  2. this is all so stupid. do any of you honestly believe that an entire team of professional athletes, men who have spent their entire lives competing and wanting to win, have suddenly decided, "you know, eff this, let's just pack it up and play golf"? listen, I know the team has played like Howry the past two days, but let's not pretend the team doesn't care or lacks motivation. they've played two bad baseball games, period. It happens.
  3. A) There aren't many Braves fans left. B) Braves fans saw a hell of a lot more playoff wins than Cubs fans, including World Series wins. Stupid comparison. I just was going to post the same thing. There's no comparison. the point is that the Cubs are built to keep winning in the regular season. There is a great chance they win the division again next year. I'll take a run of division titles and try our luck in the post season. The Braves didn't make it to the World Series in their last 6 playoff appearances. If we won 6 divisions in a row but didn't win it all would we all be crying like babies?
  4. I'm seriously considering not watching this game at all. I'm sure I'll weaken though...
  5. if Atlanta Braves were as suicidal about playoff losses as you guys are there wouldn't be any Braves fans left
  6. For those of you who feared that 2008 would be a repeat of 2007, good news....it's not. Bad news: it's worse

  8. well, i need to be up in 6 1/2 hours. later
  9. Why should we be cordial to a ---SOAPDROPPING--- Brewer fan on here talking Howry about the Cubs at this point? as I said, I didn't read it all. guess that explains that
  10. I'm not going to read this entire thread to see where Ender trolled, but there are plenty of people being a-holes in here
  11. no, no, no....bring THIS sign to Chavez Ravine: http://wayneandwax.com/wp/images/D-fence.jpg
  12. I can say unequivocally that I have never seen a team play as tight as the Chicago Cubs have the past 5 playoff games
  13. I made a comment in the game chat last night that TBS has the sound level really low on the crowd noise (compared to WGN/Comcast). I think that was part of the reason it seemed dead (pre-5th inning). My guess is that with all the criticism about the crowd today that tonight's crowd will be a bit more lively. That, and the fact that the crowd will have had a few hours to drink before the game instead of coming straight from work
  14. I love that the guy from CBS who was there with him did nothing but stare at him like "you've got to be kidding me"
  15. I think we need Z to be both good AND emotional. Last night's game was listless. I also think we need Soriano to do well. Many players say that as Soriano goes, the offense goes. The problem with this is that Soriano is one of the least emotional players I've seen on the Cubs. While he shows some spark when he plays well, he never seems to care when he doesn't. I'm sure he's never happy to strike out, but I'd like to see some frustration. I want to see that he cares. Maybe that's not his style, but if the offense takes Soriano's lead, then the conciliatory attitude Soriano displays when he fails seems to rub off on the rest of the team.
  16. I don't think a single person got a point on "Rich Hill's K's" and most people grossly underestimated Dempster's IP
  17. To be fair, he made that remark before we were losing. he also made it afterwards. But his point was valid. You can jump all over him all you want, but give him credit when he's right. his one game sample size of "US Cellular Field madness" is pretty accurate I think
  18. why would the bullpen not even start until Dempster was at 95 pitches and 6 BB's?
  19. No, it's not. if you win, you can go .500 and win the series if you lose, you have to go .750 to win the series it's close to must win
  20. Cubs don't have the pieces to move for him. That won't stop a dozen people here to offer Cedeno, Hoffpauir, Wuertz and Veal
