  1. Hopefull this was done to free money for Fukudome and allow Pie to be the starting CF.
  2. These guys are way ahead of you (NSFW band name) Classic! I am definately giving a listen.
  3. A-Rod was going to "give up" 5M over the last 7 years to get out of Texas and go to Boston. He did not give up anything other than his position to come to New York.
  4. Yeah. Stop smoking weed so you can take some of these greenies and play. It isn't a problem until it affects your work. And him getting caught so often is a sign of trouble. While it is not the worst thing he could ne doing, it is in his contract. Similar to riding a motorcycle or playing pick-up basketball. Really not a big deal until you get caught and it voids your contract.
  5. Didn't NWA take care of this topic in the late 80's with the release of -- efil4zaggin ? Nas has never really been one to try shock value to get pub. before, so I don't see that. Misguided, maybe. But as Carlin says, it is just a word. I wish I was someone would name their album Sea unt, that would be great shock value.
  6. i'm pretty sure A-Rod ends up with the Angels. It's a good team, and the media scrutiny is like 5% of NYC Plus a billionare Latino owner in a heavy latin market. Angels are the best fit for A-rod. But since when has Boras ever put his client in the best place for them? Kevin Millwood, Jeff weaver, and now ever Kenny Rogers all left places they were comfortable for the money. A-Rod does not care about where he plays, he is in it for the contract status. Plus Moreno has said it does not make good business sense to put 20-25% of the payroll into one player. While I think A-Rod would bring the Angels twice what they pay him in revenue, will they go 10 years on a contract? How can you say A-Rod doesn't care where he plays? If this were all about money, he'd have signed a huge contract already with the richest team in baseball, who also enjoyed a $72 million subsidy for his services. Boras knows this, and since all Boras wants is money for A-Rod, it seems that A-Rod overruled Boras. Now, if you made the argument that A-Rod only cared about staying away from New York, I'd buy that. The Yankees asked to meet with him to offer a reported 5yr 150 million extention. It wasn't enough according to Boras. If he cared where he played, why did he go to Texas in the first palce? He loves Lou Piniella, he should have stayed in Seattle with Lou and that team. He went to Texas for the money. I absolutely refuse to believe he walked away from the richest team in baseball in search of more money, when this richest team in baseball had $72 million free dollars with which to negotiate. $72 million? I'm lost. I thought Texas only had close to 27 million owed to ARod? No Boras client has ever not opted out when they had the opportunity. J.D. Drew is a perfect example last year. And we all knew he was going to Boston before he opted out. I hope ARod doesn't get more money then he did from Texas (10/252), but I have no doubt that that is exactly what he and Boras plan on trying to get. A-Rod had 81 Million (27 from Texas) left on his deal. The Yankees asked to meet and discuss an extension of 5/150. That means BorA$$ did not feel that 8/231 was not enough to keep the 10 day negotiating window open and opted out. He will always opt out and go where the money is. Sometimes this works (I-Rod to Detroit) and sometimes it doesn't (Weaver to Seattle).
  7. I wish I could take the under, but I just write like I talk. Sorry for getting to excited, I'll calm down. I can laugh at myself.
  8. And sign with the Cubs Tuesday we could never be so lucky Yeah, it would take until at least wednesday for Hendry to get off his arse and call the agent. But isn't it already monday in Japan?
  9. Hey Tim, Those are not my picks! Not even close
  10. Players should not be allowed to do that. Ichiro started that, I hate it. Are you trying to be offensive, or just don't know any better? How is using his name offensive? He should not be ashamed of his name. I have a funny last name and I took a lot of crap for it, but I am still proud of my name. And I did say that I can see that in his case, but it should not be a trend. At least he is not being Brazilian and trying to have a one word name :-) Brazilians HAVE to use first names because 80% of them have the last name, De Olivera! Plus how can you be against cheering for a man named--KAKA!
