  1. I just realized I have no beer and am in a LCB state. I hope some of the pizza places have their bottle shops open today
  2. Alford is doing a hell of a job with your team this year. Probably the best job he's ever done. Too bad nobody around here is noticing. Alford doesn't get noticed unless he's allowing accused sex offenders play on his team (and this is a rare year he isn't) Nothing about that post is remotely close to the truth.

  4. with Tyrus apparently. I don't know why the kid even dresses each game. I know it's tough to work in a raw rookie in a division race, but come playoff time, we'll need TT to be experienced. It's frustrating but in Skiles' defense, Duhon had a nice game
  5. In case anyone locally needed ANOTHER reason (or two) to switch to DirecTV: Adelphia cable was bought out by Comcast. Comcast comes in and changes ALL the channels around. This pisses people off. Now they just announced that on March 6th they are changing them all back. Second, since Comcast hasn't negotiated a deal with WMAJ (local CBS affiliate), no one with Comcast in this area will be able to see the HD broadcast of the Super Bowl tomorrow.
  6. my XXL Zambrano jersey came today.......and it's ludicrously big. It's like a robe. I'm returning it for a Medium Ramirez jersey. I am a skinny ass (only have like a 35 inch chest) so that should be better. I would rather have a Z jersey, but XXL is all they have left :x
  7. And your point is? Obviously local fans can still watch their team, making that claim is absurd, and pointless. The fact is MLB is taking away a previous choice that MLB fans nationwide had. They are limiting options instead of expanding upon them. and as MLB owns the broadcasting rights to it's games, they can do whatever they want. If they only want one person in Wyoming to be able to watch games, that's their choice.
  8. Yes and no. I can't see past the Super Bowl yet, and will have some post-football depression for a bit. We also have College Basketball gearing towards the tourneys and to me that's infinitely more exciting than split squad games against the Mariners.
  9. of course Kerry is wrong. Red Sox fans in the Boston area will get all the games. Fans nationwide will see them a ton, as I'm sure ESPN will broadcast all 19 of the Boston/Yankee games.
  10. If you plan on being or are a DirecTV customer, IMO, go with the EI package. You will be able to see HD baseball on ESPN/ESPN2 and INHD1 (subscription required). MLB.TV is an alternative to those who will not go with DirecTV or want to watch via broadband. So really, all of those other (EI) channels will be standard def. I'm paying $150 to watch tons of standard def baseball. Even in cases where the home team might broadcast in HD, I'll still get standard? Each team will have at least 2 games a week in HD on EI
  11. I simply don't watch the half-time show. I never saw the Janet Jackson thing...think I was restocking the beer fridge at the time
  12. I was pretty exclusively a Penn State football fan until I moved to Chicago for college. I didn't care much for either Philly or Pittsburgh (though this is REALLY a Pittsburgh town NFL-wise) so I feel more allegiance to the Bears than anyone. 13 years living in a city with a team will do that for you.
  13. Um....... http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000GKLVB6.01-AVRR6WAP2O9Z1._SCMZZZZZZZ_V64588193_.jpg http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000B9E35S.01-AVRR6WAP2O9Z1._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
  14. sure, they just need to run on different sets of coaxial cable in your home. as for what cable package you'd need to get EI, I don't know
  15. the DirecTV DVR doesn't bother me at all, but then again, I've never used the Tivo one. I think it's super easy to record. Go to the guide, pick the program, push R. Want the whole season? Push R twice. NOT BRAIN SURGERY As for EI abandoning cable....maybe they realize that DirecTV is the future and that cable is a dying dinosaur. Can't blame them if they want to get with the winning team
  16. The laptop I"m buying has an S-Video outlet so I can plug it directly into my TV
  17. I'm 6'3", 167 lbs. (ie skinny skinny skinny) and I'm going to have an XXL (52) so I'll be swimming in it.
  18. I got an email saying they are now out of XL sized Zambrano jersey's. I reorded an XXL, but now notice that A-Ram jersey's are available in XL. What to do, what to do...
  19. No, they average a little over 2 games a week. I had EI two summers ago, didn't have it last summer. I felt like I saw plenty of games. I dont' have the time to watch every game anymore, so EI isn't worth the $$
  20. That's exactly the case, assuming the deal doesn't fall through at the last minute. It will be just like Sunday Ticket. Everything else will be the same, in terms of getting your local team's games, national telecasts on WGN, TBS, FOX, ESPN, etc. Some here are suggesting MLB.tv as an alternative. Well, that sucks big time. Here in NW Louisiana - all we get is WGN, which is only good for a game a week. I loved being able to watch the Cubs whenever I had time, not to mention skimming other games to see who was doing what. This is a tremendous disservice to baseball fans, which is what we really have come to expect from Bud Selig and MLB. One game a week? Doesn't WGN show about 1/2 the games? Maybe 70 or so?
  21. no. it'd be similar if every online provider had an email program, then aol one day bought exclusive rights to email, and everyone else was shutout. this isn't a difficult concept. but that's NOT what is going on. If EI was the ONLY way to see ANY baseball, then fine, you have a right to gripe. But the truth is, WGN will still show its games, Comcast will still show its games, etc. DirecTV is not shutting everyone out of watching baseball directTV is shutting out cable subscribers who wanted to watch out of market games. they have only one source to watch out of market games on their tv. how can people defend this? I'm not defending it like it's good, but you don't have any legal "rights" to watch out of market games on your TV. It's a premium service that has chosen to be exclusively with one company. Sorry that upsets you, but there's nothing illegal about it

  23. is it just me, or is this CBB season going by REALLY fast? Teams have played 20+ games already!
  24. Again, Extra Innings is not the only way to see baseball, thus it's not "exclusive". Congress isn't going to do anything about people griping that a premium subscription service is no available only on one system. This would be like saying "I really love AOL's email program and am pissed that I can't get it anywhere else"
  25. I don't really see how people can claim this is a monopoly issue. Yes, DirecTV is the only place to get EI, but it's not at the expense of the games you normally would be able to see on your local system. THey aren't pulling games off of WGN, FoxSPorts or Comcast Sports and putting them on EI. In other words, if your TV provider doesn't carry EI, you're in no worse shape than you would be if EI didn't exist.
