  1. I thought the Yankees already signed him.
  2. Who knows if 13-15 is going to be insane then or not. It could end up being a very good deal for the Yankees. Like another poster said in one of the other extension threads......... these kinds of deals are almost always great for the teams. Very low risk in the scheme of things. Just don't let him room w/ Pavano! Well it can't be bad for the team. If the Yanks turn down the options (hypothetically), 4/30 is a very good deal. Yanks don't lose, but I think they could have gotten the options cheaper. In comparison, Jose Reyes got 9 and 11 (option) for his first 2 FA Years. David wright received 14 and 15 for his first 2 FA years. Believe me, I am not complaining. It is nice to see the Yankees start to be proactive with the payroll. Makes the '09 payroll much more palatable.
  3. Only 130 pages (@3250 REPLIES) to go! What do the guys at orioleinsiders think?
  4. To me this is like Bucholz vs. Chamberlain. Both have their attributes and both have downsides. I have been to both several times and i would give Wrigley the edge. I enjoy the atmosphere there better than Boston. Oh BTW, for all these purists that gripe about the ads on the Green Monster, look back at the 30's-40's. The monster was not green, it wwas covered top to bottom in ads! Why do you think it was originally built? http://www.i-concepts.org/images/prints/st10120p.jpg Yankees vs. Red Sox at Fenway Park, Margaret Mayall, July 4, 1942
  5. I think the options are too expensive, but if salaries continue upwards maybe they won't be in 4 years. This doesn't due much except avoid arbitration. I don't see him getting 13-15 as a FA, but I could be wrong. My hope is he continues to improve and this puts his mind at ease.
  6. The Bronx has a long way to go, but there will be the obligatory redevelopment of the surrounding area. Some of the new green spaces have already been canceled, but some new parks will still be created. They are adding better ferry service and upgrading the subway platforms. So you might actually be able to stay around after the night games, LOL.
  7. Well to be honest, I am torn. On one hand, I am going to miss the stadium. I grew up watching this team play there and I love going. It is a beautiful stadium and I will miss it, especially monument park. On the other hand, there are many reasons for a new stadium, the least of which is revenue. I am a realist and the entire notion of it ruining the Yankee legacy is garbage. It isn't the same stadium that Ruth, Gehrig, Joe D, Mantle played in. Most people forget that the stadium was remodeled in the 70s. This changed the configuration and structure of the stadium. They removed posts and support structures and removed the facade from around the stadium. This did cause problems, in '96 pieces of the stadium fell from the upper deck and crushed seats below it. I would have preferred the tore the old stadium down and the new one rebuilt on the same site. However I am just glad they are staying in the Bronx. George wanted a new stadium in Manhattan and years ago threatened to move them to New Jersey (which would have killed me). I am glad the went with the classic Yankee Stadium design and brought the facade back. The pictures look great: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2055/2052450500_5708c250af_b.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i207/ironfan40/Yankee001.jpg http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/3466/nyr1110115171024x768nd9.jpg
  8. RFK Busch II Three Rivers Riverfront Veteran's Astrodome. Shea, in '09
  9. 07-09:$20M/year, 10:$21M Jeter signed his deal after A-Rod and Manny drove up the price. The original contract was 7 years at 118.5 Million, based on the Juan Gonzales deal with Detroit. When Gonzales turned them down, Steinbummer pulled Jeters offer (not wanting to set a salary precedent) and gave Jeter a one year deal. The next year, A-Rod and Manny popped the salary structure and George had to pony up the extra years and money. Not to mention that after accepting the one year deal, Jeter won the All-star MVP and World series MVP, thereby leading to the bigger deal. Most people also factor in the 2M annually from his signing bonus paid through 08. Meaning Jeter in 08 = 22M, 09=20, 10=21.
  10. I would be more excited to get to Minnesota if it had the roof, why cheap out on the last 120 million? Definitely a mid to late summer trip.
  11. this weekend when i have time. short and long answer is going to be buchholz though mainly because ive played on the same field as him I don't care who you take, I am fine with either. Just wanted the non-biased look. Yankees fans are as adamant as Sox fans. I thought you and Raisin might have better reasons than what team he plays for.
  12. Boy Aybar has fallen off the face of the earth to be included in this trade. Wasn't he a decent prospect for the Dodgers? Or is it just the drugs?
  13. LMAO. I didn't cheat, cheating would be giving you the answer and letting you think I was right, I had two names, so I checked myself. Plus I didn't give away your answer.
  14. He said Sid Finch. I know, but I admit to checking myself before posting, lol
  15. I also agree that at this point they have both shown good upside and are about equal. I am just so sick of hearing the homers on each side talking about how much better their prospect is. I was really kind of hoping that Meph or someone would give me some sort of analysis. I know there are guys on here that scour Minor league number and could give me some sort of unbiased analysis.
  16. I know I am going to take some flak for this, but I want an outside opinion. I am sick of the Yankee and Red Sox HOMERS trying to argue this out. I know a lot of you guys follow the numbers closely. I want to see what outside people think. So, If both were available to the Cubs without having to give anything up, who would you choose and why?
  17. A few years ago, I got Kerry wood at Toys R Us for .99. It was on the east coast where he wouldn't be that popular.
  18. Mets trade two white players for a Hispanic. Shocking move for Omar.
  19. Well that bites. VT needs to stop throwing the ball. Down 10 because of 3 picks.
  20. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH Jesus, I thought he had that
  21. Blocked! Unreal!
  22. He just said--"Brandon Ore is HOT." LMAO
  23. What a play!! I can't believe that!
