  1. Assuming the Mets lose, a Rockies win + a Padres loss results in a one game playoff on Monday between the Padres and Rockies. THIS. Padres doing their best to try to blow it
  2. let's be honest... Syracuse is awful, Western Illinois is a decent I-AA team, but not that good, and Indiana is barely average to say nothing of the rapidly sinking ship that is Penn State
  3. isn't Rollins the first player ever (or in 100 years) with 20+ HR, Doubles, Triples and Steals?
  4. i fell out of love with baseball when i moved away from Wisconsin (the 1982 Brewers were my favorite team ever). I didn't watch much baseball at all between 1986 and 1992, but when I moved from State College to Chicago to go to DePaul, a friend of mine freshmen year got me back into it. First, the proximity of Wrigley and second, fantasy baseball.
  5. for the love of christ, just win Penn State. Iowa and Temple are the only games I feel even remotely confident this team can beat this year (since they still have O$U, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan State and Purdue)
  6. Across baseball, home runs are WAY down: AL Leaders A-Rod - 54 C. Pena - 45 D. Ortiz - 35 J. Thome - 35 P. Konerko - 31 J. Morneau - 31 NL Leaders P. Fielder - 50 R. Howard - 46 A. Dunn - 40 M. Holliday - 36 R. Braun/L. Berkman/M. Cabrera - 34 Only 5 players in all of MLB with 40+ this year. Only 6 in the AL with 30+ So, why? Crackdown on PEDs? Altered baseballs?
  7. the Reds announcers are balls
  8. wow, deadest game thread ever
  9. huh, Marquis in relief?
  10. i have a pretty good shot at winning the Predictions again. can't wait to see the final scores
  11. We need to have a playoff. As many as 8 teams every year should be in contention for the national championship every year. Also why is Wisonsin and top 5 team and not Ohio State? They have exactly the same credentials. because pre-season polls are stupid, that's why
  12. So, let me see if I understand this. If the Mets pull off a huge comeback and the Phillies and Rockies win and SD loses, then there's a 4-team playoff. And if either the Mets or Phillies got the WC, then the Cubs would play the division winner? I would think that would be the best possible scenario because of the extra games they'd have to play. the Mets are certainly making a mockery of all this. Tim Kurkjian is crying somewhere
  13. If SD wins today then nothing else matters for the Cubs. Even if the Mets and Phillies have to play a one game playoff it has no impact on the Cubs schedule. The only way it would is if the loser of that playoff is still in contention for the wild card and a SD win eliminates that possibility. yes, you are correct. my mistake.
  14. right. the "easiest" way to decide all this is for SD to win today and either NY or PHI (but not both) lose. Then we'd play ARZ on wednesday and there would be no tie-breakers
  15. they may not know who they play for a few days though
  16. Depending on what happens, however, we may still play Arizona, which would still start our series on Wednesday, right? The only scenario in which we wouldn't play Arizona is if both the Mets and Phillies get into the playoffs
  17. This is the year I've been hoping for.....I want to see ZERO undefeated teams this year and huge amounts of controversy in the BCS. That, or have the only two undefeated teams be, say, Hawaii and South Florida or something. I think there is a very real possibility that USC and LSU lose here sometime soon.
  18. if the Phillies win the NL East, Charlie Manuel will get votes for NL Manager
  19. As per Tim Kurkjian: IF the Mets, Phillies and Rockies win AND the Padres lose today, we will have four teams finish at 89-73. On Monday, the Mets would play the Phillies in a one-game playoff for the NL East Champion The Rockies, who won coin-flips, can opt to either play 2 games at home, or skip the first game and play the 2nd game on the road. If the Rockies choose to play 2 at home, they would play San Diego at home on Tuesday and then, if they win, play the loser of Mets/Phillies on Wednesday. If the Rockies choose the bye, then the Padres would play the loser of Mets/Phillies, with the winner hosting Colorado on Wednesday. Any questions?
  20. i totally missed the Saturday game, but was thrilled to see that the lineup was as ludicrous as i'd hoped
  21. Is there a problem with me having a sig of an AB album cover?? no, no, they're totally awesome.
  22. i hate the fact that the Big 10 is shaping up for OSU to win
  23. nothing, your sig says it all
  24. ha ha ha. DIE FLORIDA DIE!
