  1. in iowa they report when anybody does anything
  2. I don't know, the Big 10 seems pretty weak to me this year. Maybe there's just more weakness across the country. the big east and ACC are horrid
  3. if one were to put some thought into it, one could extrapolate that since team UZR does, in fact, have a positive relationship with lowering ERA, that individual UZR could, in fact, have a similar relationship. like i said, i understand that there is a lot of truth in uzr. i never said there wasn't. i'm saying it's unreliable and shouldn't be used to judge performance by a player and then act like it is definitive at all. according to uzr, derek jeter has become one of the best defensive shortstops in the league the last 2 seasons after being horrible for 3 straight years prior to that. so are the numbers inaccurate, or has jeter suddenly become a great shortstop? i think the former seems more likely. who knows? is there a reason Geovany Soto all of a sudden became a terrible hitter? he is seeing the same pitches as last year. or is defense something that doesnt change for a player year to year? in any case the fact that you jump on UZR any time it is mentioned on this board undermines any pleas you attempt to ralionalize your position.

  5. is the big ten down compared to how down they have been for the past 15 years or are they down the same amount they have been down the last 15 years
  6. Remember Leon Lett? I'm surprised you guys are hammering the Iowa players for not touching the ball. That's what you're coached to do in pretty much all levels of football. Here's the thing: Probably 98% of all field goals kicked are on 4th down. Probably 90% of all blocked field goals either get deflected and go downfield where they can't be advanced by kicking team OR go backwards. This was just a 1 in a million situation. If the kick advances past the line of scrimmage at any point, the defense is taught to not touch it. If they do, it's a live ball and the kicking team can recover for a first down. i'm, like, 100% sure it went past the line of scrimmage anyway I obviously couldn't tell at the game and haven't seen a replay that really gives a good angle. I honestly think it almost went completely lateral but could be wrong. It was just a total fluke play in a really weird situation. In hindsight if they fall on the ball, game over. But Hunter and others did what everyone is coached to do on a play like that, I can't fault them. How does our clock operator not let that final second run off the clock anyways? ehhh, it was close, but i cant really tell from the field goal cam. anyway, im going to wait until next week before i decide to judge anything
