    i'm as big a morelli basher as anyone, but he's been pretty good this year. 8 TD, 1 INT, 63% completion. he can go all grossman on you under pressure, but let's not paint him as some horribly incompetent QB

    They probably won't. But they do care on how much value they will be getting for the Cubs. it just seems that some people are arguing Cuban over Cannings based on what would be best for the team, where the Trib is just going to do what's best for them

    I don't know how much UM will win by but I feel pretty confident saying they will beat Penn State. based on? I don't think Penn State is very good, UM has the better starting QB and offense in general, and the game is at the Big House. i think this year proves that being at the Big House has little to no effect on the game

    I think any team that goes 12-0, unless it like a Hawaii situation, deserves some kudos because it's a tough thing to do. the question is would a 0 loss Penn State team going to have a better case than one loss LSU and one loss UF teams? The answer is probably not. in the current system, absolutely. undefeated trumps one loss just about every time (when talking about BCS conference teams)

    i'm not sure why anyone here thinks that the Trib really cares what the new ownership group will do with the team once it's sold.

    the usual: Rose: Big 10 champ vs. Pac 10 champ Orange: ACC champ vs. At Large Fiesta: Big 12 champ vs. At Large Sugar: SEC champ vs. At Large Big East is the only BCS conference that doesn't "host" a BCS bowl game, and, of course, if the #1 and #2 teams in the country are conference champs, then more at-larges will get into these 4 bowls

    We've got a lead in the division and what should(Key word)be a cake-walk schedule the rest of the way. Oh yeah, and it's mid september. I think it's about time that we can start talking about this stuff. with a one game lead and a week of games against teams we haven't been able to beat much?

    regardless, the Cubs are tied for 4th in the majors in team WHIP, so the walks aren't skewing anything

    Probably. Blame the system. When you make point differential & strength of schedule count for so much in the rankings, it's really no wonder that fans start taking it into account when talking smack. Until there's a valid playoff system (probably never), such is NCAA Div 1-A football. I really hope that after the regular season/Champ games are over there are 4 undefeated teams. and that after the bowl games there are still 3

Until there's a valid playoff system (probably never), such is NCAA Div 1-A football. i'm pretty sure that point differential is out of the computer rankings in the BCS, but it certainly influences the department secretaries who fill out the Coaches Poll ballots

    i think if PSU went 12-0, people would still say they're no good because Wisconsin didn't destroy The Citadel and OSU only beat Akron by 18.

    yeah, but think how awesome it would be to see soto hit 400/500/700 at AAA for a full season. after a season like that, he'd almost certainly be a lock to be a backup for the major league team. or packaged with Pie and Murton for a 39 year old right fielder

    Yes, because the polls are perfect. or because they're all 3-0 (as well as Purdue, Illinois and Indiana, all un-ranked).
