razzle dazzle now and again
  6. Maybe this was discussed many pages ago, but last week I caught the pregame (or postgame...don't remember) on WGN and a Bulls beat reporter was saying the Paxson and Kobe Bryant had serious talks preseason about a sign and trade type deal to bring him to Chicago. I was surprised that that was the first I'd heard of it.
  7. I wasn't discrediting BSU for running trick plays. I was just saying that it's awfully hard to call defenses against a team is so unconventional. Worked for the Broncos, so kudos to them.
  8. Agreed. And I thought Zabransky came across as annoyingly cocky. I know it was an emotional game and I'm sure there was a lot of euphoria and whatnot, but Ian Johnson handled the question a lot better. Why tease the poor team. "You think you deserve a shot at OSU?" "Definitely, we've proven we beat everyone on our schedule." "Ha ha! Too bad! No title for you! Not yours!"
  9. yes, they are going to SD: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-0612270346dec27,1,644952.story?coll=cs-football-print
  10. I hate sideline reporters. Why would you ask the Boise St. QB "Do you think you deserve a shot at Ohio State?" What's the point? It's not like they are going to get a shot, or that anyone besides Florida is going to get a shot, so this questions is meaningless and does nothing but aggravate the BCS situation (which is fine with me, but not the network's job)
  11. Wow, very tough schedule. Yeah, it's been posted in other Bears threads in a little more detail...which games are home and away... It's certainly tougher than this year without a doubt. yep. I think NO and SD are on the road...
  12. BTW, didn't know if this was posted or not, but the 2007 schedule has been partially announced (teams, not dates) Bears will play: NFC North x2 NFC East AFC West New Orleans Seattle
  13. Can you imagine if some of those games were playoff games? EDIT: Of course they wouldn't have been, as a playoff would have had: OSU vs. BSU UF vs. UWisc UM vs. UL USC vs. LSU
  14. The Chargers are too obvious. I went with the Saints
  15. Maybe Lovie can practice a Hook N' Ladder and Statue of Liberty play for the playoffs
  16. thats the stupidest thing i ever heard in my life i want to die right now, what a hell of a game. Well, how do you defend against a team who hires a 4th grader to draw up plays from the playground?
  17. I hope this is an "Instant Classic" this week, as I missed the 4th quarter
  18. I thought I'd seen every play there was, but that was unbelievable. To call THAT play in THAT situation...wow, talk about being a hero or a goat...
  19. Colt Brennan may come out as well
  20. Well that was very satisfying. First Big 10 win, over a ranked SEC opponent. Great defense, great running, best game of the year for Morelli. Hope they can take this and have a big year in 2007.
  21. Saints vs. Chargers or Saints vs. Baltimore would be fun games. It would either be a score-fest, or it would be the classic "great offense vs. great defense, which one wins" scenario
  22. It's bad news when your own local paper predicts PSU to lose by 7 to the Vols today :(
  23. Wow, the Bengals finished with the same record as the Steelers. ....and the Titans ....and the Packers ....one game ahead of the 49ers
  24. Why? Boone adds veteran experience to a young Marlins club. He also could be that power threat from the right side off the bench for the Marlins. In other words, he's "Jeff Conine 2007"
