You poor Penn State fans, always with the little guy syndrome. It's okay, Penn State will be good one of these years. I'd wager a bet that PSU wins more games than UM this year. I think the team that wins the PSU/Mich game will have 1 more win. Since there is about as much mystery in the winner of that game as there is in the OSU/Michigan game, I will take that wager I don't have much confidence in either team to be honest

i see what you're saying. The point of it all was just that this Cubs offense is probably the most evenly balanced I've ever seen and it's exciting to see that Soto and DeRosa are way above expectations and that two CF's that Hendry picked off the scrap heap have had positive contributions (and made us forget about Pie for awhile) my intention wasn't to misinform

:shock: What are you using to project that number? Edmonds/Johnson aren't one player. They have played at the same time. Combined, Cubs CF have 87 RBI this season, which is on pace for 108 RBI for the season. just going by ESPN.com's projection that Edmonds will have 65 and Johnson will have 62. I realized they've had overlap You shouldn't then say that Cubs CF are on pace for 127 RBI. Technically, I didn't. I said that Edmonds and Johnson combined are on pace for 127. None of the other positions are played exclusively by the players I listed either. It's just semantics

it's pretty close. Dempster has had just one game with 5 ER or more while Zambrano has had just 2. If you move to include 4 ER, Dempster has done it 4 times and Zambrano 5. that said, Dempster has more K's, less hits, and less HR's than Z this year.

We should just make all the crappy teams send their best American players. We could have quite a team. Why doesn't it embody the spirit of the Olympics? Is it because they are professionals and not amateurs? no, because there are clearly professionals in other sports. it's one of those hard to define things. let's put it this way: I enjoy the parts of the Olympics that involve people who have sacrificed a lot, defied the odds, etc., etc. to get to where they are. I enjoy seeing underdogs win. I enjoy the outpour of emotion from those who overcame the odds and won a medal when no one thought they could. If the U.S. wins the gold in Men's Basketball, that's fine, but it wouldn't fulfill anything I associate with the Olympics. Just out of curiosity, did you enjoy watching Michael Phelps? I did, and I realize that he was the favorite in every race. I think Phelps would have been less interesting if he had one every race by 2 lengths. The close races made it exciting. He was also attempting something unprecedented in Olympic history. Question for you guys: Have you enjoyed Olympic baseball this year with the current US team, or would it be better with an All-Star squad of major leaguers?

I'm sure his concern wasn't terribly deep; he'll take a win however he can get it.
