    I disagree. The Colts could have easily picked Ryan Leaf over Peyton there. The Bulls had their selection made for them - like most NBA drafts. They could have easily taken Michael Beasley

    if the cubs are giving vogelbach over a million more than slot, he's signing. baez doesn't really have a clear college option so i can't imagine he doesn't sign. that one worries me less because worst case scenario we just get an extra pick next year. I understand and agree and certainly think they'll be signed. I just thought we would have heard official word by now

    Is it worrisome that we haven't heard anything official on Vogelbach or Baez? I know it seems up in the air, but the rumors at UNC still say Maples is signing.

    If he's so ashamed he should drop his appeal to the players union and accept the ~$3 million loss of income during the next 30 days. For the more statistical inclined, how much is the value of a win? I always forget how that works. $4.5 mil per win? Zambrano is has a 1.0 WAR this year, so in reality he's pitching like a $4.5 million pitcher It depends on who is calculating it and the year. Fangraphs seems to be using a number for this year that is somewhere around 4.5. But remember that WAR is a counting stat. So if Z was pitching the rest of the year and stayed on his current pace, having earned 4.5 million already he'd likely be a 6 million pitcher at the end of the season. And add in his batting value and it should be closer to about 10 million.

    Using HardballTimes' xBABIP calculator (http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/fantasy/article/simple-xbabip-calculator/), Reed Johnson's 2011 xBABIP is .319. His actual BABIP is .437. EDIT: Somebody smarter than me can adjust his line for luck. Was it Rob that used to do it?
