  1. Notre Dame benches Clausen for Sharpley this week (as per ESPN Bottom Line)
  2. i'm happy for Todd Helton
  3. again, i think naming names is going to damn the league an union more than the players. the only way they can name names is if a) the player(s) fessed up to Mitchell, b) they have records of positive test results from the playing days of the player(s) and/or c) they have testimony from those who provided the drugs (which seems to be the least reliable). If there are test results, that's a huge problem for the league, as it would come to light that positive tests for steroids were ignored.
  4. He was pretty good with the Cards. true, 110 ERA+, 1.2 WHIP. Really think that will last?
  5. it's clear that it's impossible to make an objective assessment on a player who you know personally
  6. i can't believe this thread is still going on.
  7. that, or have no one without a loss and add even more teams to the mix
  8. expand the roster, lose the DH. Or, get this, don't have players who can't field!
  9. Meredith? Phyllis? don't qualify as "hittable"
  10. oh, nevermind, i understand why this won't happen now. /loose lips sink ships
  11. and because they are michigan. I don't care because I think ratings are ridiculous (how is Oregon now ahead of Cal?) but I do think Michigan gets bias. Oregon lost by 7 at home to a very good Cal team. Cal lost at home by 3 to an average Oregon State team. Cal's loss is much worse than Oregon's is. EDIT: Let me add that I do understand the other side of the argument - that Cal beat Oregon - and that I'm torn on which way I would rank them. I was just making an argument for putting Oregon ahead of Cal. right, one could say "Oregon lost to a Cal team that lost to a mediocre Oregon State team", which hurts Oregon
  12. Are those all Nike schools? maybe, but Penn State is a Nike school too
  13. if i learned nothing else this past week, it's that the Pac 10 has the hands down ugliest set of school uniforms ever. Oregon will always be worst, but Cal's were atrocious, USC's look like Jr. High uni's, Washington State's all-reds look like pajamas....FTH are the designers thinking?
  14. isn't this argument about cedeno vs. theriot really just arguing whether you prefer your poop the smell of dog poop or cow poop?
  15. the maurice clarett team was completely uninspiring too, they won every game by about 3 points and were given major scares by mediocre teams like Purdue, Illinois and Cincinnati. Then they made the national championship game, did next to nothing on offense all game, and were saved by a bogus pass interference call. but yeah this team is even less inspiring than that one. I don't even necessarily mean on a performance level, but just in terms of excitement. Boeckman and thirteen running backs? Just on a national level, they're boring as hell. they have two (dubiously) "quality" wins (Washington, Purdue) and then wins over several piles of crap. Their second half schedule is brutal (Wisconsin, PSU, Michigan, Michigan State and someone else). They'll lose
  16. i don't remember my kids' names anymore
  17. i'm guessing PSU may be ranked this week, but i guess we'll see
  18. The only reason that I wouldn't do that is that if you put OSU behind Oklahoma and LSU now, they wouldn't move ahead of them if everyone won out. Considering they have Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan left, if OSU wins out they deserve to be in the national title game over a 1 loss LSU or a 1 loss Oklahoma. then jump them ahead if/when they beat a good team Put USF at number 1. They've beaten Auburn on the road and West Virginia. They probably deserve it more so than any of those three unbeatens. yeah, maybe, but again, do you think they could beat Oklahoma or LSU? It's a tough year to be a pollster. I'm still hoping KU, USF, OSU, etc. lose a game so it's a gigantic cluster-hump by year's end. too bad it won't result in a playoffs That is not how the polls have ever worked. It has never been who do you think would beat who. Also if all 3 of those teams lose it wont be a cluster. It will be exactly who everyone thought at the beginning to the year. LSU, USC and Oklahoma if those teams win out. no to USC. bad loss, barely won this past week. they aren't that good

  21. they got some good fishin' in Cincy?
  22. I'm gonna be pissed when OSU is the #1 team. They've played NO ONE. NO ONE!! I would put Oklahoma ahead of OSU. Heck, i'd put LSU there too.
  23. if they want depth, they're gonna want at least 3 prospects, probably 2 of which are major league level
