I wasn't commenting on the fist pump though. I'm only talking about the point to the sky right before he goes into the dugout. i think he knows it gets him on TV. i have no problem with him thanking God, but let's not pretend that genuflecting in front of TV cameras and 40,000 people isn't for show I dont think it necessarily is. If he really wanted to make a spectacle out of it he could do it when he was atop the mound; but he doesnt. He does it one step away from the dugout, or if nothing else when he is crossing the foul line. You can say "well why doesn't he do it in the dugout, then." Well, most likely because you can't see the sky in the dugout, and that's the whole point of what he's doing. agree to disagree then. i'm sure there a great many ballplayers who quietly thank god or say a prayer without making a big deal out of it.
