  1. I agree it can be unfair but all others have a type of playoff as well. I'd rather have to earn a spot in the playoffs than some voter having a say that has an agenda. agreed. i've always been pro-playoff
  2. That doesn't happen anymore, guy. That's exactly my point. I wouldn't pay ANYONE playing today that kind of money. I bet you'd pay zombie Ty Cobb that kinda scratch. ....perhaps...Cobb's best year v. A-Rod's best year. .420/.467/.620, 196 OPS+, 127rbi, 83sb >> .314/.422/.645, 177 OPS+, 156 rbi, 24 sb oh, not this **** again
  3. neat anyways, voters are idiots and don't look at anything you look at, so your point is null and void. voters look at "what have you done for me lately". voters put South Florida #2. we both know LSU played a harder schedule. and we both know it wouldn't matter at all if OSU happened to lose in Week 5 while LSU lost their last regular season game. South Florida got that ranking due to beating some good teams. Funny how Ohio State got the #1 ranking by playing a by far worse schedule but that was ok since they have a big time name. It looks to me that the Big 12 will have a rep in the BCS Champ game no matter how it falls. It's going to take WV to keep winning and a LSU loss for them to get a shot. yeah, OSU got some "we know who they are" votes for sure. I'm not arguing that Meph is wrong in his observations, only that his observations are not how the voting works right now. Saying LSU deserves to be #1 over OSU because the have a statistical x% chance of running the table with their schedule is analogous to saying Troy Tulowitzki deserved ROY over Ryan Braun because he had a higher WARP3. it's true, but it's not in any way what the idiot voters are basing their highly subjective opinions on If meph's way were always right we wouldn't watch the games like we do. Did he have Arizona beating Oregon? Is Oregon a better team? Yes. That to me is the best part of this game is that the teams that do the best, should be the ones on top. Granted, playing 4 patsies and then having a conference that is down gives a lesser team an advantage but I think some teams have been trying to rectify that but you get the surprise teams like Rutgers last year and Kansas this year that played a poor OOC schedule but they still had/have to win their conferences, Rutgers didn't and we'll see how Kansas does. I have no problem with Kansas going to the big game if they win over Iowa St, Mizzou, and Oklahoma (if they are the team that wins the south) sports isn't fair though. Is it fair that the Giants would be the wildcard at 6-3 while the Seahawks would be a division winner (and host a playoff game) at 5-4?
  4. by (my) definition: - one team can't have more than one "rivalry" because you can't have more than one "biggest game of the year" - a rivalry has to the biggest game of the year for BOTH teams, not just one - the results of the game have to be of some consequence outside of the game This disqualifies USC/ND, Army/Navy, etc. I voted for Michigan/OSU (little eleven bias LOL!!1!ONE) The teams hate each other, it's the "big game" for both schools, and it seems to always have an effect on the Big Ten championship and/or the National Title picture.
  5. i'm just glad it's not kermit anymore
  6. Here we go again. People are free to discuss whatever trades they'd like to see. You do NOT tell people to stop discussing things. he just did ;)
  7. Penn State battles the mighty Canisius squad tonight.

  9. i wouldn't be surprised at all if Bonds served some time. he is so detached from reality that he probably thinks he can still lie to everyone without recourse. the man doesn't have a speck of contrition in his entire body

  11. ha ha ha, right. if I were a GM and you wanted 8 of my players for 2 of yours, I would laugh at you, hang up, then call you back to laugh at you some more
  12. First base, apparently. who was playing first last year?
  13. Are you really saying that if LSU played OSU's schedule, LSU wouldn't play in NOLA? OSU's schedule was tougher? Please tell me you're kidding? Or you trying to suggest that tOSU's schedule wouldn't be strong enough to get them there? This HAS to be what you're trying to suggest, right? Surely, I've got to be misunderstanding what you're trying to say. i was unclear. I meant that if LSU lost in Week 11 instead of 7 that they would be out of the NC hunt right now.
  14. where the hell is Lowell going to play on the Yankees?
  15. I don't know if that's a hard and fast rule, but I think it's already generally observed. Last year KU was 6-6, and everybody knew there was almost no chance they'd go to a bowl because, while eligible, there were too many 7-5 teams out there. Bowls must select teams with winning records before they can select a 6-6 team. I'm pretty sure that it includes 6-5 teams. If a conference doesn't have enough bowl-eligible teams for their tie-ins, then a bowl must select a team outside of the conference with a winning record before they can select a team outside of the conference with a 6-6 record. Hence why a 7-5 Ball State team might sneak into a bowl game even if they don't get a MAC tie-in, just as Northern Illinois did last season. LSU will play for the NC because they lost in Week 7 and OSU won't because they lost in Week 11. Reverse the schedules and there is no way LSU plays in NOLA
  16. that brings up a good point. if more teams are playing 12 game schedules, they should increase the # of wins for bowl eligibility to 7 and reduce the # of bowls. Or, if there is a disparity with 11 and 12 game schedules, the requirement should be "a winning record"
  17. i think i called this a few weeks ago. gotta get those old, ex-Brewer lefties into your lineup whenever you can
  18. i want to throw another pitch out there for a playoff. It looks very likely that we'll have a pair of one-loss teams in the BCS Championship game, but the teams there won't be based on who they lost to, but when they lost. that's crap. i love me some college football, but so much about is totally broken
  19. pssst adblock plus on firefox blocks all the google ads. pass it on
  20. LeBron who?
  21. this move affects me 0%. he's still not in our league, i never thought he would ever come here, so this is non-news.
  22. I won't beleive he is out of New York, until he signs or they sign another3B. BorA$$ will always go back to the Yankees for one last shot. But I read a report where A-Rod has said he would like to go to Boston. Boras isn't part of the negotiations. A-Rod is using a 3rd party