  11. The difference between ARod at $16-20m and ARod at $30m (not sure where you're getting $35-40m from) is $10-14m. Or, if you prefer, Jared Wright or Carl Pavano. That amount of payroll is nothing for your team. If you let ARod go, you're weakening your offense, so you're creating another hole to fill. I'm assuming he means that the contract would be back-loaded so while the average would be $30M a year, the last few years would be more than that. Not only the backloading, but everyone is missing one thing. BorA$$ wanted 350 million to bring A-Rod to the table and BEGIN negotiations! Plus lets say the Yankees give him 35 a year, stright thru the contract. The Yanks are over the tax threshold! That means you add 40-50% tax to that. So It is like paying him 49-52.5 per year! Big difference! The fact is A-Rod will be missed, but he did not want to be here, AND THE YANKEES NEED TO LOWER PAYROLL!
  12. I agree, but an RF upgrade is not that difficult. Really? Guys out OPS over 800 don't grow on trees. Well, it's easy if you have a $200M budget. Technically it is like 240-250, LOL. Don't forget you have to add the luxury tax. And funny when I say The Yanks should lower payroll, peoplejump on me as an A-Rod hater. They forget 35 M was Bora$$' starting point and that means he costs over 50 with tax! I agree the Yanks should pair down and get to 160, maybe stop spending so much on their own crap middle relief!
  13. I agree, but an RF upgrade is not that difficult.
  14. Why is Jackson playing anyway?
  15. Players should not be allowed to do that. Ichiro started that, I hate it. Are you trying to be offensive, or just don't know any better? How is using his name offensive? 16. Wow, Pie in center isn't enough for you? I can see Cedeno at short not being perfect, but he could be part of a package to bring in a RF.
  17. Catcher/ Short/ and CF can be addressed in system if the young players are give a decent shot and time to adjust. Each player needs a month or so not looking over thier shoulder to truely evaluate them. RF is an easy fix, outfielders are available, some with good bats. The offense is respectable. That is why I consider the biggest need bullpen. Relievers are not easy to find. There were many games that I felt uncomfortable in late innings knowing what was coming. While Marmol was phenominal, will he be the same or will teams adjust? Can Wood stay healthy? He sure hasn't to this point. So, in my humble opinion, the pen is the biggest need because it is the hardest to fill, not that they were not good last year.
  18. Maybe World Series MVP?? Can't think of another.
  19. Basketball, football, education, overall. What are we voting on?
  20. I think in this case it can be allowed. The guy's name is FUKUDOME. It's a perfectly normal surname in Japan, not so much here. If the guy wants to head off a possible minor distraction before it starts and just not worry about it, I'm fine with it. I guess.
  21. Big boost to Mizzou's Hopes!! Knocks out OSU and helps their SOS. Big win for Illinois, should help recruiting!!
  22. Jesus people. I am not using W-L to evaluate him. I was using the losses to defend my MAYBE. I know releivers are more than Losses, but he has a lot.
  23. Ha-ha; thanks for the laugh. (Insert missing ROFL smiley here.) No Problem! But I didn't say the ONLY problem. Their pen is at the bottom of their problems. It can all be done in house no moves need to be made except re-signing Wood. Really? Other than Marmol and Wood, who do you trust? Maybe Howry. Dumpster is better as a starter just to get him out of the closer role. Neal cotts excites you? Lou obviously hates Scott Eyre. Howry Marmol Wood--if they resign him Wuertz Thats 3 currently, and possibly 4 very very solid relievers. Who is the closer? Is Marmol ready? Wood? And I am not sold on Wuertz. I worried about the pen last year and many times I wasn't disappointed. Not sold on Wuertz? How's 3 straight seasons of sub-4.00 ERA sound? The guy said "maybe Howry", what more do you need to know? Howry was lights out last year, how can somebody say, "maybe Howry" Yes, I said Maybe Howry. I think Howry is a good releiver, but he has 7 losses last year, 38 for his career. That is the only knock I see on him. I don't understand how his 12 losses in 2 years as a Cub makes him LIGHTS OUT.
