  1. I think Cowher is going to be really choosy on where he returns to. I'm thinking the only jobs he'd consider would be those close to his home in North Carolina - Panthers, Titans, maybe Jags (not sure on distance there). That's just going off the comments that he wanted to be with his family when he retired the first time. I wonder if his thinking has changed since the death of his wife? I understand him wanting to be close to his family while she was sick, but now that she has passed away maybe he is more willing to take a job more based on the strength/prestige of the franchise instead of just where it's located? Dallas is is a very good fit for him IMO. His youngest daughter has graduated from high school, as well.
  2. Definitely think Nadal's competition is harder through age 24. Don't think it is too particularly close. I think Nadal has a very good chance at breaking the record, if his knees don't give out. That is a pretty big if, though.
  3. you could even argue for Matt Forte
  4. Falcons are an interesting team. Unfortunately, I don't have very much confidence that Abraham can stay healthy and still be a worthwhile pass rusher. I think the Falcons had some areas to shore up in order to take a step in becoming an elite team. I thought they did well w/ Dunta and drafting Franks, and I love Weatherspoon to solidify the LB group. But I thought they needed help rushing the passer (26th in sacks last year) and another weapon for the #3 WR spot. Gotta really hope Anderson and/or Sidbury really step up, IMO, to be a playoff team. I agree on Abraham, unfortunately. Anderson is going to play a little more DT this year with hopefully one of Davis/Biermann/Sidbury stepping up on the other side Franks and Weatherspoon have been great at training camp supposedly, but Jerry hasn't been able to fully go yet. As for the #3 WR issue, Harry Douglas coming back from the injury that kept him out all of last season should help a bunch.
  5. Very excited to see the defense this year. Between Dunta Robinson, Peria Jerry, and Sean Weatherspoon, the defense should be much improved. As long as Abraham can stay healthy and not decline too much, we should be out of the bottom part of the NFL in team defense.
  6. 1) Brett Jackson 2) Hak-Ju Lee 3) Chris Archer 4) Jay Jackson 5) Josh Vitters 6) Junior Lake 7) Trey McNutt 8) Dae Eun Rhee 9) Chris Carpenter 10) Jin-Yeong Kim 11) Brett Wallach 12) Hayden Simpson 13) Reggie Golden 14) Kyler Burke (still think he will rebound.. won't give up) 15) Chris Rusin 16) Brandon Guyer 17) Rafael Dolis 18) Matt Szczur 19) Thomas Diamond 20) Brooks Raley
  7. When Vitters is ready, he'll take over third. I don't really see much of a realistic scenario where either Lee or Starlin are a regular third baseman. As has been mentioned, just not enough power potential. If everybody pans out, the likely 2014 infield is Vitters (3B), HJ Lee (SS), Starlin (2B), ? (1B). My dream 2014 infield would be Lake (3B), HJ Lee (SS), Starlin (2B), Vitters (1B)
  8. Elaine Marshall is running for the NC senate seat
  9. Lake with another good game
  10. Somebody must have been banging some college students
  11. Can't you go over the cap to sign your own players? Wouldn't draft picks count as your own players?
  12. The last four at-large teams, along with the last four automatic qualifiers, will now play each other in "The First Four" to get the right to play in the second round in the NCAA tourney next year.
  13. Damn, JJ finally escaped Orlando.. just to get to Chicago as they added Korver and Lee. :(
  14. I dont think that is has to be five years. Jermaine O'Neal signed for the MLE with Boston for two years.
  15. Wow, was I wrong about SIlva. He is still benefiting from a bit of good luck and I was advocating Gorzelanny taking his rotation spot (who is pitching about as well). I would have wagered a significant amount of money back in April that his ERA would be over 4
  16. Bulls might have three Dukies starting this year?
  17. One of those players is Wall I am pretty sure. There were rumblings that he wouldn't be eligible at the start of the season because of that and rumors have been swirling about it around the Raleigh high school basketball for awhile. I seem to remember hearing rumors about Bledsoe, too. I would guess that they are the two players that just got drafted, but it could have been any of them.
  18. There was a period between Hewitt and Federer that lasted a little while IIRC
  19. What do our prospects look like for 2014 on the backline?
  20. Lake with a BB and HR?!
  21. Glad to see former Dukie Elliot Williams land in the first round
  22. TV numbers for this World Cup have been really impressive
  23. This is probably never going to be repeated.
