  1. Average fouls called on them per 200 possessions over the last three years UCONN 21.31 UNC 21.89 Syracuse 21.92 Ohio St. 23.08 UCLA 23.98 Pittsburgh 25.5 Wisconsin 25.74 Kentucky 26.42 Kansas 26.76 Illinois 26.87 Duke 26.90 Georgetown 27.06 Purdue 27.43 Missouri 28.07 Michigan St. 28.14 West Virginia 28.73 Villanova 29.34 Kansas St. 30.29
  2. That's actually pretty good information. Why wouldn't ESPN talk about that more to try and combat the Duke hate? I've been compiling a list; I have done Duke, Michigan State, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Purdue, Illinois, Syracuse, Ohio State, WVU, Wisconsin, Villanova so far. Obviously the final number needs to be adjusted for a few things to get a sense of the officiating (physicality of team being the biggest) Which schools would you think have the most fouls called per possession and which the least? So far, 3 schools have been called for way less fouls per possession than any of the other teams. Any guesses? Any more schools that you would be interested in?
  3. Oh, and it is not that much work to do so I can test this on other teams or a few more years back if you guys are curious. It isn't that easy to find opponents number of fouls, though.
  4. Is that really accurate to look at it that way? I would think Duke gets a lot more opportunities to foul because there are a lot more possessions in one of their games than MSU. Could be way off, but I would think that would be a factor. Adjusted Tempo 2010 2009 2008 Duke 65.5 67.4 73.0 Michigan State 66.1 67.3 64.9 For this, I accounted that there were a different amount of games in each season. Over the last three years Avg Fouls/Game Avg Tempo Avg Foul/2 Possessions Duke 18.4 68.4 0.27 Michigan State 18.6 66.1 0.28 So per 200 possessions, Michigan State is called for one more foul than Duke. Not very much of a difference.
  5. I am afraid that our defense is not that good this year
  6. I was wondering the same thing. Is Rivers likely headed to Duke? Or is he gonna got the Calapari route like every other guard? I am hearing things that make me pretty optimistic on this and Kentucky is not in on him, at least not yet
  7. Yours wasn't going to be as awesome as this one. Don't stand in the way of awesome. I was hoping to improve on my overall 9-4 game thread record. Vanilla Ice, if the Cubs lose today, it is 100% your fault. It was my turn
  8. Well hopefully, I will be testing you tomorrow
  9. Two of the best starting rookie pitchers from last year make their season debut. Randy Wells (Last Season: 3.05 ERA, 3.88 FIP) http://cdn.bleacherreport.com/images_root/slideshows/384/slideshow_38446/display_image.jpg err http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kzkB4xKFvls/SSnyqYc15xI/AAAAAAAAAtc/Gm3WLRrTs_0/s320/swojo.jpg err http://www.mycubstoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/cubs-randy-wells-rescue-11.jpg vs. Tommy Hanson (Last Season: 2.89 ERA, 3.50 FIP) http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i150/onlyxy0uxx/jj-redick.jpg whoops http://www.crazie-talk.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/zoubs.jpg err http://www.georgiabaseball.net/tommy%20hanson1.jpg Oh, and http://pictures.replayphotos.com/images/D/lg/duke-university-sports-illustrated-collection-si-photos-duke-university-1992-ncaa-national-championship-d-sic-sip-00009lg.jpg http://www.coachk.com/wp-content/uploads/2001-National-Championship.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/2d9ogt2.jpg
  10. Which one is Wojo gonna interview for? Definitely haven't heard any rumblings about that, but I suppose it could possibly happen. He was the one responsible for Zoubek and Thomas' development over the four years as he is the big man coach. I just don't know if he has what it takes to be a head coach.
  11. C Jason Kendall 1B Garrett Atkins 2B Kazuo Matsui 3B Pedro Feliz SS Yuniesky Betancourt LF Austin Kearns CF Carlos Gomez RF Jeff Franceour SP Dave Bush SP Craig Stanmen
  12. I'll stand by my argument that that there's no comparison between the 2 when it comes to actual coaching. Coach K does have the market cornered on having his players coached up to hack the crap out of a ballhandler yet not get a foul called. If Izzo masters that, look out. He has. I'm not sure where you're going with that. Izzo's teams are a hell of a lot more physical than K's. Yes they are, but they also are called for a lot more fouls. Fouls per game called on the two teams over the last three years according to ESPN 2010 2009 2008 Duke 18.1 18.1 19.2 Michigan St. 18.0 19.3 18.5 So basically even. Michigan State looks like they average about .3 or .4 more fouls per game or what you would expect from the more physical team
  13. A lot more coaching turnover in the ACC than I expected
  14. Oh, come on. You know what he means.
  15. Duke has a higher percentage of black students than Butler :D oh and http://media.charlotteobserver.com/smedia/2010/04/06/03/779-Duke_Wins_National_Championship___04.06.10_Bcl0F_5E_075.standalone.prod_affiliate.138.JPG
  16. I [expletive] lvoe that Brian ZOubek got the national championship chlonching rebound
  17. I'm not a crazy duke fan but.. Howard has been playing stupidly all half. It was only a matter of time before he got his 3rd and 4th
  18. sososososososo pumped for tonight
  19. Castro's head peeks over the horizon. Yeah! God damn you Theriot for hitting a hard line drive. Damn you straight to Hell! No. Because this isn't his fault, you know. That ball was hit all that hard. Or the center fielder made a good play. Or he's depressed. Or something.
  20. The 6-1 hitters are basically a candy shop for a guy like Lowe. I still think Soto will be OK
